Approximately 1600 children aged between 0 and 14 are diagnosed with a case of childhood cancer every year.
82% of cancer survivors find out they have later life threatening problems.
Around 1 in 500 children will develop some form of cancer by the age of 14.
Cancer is the most common cause of death in children aged 1-14 years, accounting for around one fifth of deaths in the age group.
Cancer is a dangerous thing but it doesn't just affect the sufferer but also the sufferers family. Many people don't realise that. Shine a light is a charity that seeks to help sufferers of cancer and the family of those victims. Furthermore, they are working with ncs (us) to help spread their charity and raise awareness even more. We at ncs are working closely with them to support them by basing our volunteer day and campaign day to support them. On volunteer day we will be working with shine a light to bring a sports day for the kids. This will be entertainment for them and will make them do things they wouldn't normally do because of their condition.
