Hello everyone, I want to see if this idea is worth writting and/or if something similar has been created in the past.
So my SCP would be a godlike humanoid entity with the power to make people (read, other sentient humanoid) that stand before him his equal. Its power doesn't work on non-sentient object, creature or humanoid.
While it is a Godlike entity, it is not capable of omnipresence or omniscience. There is a debate whether it have omnipotence or not. There is also a debate regarding if it is invinsible or not. It seems to have some sort of slow regeneration as far as we can tell.
The SCP consider itself to be a simple person (read, a human being). It still knows that its a godlike entity, it still knows that it has enough power to cause untold destruction, but it doesn't value its life based on its power, but on the worth of its life. Because of this, it value the life of others based on their innate intrinsic value. This means that since it value anyone's life to have an intrinsic worth, it consider that everyone has the same value has itself (Might need to rewrite this part)
The aura's diameter seems to be quite local. A couple of meter at best. Need more testing.
What the aura can so is quite simple, it works on belief (this is important). It is, what we could call, a semi-passive ability.
If you believe that this SCP is your equal, its power will have no effect on you. If you do not believe that this SCP is your equal, its power trigger and it impose you to be its equal.
The opposite it also true. If the SCP doesn't consider you to be his equal, his power trigger on himself. If the SCP and the individual that stand before it doesn't consider each other to be equal, then nothing happens.
So from what we can gather, for the SCP's power to trigger, it require people to be actively aware of it, to be able to form a thought about it and to develop an impression of it.
What happens when equality triggers:
The power take the value in physical capacity of every normal member (read, a typical human) of earth, then make an average and those values become those of said individual that stand before it. Since a norman human doesn't have power, those affected by equality that used to have an ability or power lose's it, temporarely.
Ex. A US military soldier (male, age 42, highly trained in physical and combat) with over 40kg worth of equipped weapon's and gears await outside of the field of influence of the SCP. The soldier in question has been briefed and has been told false facts regarding what the SCP has done in its past. The soldier has been told to not attempt to harm the SCP unless it advance toward's him. The soldier enter's the SCP's cell and once the soldier has the SCP in its field of view, the soldier fall on his knee, then fall flat on the ground, back toward the . The SCP take a few steps toward the soldier silently. The soldier, fearing for its life, take his combat knife and stab the SCP in its leg, where an important artery would normaly be. The SCP fall on its back, screaming and swearing while 3 D-class assets get the soldier out of the cell.
After a debriefing interview, the soldier explained that the moment he saw the SCP, it felt as if its strenght was robbed from him (he fell on the ground because of the weight of its equipment). He compared his physical capacity as below what he had before its army training.
From this test we can extrapolate a few things:
The SCP's power does affect physical capacity, but not mental. The soldier did retain his combat training and managed to aim and strike, albeit quite slowly from what we saw from the security footage, a critical part of the leg of the SCP.
The SCP's power seems to work independently from itself.
Informations given on the SCP affect those who are in its field of influence. The reverse could be true as well… Need to investigate further.
The SCP reassured us that it doesn't hold a grudge or resent against the soldier. It understand, considering what happened, that fear would have been a normal reaction. It asked if it could talk to the soldier to make sure that there was no "bad blood" as he put it. This request will be considered. Further testing could lead to more information.
So… so far what do you think?
