Item #: SCP-4996

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4996-1 is to be kept in a storage locker in Site-81, except for testing purposes. Unauthorized attempts to utilize SCP-4996-1 will result in disciplinary action.

Description: SCP-4996-1 is a chalice of unknown make and origin. It is composed of an alloy that appears similar to gold but is indestructible by any means, both non-anomalous and anomalous. The chalice has a ring of crystalline structures embedded into the alloy. The crystalline structures have a coloration described as being like a "rich red wine." When the chalice is filled with a mixture of beer and pomegranate juice, the crystalline structures begin pulsating to the holder's heartbeat. The chalice then begins to vibrate, rapidly increasing in frequency until it begins to fold local reality around itself and its holder. At this point, the fold in reality formed by the chalice causes the holder to be transported into another dimension or universe (thusly designated as SCP-4996-2).

SCP-4996-2 is the dimension that SCP-4996-1 leads to when filled with water. It is a primarily flat plane made up of black and bronze particulate matter that vaguely resembles sand. The atmosphere is breathable by human life, albeit it has a trace amount of an unknown gaseous element. SCP-4996-2 is inhabited by SCP-4996-3 and various instances of SCP-4996-4.1 To leave SCP-4996-2, the holder of SCP-4996-1 needs to draw no less than 0.25 L of blood into SCP-4996-1 and drink it. Once the holder drinks from the chalice, they will be transported back to their last known location before activating it.

SCP-4996-3 is a pyramidal entity supported by three (3) flexible conical legs. It stands at a height of 450 km, although it has been recorded as being at a maximum height of 600 km, and a minimum height of 150 km. SCP-4996-3 appears to be composed of a crystalline material seemingly similar to sapphire that reacts to somatic stimuli. It is currently unknown as to what purpose SCP-4996-3 utilizes this capability for, as it has not responded to direct physical contact with foreign bodies.2 SCP-4996-3 constantly travels in one direction at 5 km/hr, coming to a complete stop every 48 hours to "root." A rooting event, classified as SCP-4996-A, occurs when SCP-4996-3 stops at the 48-hour mark, spreads its 3 legs out, and slowly lowers its main body to the ground. Once SCP-4996-3 makes physical contact with the ground, its crystalline structure shifts into a cylindrical formation no less than 200 km tall. At this point, SCP-4996-3 begins to spawn instances of SCP-4996-4 for another 24 hours, after which SCP-4996-3 shifts back into its pyramidal shape, stands up, and begins moving again. The number of SCP-4996-4 instances generated by SCP-4996-3 during an SCP-4996-A event can number anywhere between 5-1000.

SCP-4996-4 instances are cylindrical organisms with 3-7 conical legs that are spawned when SCP-4996-3 roots. They are approximately 2-3 meters tall. SCP-4996-4 instances are extremely hostile to any foreign body, and attack in groups of anywhere between 5-50 entities. Their primary form of attack is to utilize an unknown form of energy to tear apart their target.3 Conventional weaponry has little to no effect on SCP-4996-4 instances, except for rifles capable of firing .950-caliber ammunition, as SCP-4996-4 instances shatter when impacted with a .950-caliber cartridge.

It is theorized that SCP-4996-3 is a deity-level entity known as "Kek" (the Egyptian god of primordial darkness), and is imprisoned within SCP-4996-2 as punishment for an unknown crime (see Addendum 4996-1B).

SCP-4996 Recovery Log SCP-4996-1 was discovered in Saudi Arabia on ██/██/██44 in a mosque during a Foundation raid on the Chaos Insurgency. The Foundation suffered minimal casualties, and a number of anomalous objects were retrieved during the raid, one of which being SCP-4996.

When SCP-4996 was first activated by Field Agent ██████ ██████, he was transported into SCP-4996-2, and it became apparent that SCP-4996-1 needed to be contained. However, soon after containment, Field Agent ██████ ██████ returned to his last known location prior to the object's activation. Field Agent ██████ ██████ described SCP-4996-2, SCP-4996-3, instances of SCP-4996-4, and SCP-4996-A events in great detail before suffering a mental breakdown culminating in his termination.

The object currently resides at Site-81 in its containment cell.

Addendum 4996-1A: Kek's "crime" seems to be taking such a geometrically perfect form. Its body shows absolute lack of entropy, which is thought to be impossible in the universe due to the Laws of Thermodynamics.

Footnotes
1. It may be possible that there are more entities that inhabit SCP-4996-2
2. A possibility is that SCP-4996-3 is numb to any physical contact less than a massive kinetic force due to its massive size.
3. The energy is theorized to be a form of psychokinetic force, which is seen in some anomalous human beings.
