Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: The area occupied by SCP-XXXX, also known as Site XXXX, is surrounded by 5 meter tall, concrete reinforced walls. The gates on the northern and eastern entrances should always be guarded by no less than 3 armed personnel to prevent outside visitors. There must also be experienced veterinarians operating on the clinic, as well as wildlife rangers armed with rifles and neutralization dart to prevent a possible site breach.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a large frozen area of land located in the north-eastern region of Siberia, roughly 40km2 in area. It is inhabited by many Ice-Age species of wildlife, previously thought to be extinct. These organisms are designated as XXXX-1. Current known instances of XXXX-1 include: 41 specimens of Woolly Mammoths, 21 specimens of Woolly Rhinos, 60 specimens of Yakutian horses, 12 Saber-toothed cats of the genus Homotherium, 12 specimens of Eurasian Cave Lions, 6 Cave Bears, and more (see addendum XXXX.1). All of these species co-existed during the last Ice-Age in most of north Eurasia.
Along with these 200+ specimens, there is also a tribe of human hunters living in SCP-XXXX. They have been designated as SCP-XXXX-2. There are currently 45 of these human hunters, roughly split in half in terms of gender, with most of them appearing to be young adults, with babies and toddlers also present. Autopsies have confirmed these humans to be of the species Homo Sapiens, although they possess higher amounts of Neanderthal DNA compared to most other humans. Specimens of XXXX-2 have unique genes not found in other humans making them taller, physically stronger and more resistant to frost in response to their harsh environment. Instances of XXXX-2 are sentient, intelligent1 and possess complete free will. SCP-XXXX-2 communicate using a language currently not known to be similar to any other language.2. XXXX-2 specimens do not seem to be aggressive towards foundation personnel as long as they are not provoked.
Origin: SCP-XXXX was discovered by the Soviet government during a military training expedition. A unit of soldiers assigned to train in the area noticed a herd of Mammoth like creatures in the distance and immediately contacted authority. The SCP Foundation then took over and proceeded to take action in order to protect and hide SCP-XXXX.
The origin of SCP-XXXX is unknown. It is believed that it's not a recent anomaly, instead having existed continuously since at least 10,000 years ago. Data collected from the site show that temperatures drop drastically as you get closer to SCP-XXXX. There is no known direct cause for this, but theories suggest it may be due to a turret coming from the North Atlantic Ocean, creating cold northern winds. It may also be possible that a more nitrogen-rich atmosphere in the area blocks direct sunlight, causing lower temperatures.
Expeditions into SCP-XXXX lead researchers into a burial site built by SCP-XXXX-2 to burry their dead. Further digging in the area revealed bones belonging to an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 dating to 8000 years ago, as well as some wolf bones berried nearby dated to the same time period. On top of that, DNA analysis of instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 show that organisms of the same species are closely related, and descend down from one family line. This suggest that both SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 are native to the area and direct decedents of the specimens that lived in the area during the Ice-Age.
The SCP Foundation is very uncertain about SCP-XXXX future. Following a large global trend, temperatures seem to have risen in the area in which SCP-XXXX lies. This has caused almost all organisms living in SCP-XXXX to have a decrease in numbers. If this trend is to continue, almost all of SCP-XXXX megafauna could be extinct by as early as 2030. This has caused the foundation to spend recourses preserving SCP-XXXX, although no efficient solution has been found.
The following is a report by Dr. James Robertson on SCP-XXXX current predicament
<Begin Log>
We have confirmed that 2 more adult Mammoths together with a calf have passed away. Their bodies have been taken away for autopsies. Cause of death yet unknown, but believed to be a result of the weakening of the immune system.
Temperatures in the area have risen in an accelerated rate in the past decade. The average temperature is up to -5 degrees Celsius, as opposed to -7.5 just 15 years ago. We have lost an estimated 20% of the large herbivore megafauna in SCP-XXXX, which has also effected the carnivorous species of SCP-XXXX, as well as SCP-XXXX-2. The opening of the Ivanov industrial facility just 200 kilometers to the south has increased carbon in the local atmosphere by 35%. My team and I will be working in an effort to preserve as much of the wildlife as possible. If the situation worsens, we may have to artificially increase their numbers and collect specimens of SCP-XXXX-1 to breed them in captivity. Future fate of SCP-XXXX-2 currently uncertain. That's all for today.

Incidents resulting in causalities caused by SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2
Despite SCP-XXXX relative harmless, there have been fatal incidents. All of these incidents however have come as a result of unnecessary provocation towards SCP-XXXX-1. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 have yet to cause any casualties, since they are generally less aggressive and even appear do display fear when in contact with Foundation personnel.
In total, there have been 2 deaths and 9 casualties caused by SCP-XXXX. The following is the aftermath of the death of one of the personnel during a expedition in SCP-XXXX.
Diary Log by Dr. Benjamin Temo, after a expedition incident

Expedition to study and examine a SCP-XXXX-1 instance, Woolly Rhino Alpha, has resulted in a causality. As my team of 5 researchers were passing past the west forest, on of my men had unknowingly passed in the territory of a Ursus spelaeus, a Cave Bear. We suspect she was a mother, which explains why she was so aggressive. The bear ambushed researcher Aleksandr D., who was not quick enough to utilize his dart rifle. As we were split up at the time, I was some 200 meters away from the incident and was not able to intervene in time. We were also unsuccessful in recovering the body. Log over.
Relation with SCP-1265: SPC-XXXX is quite similar to SCP-1265. SCP-1265 is an irregularly shaped area of land measuring 50km2 within the Congo basin, Africa. SCP-1265 is inhabited by several species known to be extinct, mostly from the clade Dinosauria. It has been proposed that SCP-XXXX may be linked with SCP-1265, although there is no direct evidence to prove this. The animals living within SCP-XXXX are native to the area which they occupy and co-existed with each other as recently as 12,000 years ago, as opposed to the animals living in SCP-1265, who don’t seem to have any direct correlation between themselves, the other species and the area which they occupy.
