Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a host in a standard humanoid containment cell at site-█ and protocol XXXX-1 is to be carried out monthly. If a starvation event manifests prior to scheduled procedure, present researchers or guards may be used as substitute hosts in an emergency.
Description:
When physically manifested SCP-XXXX is a sphere measuring 1.5 meters in diameter composed of a black, viscous, foul smelling sludge. Notably it will at any time have between five and twenty-three legs, and a number of tentacle like growths composed entirely of the same substance.
Addendum XXXX-1
SCP-XXXX will "infest" itself in an individual, referred to henceforth as the host. While infested, hosts will feel a lingering sense of dread, taste blood, and experience nightmares worse than would be normal due to stress or other factors. The longer SCP-XXXX infests a host the more severe the dreams become. It is also to be noted that SCP-XXXX is able to manipulate hosts in their dream state to enhance the terror induced by the dreams. Research has also concluded that SCP-XXXX obtains a form of sustenance from causing terror in the dreams of its host.
Addendum XXXX-2
A starvation event will occur if a single host is infested for more than five weeks cumulatively or either of the conditions are met: The host is capable of lucid dreaming, or the host has a strong enough mental constitution to resist the terror induced by the dreams. During a starvation event SCP-XXXX physically manifests via explosion of the host's cranium before splitting open forming an orifice filled with ██████████████ the host. SCP-XXXX will then attempt to infest a new host via insertion of one of the tentacles into the ear of a new host. If this is achieved the entity appears to deflate and enter the new hosts body through the ear. MRI scans indicate that while infested in a host SCP-XXXX is not physically inside the host's head. The leading theory is that SCP-XXXX hides inside the subconscious mind of infested hosts.

Foreward:
SCP-XXXX was recovered ████████ in an apartment complex under police
suspicion due to a large string of disappearances and mutilations. Initial recovery team was reported MIA and a detachment of MTF Epsilon-6 (Village Idiots) was sent in for recovery of the entity and lost agents.
