Scp idea, Predatory Novel

Item #: SCP-5008

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
Following incident 516-L-2, scp-5008 is to be kept in a standard humanoid containment cell in any bookshelf able to hold at least 50 pieces of written literature, with each work totaling a minimum average of 300 pages or a minimum of 8.3cm in width. Scp-5008 is to be placed in between the largest possible number of books on any shelf of the before mentioned bookshelf. All books placed on the same shelf as scp-5008 are to changed regularly with either written work from other shelves on the same bookshelf as scp-blank or from outside said bookshelf.
The containment cell is to be inhabited by at least one D-class personnel for a minimum of 4 days per week. Although it is not prohibited, testing involving the D-class inhabiting scp-5008's chamber is not recommended as it may result in accidental, unauthorized cross testing with scp-5008. D-class involved are to be informed of scp-5008's anomalous properties and encouraged to interact with scp-5008 if they wish to do so.

Description:
Scp-5008 is a novel, twelve(12)cm in width, twenty(20)cm in length and seven(7)cm in thickness featuring a dragon, a spaceship, a Hispanic woman in a low-cut red dress and a Caucasian male in a black trench coat and fedora on the cover. Along the spine of scp-5008 in bold, raised and stylized text is the word "READ" with two cat-eye shaped images, slightly indented into the spine of the novel on either side of the raised lettering.
The inside cover of scp-5008 describes various information regarding its origin such as the date of printing, the author, copyright information and distribution location. However much of this information is questionable given that it records its printing date as October 4th 1992 but chemical analysis dates it as far back as around 1440. Also, the author is listed as Josh Gutenberg despite all individual matching this name having claimed to have no knowledge of such a book existing when interviewed by foundation personnel.
The bulk of the text found within scp-5008 varies depending on whomever is reading it at any one given time. However when photographed or viewed through camera equipment the pages of scp-blank are actually blank (with the exception of the inside cover and cover page). Anyone who reads the main text of scp-5008 will describe it as the "best novel they have ever read", without exception and when asked about the books content will describe it in a way most fitting to the individual's personal preferences. Despite referring to to the novel in the past tense no individual is actually able to finish reading scp-5008 and is instead constantly left on a "cliffhanger" when they finish reading no matter how long the individual has been reading the text or how many pages have been turned, theoretically to have the reader return on a regular basis. This effect will even extends to illiterate individuals who attempt to read scp-5008, despite lacking an ability to read. It has been discovered that part of the reason scp-5008 is able create such intriguing stories that vary so widely is because it is actually alive, sentient and psychic and continually reads the minds of the reader, feeding upon the information it collects while simultaneously incorporating some of it into the ever expanding text. This effect has been shown to have little to no side effects on the reader.
The sentient nature of scp-5008 was not discovered until incident 516-L-1 in which scp-blank used its psychic abilities to induce full brain death in 3 researchers and causing a 3 day coma in one Dr. Cunningham in an attempt to defend itself after a page was removed for analysis. After he awoke Dr. Cunningham was able to describe some basic information about scp-5008. As it turned out scp-5008 was able to consume all the information in the brains of the other 3 researchers because they were "weak minded" but could only fill Dr. Cunningham's brain with more information as a way of stunning him because he was not "weak minded".

Acquisition Log:
Scp-5008 was obtained by the foundation on December 15th, 2001 after an anonymous call was placed to site 28 with the caller unable to produce a valid code phrase to be redirected to site personnel, insisting they were Doctor Ivan Topi and needed to speak to scp-69. The call was traced to [REDACTED] Ontario, Canada inside the town library. The perpetrator, a 13 year old Caucasian male, was questioned and then given classB amnestics. He claimed to have found the number and heard about the foundation while reading a book he found in the library. The book was investigated, discovered to be scp-5008 and immediately taken into foundation custody. It is theorized that a foundation agent or researcher working at site 28 may have inadvertently read scp-5008 without becoming aware of its anomalous effects, however an investigation is still ongoing.

Transcription of Phone call:
C-Civilian Caller
P-Site 28 phone operator
C: Hello Is this the S.C.P.P. foundation -(laughter)-
P: No this is the SCP foundation and please do not make reference to the foundation whilst on the phone. Now If you could provide your code phrase to confirm our identity
C: I am -(Giggling)- Doctor Ivan… To Pee -(Laughing Continues)-
P: Doctor Topie?
C: Yes and I need to speak with SCP (pauses) 69 -(laughter continues for 2-3 minutes)-
P: ……All right Bright I know that's you. I don't know how you got your hands on a phone again but your privileges to them was revoked. And frankly it is not amusing to claim to be a recently deceased researcher. So give me your damn code phrase so I can report your ass.
C: Wait what?
P: CODE PHRASE NOW BRIGHT!
C: Uuummmm
(Caller hangs up)
P: Oh hell no Jerk, you know all the calls are traced just wait until I….
(Personnel hangs up)

Incident report: 516-L-2
After one week of testing containment of scp-5008 was deemed to be low risk by the project lead and as such scp-5008 was placed under normal euclid class object containment procedures. After another month of containment an incident involving scp-5008 occurred similar to incident 516-L-1, in which six site personnel, 2 D-class, 3 on-site security and one janitorial staff member, were rendered completely brain dead and one foundation researcher was rendered comatose for 36 hours. Upon awaking the affected researcher explained through the forcibly uploaded information that scp-5008 was "bored, scared and hungry". Following this it was deemed necessary to revise containment procedures. Following another 6 month long testing stage, now lead by Dr. Cunningham and researcher BLANK due to their obtained knowledge through scp-blank, current containment procedures were developed.
