Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:

The anomaly colloquially known as “Cornbread, The Lying” is to be kept in a room resembling a pet kennel with food, water, toys, a litter box, and “gogurt” (upon its basic necessities request). Anything else requested by the anomaly is to be scrutinized as some form of escape.

Anomalous abilities include human speech from an otherwise ordinary feline life form, and an intelligence level of a seemingly well-educated human adult (several different languages have been spoken by the anomaly). Only designated site personnel may speak and interact with the anomaly during research sessions and mealtimes. All other contact is to be strictly monitored.

The anomaly has been known to use falsified information in order to persuade its handlers into giving it something that it desires; hence its namesake. Its persuasions are recorded as being very believable and trustworthy when in its presence. A warning sign on the door has henceforth been posted to alert site personnel not to trust its words should it try to engage them in conversation in order to persuade them further.

Description:

"Cornbread The Cat" was the pet name given to this anomaly by the former owners, the [REDACTED] family. When the former owners discovered this ability in Cornbread they shared this information with friends and neighbors until local site personnel were contacted. The life form has since then asked to be referred to by "Cornbread, The Lying" or simply "Cornbread" (with he/him pronouns).

Cornbread anatomically resembles a regular house cat with white and orange fur. Anomalously though, he has the ability to command human speech. The mechanisms by which he accomplishes this feat are still unknown. The site veterinarian has recorded no major health complications.

Height: 21 centimeters
Weight: 4.6 kilograms

Cornbread is harmless aside from his cunning; deceiving humans into giving him whatever he desires (usually). Research has shown his intellect also allows him to give these requests in multiple human languages. Although it is unknown when his first word was spoken, in the time that he has been recorded his grammar and command of language have increased drastically—indicating that he is getting smarter with practice.

Fortunately, Cornbread has never requested anything beyond what an ordinary cat would want, offering no signs of danger to the human populous. There is still no known catalyst for how or why cornbread developed the ability to speak, research is ongoing.

Addendum:

Should Cornbread request something dangerous, i.e. human weaponry, his request is to be denied immediately and consequently punished with a spray bottle full of warm water.
