SCP-#### in Containment
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-#### is to be kept in a sealed 4 m x 4 m container made of impermeable concrete and sprayed with a waterproof coating. The container must be kept at around 4°C/39°F and with a relative humidity close to 100% to prevent evaporation, unless express permission is granted by O5 to change these for testing. The entrance to the containment container should be accessible only by airlock to retain the humidity and temperature of the room and to ensure none of SCP-#### escapes, in the event that the object leaves the dormant phase.
A waterproof camera is to be mounted on the wall opposite to the airlock door and all entering and exiting wires should be surrounded by sealant.
Description: SCP-#### is a puddle of blue fluid with a surface area of roughly 2.6 m2, although the exact shape differs with movement, which is chemically identical to water.
Below 12°C/54°F, the object enters a dormant state. In this state, it is incapable of movement or digestion and exhibits no anomalous properties. However, above this temperature, the object seems to gain primitive sentience and becomes animate. The object is capable of movement, although it is slow, and is able to change its shape to fit through crevices. If the temperature is high enough and the humidity low enough, evaporation will occur and the object will enter its gaseous state wherein it can travel far more easily to its destination. Do not lower the temperature of the degrees below 0°C/32°F as this will result in freezing and [REDACTED]. This occurred during a testing on ██-██-████, causing [REDACTED] and 7 fatalities.
When SCP-#### enters its animate state, it will immediately seek out the area with the highest density of living organisms using some form of predatory instinct before reverting to its natural state and remaining motionless. Any object or organism placed on SCP-####'s surface after this point will be subject to its effects until the object has returned to its dormant state. If an object or organism steps fully onto the surface of SCP-####, they will begin to slowly sink into it (even though the object's depth has never been measured as more than 2.41 cm). This continues until the target is completely submerged, although they report that they are still stood on top of the object, their feet on the floor at the bottom of the puddle. Measuring during this process reveals that the depth of the object has not changed. It is theorised that the object/organism is transported through the surface to a pocket dimension which functions as a stomach.
SCP-#### then begins to quickly digest the item in question through the process of hydrolysis. This process occurs at abnormal speed, is capable of digesting nearly anything and a typical adult will have been fully digested within 5 minutes. The subject is completely conscious throughout digestion and still believes they are stood atop the puddle. Camera footage shows a similar effect. Once the process is completed, water is released gradually from the object and it is speculated that these are the products of digestion.
The object was first brought to the foundation's attention after a string of disappearances of members of the public and staff from a leisure centre changing room in [REDACTED]. Upon being questioned, members of staff complained about the constant wet floors of the changing room after closing, even though all water was supposed to be emptied directly into the pool via a drainage system.
