SCP-XXXX “The Philosopher’s Sun” [Number pending]
Object Class: Euclid
Containment Procedure: A temporary site designated T-Site 23 is to be established, disguised as a US Army base in the northern section of [Redacted]. T-Site 23 cannot be established anywhere closer as instances of SCP-XXXX-1 spawns at a set distance of 5 miles away from SCP-XXXX. To the public, the establishment of the base is for relief efforts due to Hurricane [Redacted]. A minimum of three teams of MTFs are to be stationed and rotated on a monthly basis until SCP-XXXX can be retrieved. Dress codes will be assigned to different personnel on site to maintain the disguise. Amnestics are to be applied and a cover story given to journalists attending [Redacted]. (See “Operation Ace in the Bridge”)
[Note: “We need to think of a different procedure and fast. Sooner or later the public will begin questioning as to why the relief efforts are taking so long. We got lucky that our half-assed cover story actually worked. If we don’t take action, the existence of SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1 will eventually be realized” ~Dr. Grant]
Description: SCP-XXXX is located in a cave, 5 miles North of from the city of [Redacted]. SCP-XXXX itself has never been seen, but its existence has been theorized by Dr.Grant due to the anomalous instances produced from within the cave. The location of SCP-XXXX was brought to the Foundation’s attention during Incident 021. All personnel and civilians in the North section of [Redacted] were lost. During the Incident, instances of SCP-XXXX-1’s effect was observed by the attempts to combat it. SCP-XXXX-1 is not visible to the human eye or by modern technology. Upon contact with SCP-XXXX-1, the subject immediately disintegrates into dust-like particles.
SCP-XXXX-1 can be harmed by conventional weapons; containment is possible as SCP-XXXX-1 does not possess the ability to phase or teleport through solid matter. Furthermore, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 has not exhibited signs of extraordinary intelligence, strength, or speed (the disintegrating touch does not affect non-organic matter). However, it is uncontainable as instances will “despawn” after 3 hours; SCP-XXXX spawns an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 every 2 minutes (See Experiment 3 for detection protocol). Review of Agent [Redacted]’s helmet feed has led to the discovery that subjects can accurately determine SCP-XXXX-1’s location despite its invisibility. Subjects describe a sense of fear emanating from SCP-XXXX-1’s location. Attempts to discover the form of SCP-XXXX-1 were unsuccessful.
[Addendum 1: after studying Agent [Redacted]’s wounds (See Action Report 1), SCP-XXXX-1’s disintegration effect was discovered to only apply to the area it “attacks”. Thus, it is entirely possible that SCP-XXXX-1 does possess a form and that its attacks are potentially avoidable. Further research must be conducted]
MTF Teams Gamma-5 “Red Herrings”, Gamma-13 “Assimov’s Lawbringers” and Eta-10 “See No Evil” were sent to reinforce the local law enforcement under the guise of US Homeland Security. Analysis of the Incident revealed that much of the casualties sustained was from the initial assault. It is unknown what prompted the assault. SCP-XXXX-1’s advances were halted at 0400, after a perimeter and FOB were established, south of [Redacted],. Due to the seemingly endless presence of SCP-XXXX-1, it was theorized that the origin of its existence was brought about by a different entity. MTF Team Zeta 9 “Mole Rats” was sent to trace the origins of SCP-XXXX-1. During the process, members of Zeta-9 observed an increase in foliage and animals. Agent [Redacted] described this phenomenon as “an increase in beauty the closer [we] got”. Upon reaching the location of SCP-XXXX, members of Zeta-9 began showing symptoms of extreme happiness; repeated exclamations of SCP-XXXX’s beauty and perfection were recorded despite the lack of visual confirmation. Exploration was discontinued as a result but extraction became problematic due to concerns about the memetic properties of SCP-XXXX. At 0300, Zeta-9 was successfully extracted by Eta-10 [See Action Report 2]. Interestingly, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 was only observed in the affected portion of the city and was not sensed during the exploration.
[Addendum 2: After psychological assessment of Zeta-9, it has been hypothesized that SCP-XXXX does not possess any memetic abilities. Rather, the “beauty” it created from its anomalous properties overwhelmed the agents. This then raises the question of why SCP-XXXX-1 exists as well as the potential effects if one was able to get closer to the epicenter. ~Dr.Grant]
