Special Containment Procedures: it is to be kept in a locked box within a monitored secured room at all times. Access to this room is only to be allowed to individuals of level 4 security or above.
Description: SCP-5785 is a mask of changing appearance do to one of it's three anomalous properties. SCP-5785's first anomalous property is that it takes the appearance it's current owner's face and can be easily taken on and off by it's owner. the secondary effect takes place immediately after putting it on, the person wearing the mask will become unrecognizable, this anomaly persists even in pictures and recordings after the mask is removed, until the mask is removed the individual wearing the mask will only be noted as someone wearing a mask of the owner's face. The third anomaly will activate only under two conditions, first the owner of the mask has to wear then take the mask off, second they must be in the presence of someone who recognizes the owner's face. when these two criteria are met those who satisfy the second condition will immediately try and take their face off as well, thinking that their face is also a mask. Those who successfully remove their face will die if untreated but can be saved if immediately treated. However if they are stopped they will begin to associate to themselves as a new individual, thinking that they're not who they are. Despite several attempts these individuals won't change in this thinking.
