(Tuesday, October 29, 2002 - Prof. Lowe Final Update)

Containment Room C prior to modifications

[SCP-XXXX] is to be stored inside Containment Room C with direct access to Hangar 1. [SCP-XXXX] is to be anchored to a bronze plate, 98.5% purity or greater, 3m x 3m x 0.03m in size. Critical HVAC systems must be maintained to minimize the formation and spread of chloride corrosion to avoid bronze disease. This is imperative as this would render [SCP-XXXX] non operational. A singular allowable plate attachment is a grounding rod, at a minimum depth of 60m, to safely disperse any anomalous static charge away from Site-111. Any personnel working directly on [SCP-XXXX] must wear heavy-duty anti-static wrist bands affixed to the grounding rod to avoid any possible side effects. Personnel with any form of sensory aids or implants are forbidden to directly work on [SCP-XXXX].

A “do-not-enter” caution zone in the shape of a cone is to be clearly painted starting at the entrance door to Containment Room C. The cone is to radiate outward, 40 degrees symmetrically, 20m into Hangar 1.

Containment Room C and Hangar 1 are to be guarded by Task Force Mu-111 ”Wrench Throwers.” Access codes for both entrances are to be reset every seven days by the Site Director. Access is restricted to authorized personnel only. Any unauthorized personnel will be detained with disciplinary actions taken.

All Task Force members and research staff must undergo an additional background check to discover any affiliations, personally or tangentially, with the Church of the Broken God. Bi-monthly monitoring is performed strictly by off-site staff for any side effects of [SCP-XXXX]. Primarily, individuals sympathetic to the Church of the Broken God or displaying sudden contempt for the Foundation. Pro active sequestering of individuals in question for further evaluation off site is mandatory. After evaluation individuals may be permitted to return only with Site Director authorization and 24/7 monitoring. Individuals not permitted to return are administered an appropriate class amnestic for their time at Site-111, then transferred off-site.

The rectangular base of [SCP-XXXX] is 3m x 2m x 1.5m. The primary construction material is a bronze-alloy. Multiple non-destructive tests provided an inconclusive age, ranging from approximately 50 years to 1,050 years. The exterior shell surrounding the base has no apparent doors, access panels or visible controls. The only notable exceptions are a 3.5mm diameter hole on one of the long exterior panels, and a 1m x 1m square opening, centered, on top of the exterior shell.

Two drum rollers are the only complete parts visibly seen through the square opening. Each roller consists of 11 segments, each being 25cm in diameter by 9cm wide. The material characteristics differ drastically compared to the rest of [SCP-XXXX]. Type A segments consist of a quartz base material with a highly polished silver cladding. Numerous sized hexagon quartz crystals in lead settings encompass the circumference. Type B segments are composed of a yet identified black enamel synthetic ceramic. Around the circumference are narrow tungsten inlays in a repeating chevron pattern. There are six Type A and five Type B segments, per roller, alternating between each type.

Above the drum rollers is an assembly of three nested corrugated cones 1.25m in height. A gear and pulley system runs through the cone assembly. The assembly can pivot 90 degrees off to one side by a support frame aided by a gearbox. A flexible pleated bronze tube connects the bottom of the assembly to the lower section when pivoted.

Numerous unknown electrical, mechanical and sub systems are only partially observed. However, due to the density of these systems, not much can be determined even with advanced scanning techniques.

[SCP-XXXX] was intercepted in transfer from a known Church compound located at [REDACTED] to an undisclosed seaport on the Northeastern coast of Spain. Critical intelligence to prepare the strike team was relayed through an embedded Informant. Communication was lost though shortly after the mission. To avoid detection, or being unmasked, it remains unclear. Channels are to be monitored for any further communication.

With the initial assessment completed, Dr. Daniel Lowe (requested from Site-77) and myself (Prof. Emil Lowe, Scientific Department Lead of Site-111) carried out the following test series.

[SCP-XXXX]-Test Series One Date: Wednesday, September 4, 2002 13:17 PM Test Administer: Dr. Daniel Lowe Observer: Prof. Emil Lowe Purpose: The following test is to establish possible interaction with [SCP-XXXX] and gain further access. A standard microphone with a 3.5mm jack will be plugged into the hole on the long side of [SCP-XXXX]. Single words will be spoken. Phrase Observations 10 seconds of silence (control) Nothing observed. A light humming sound, held for five seconds Indicator lights, at opposing corners, blinked in unison three times green followed by one time red. A light humming sound, split into approximately three equal lengths over five seconds Indicator lights, at all corners, blinked in unison three times green followed by one time red. Hello Indicator lights, at all corners, held a steady green light for three seconds followed by turning red for one second. Open Indicator lights, at all corners, held a steady red light for three seconds. On Same as "Open." Off Indicator lights, at all corners, blinked in unison three times orange. Manual A rectangular panel thought to be part of the exterior shell retracts to reveal a second panel. This panel has a recessed hand print with similar indicator lights at each finger tip. Prof. Lowe and myself discuss the safety of proceeding. After outlining what we knew up to that point, we agreed to move forward. My right hand was placed on the recessed hand print. The indicator lights turned green starting from the thumb until all were lite. At this point all the lights blinked three times in unison. A third panel is revealed with six words on a list. No descriptions or otherwise obvious ways to understand the panel on a whole were noticed. The words were as follows: DEBUG DECOMPILE COMPILE PURGE ASSIMILATE TRAVEL With these results, Prof. Lowe and I started planning the next test series.

[SCP-XXXX]-Test Series Two Date: Friday, September 6, 2002 12:29 PM Test Administer: Dr. Daniel Lowe Observer: Prof. Emil Lowe Purpose: Test of DEBUG mode. Notes: I proceeded to speak the first word; DEBUG. What occurred next was [SCP-XXXX] performing an autonomous self check for 5 minute and 37 seconds. During this panels, indicator lights, various mechanisms, power systems, and several anomalous systems were detected by Prof. Lowe on monitoring equipment. After this initial run, we set up additional recording equipment around the perimeter in an effort to map [SCP-XXXX]. Over the span of two and half weeks with subsequent runs of the DEBUG mode we mapped approximately 78%1. It was also noticed that each word would light up with each operation allowing us to correlate each operation. Mode Observations DECOMPILE The nested cone assembly rotated 90 degrees in its support frame. The gear and pulley system engaged to fully extend each cone past the other. After which, each cone expands outward to almost double in diameter. A hollow disc at the base of the outermost cone starts to rotate until reaching 1,500rpm. During the acceleration, three rectangular blocks on the hollow disc partially glow white. Three reality bending signatures are detected. Minor visible warping with similar effects to a mirage was observed. The detected area stretches out in a cone approximately 40 degrees, as far out as 20m. During this time, the drum rollers started to rotate. The crystals on Type A segments emitted an internal red hue and the traces on Type B segments glowed orange. The rollers reached speeds in excess of 2,000rpm, causing the segments to become blurs of orange and red light. A small articulated arm extended beneath the rollers with an approximate 1cm3 hole at the end. It then receded into a panel that temporarily displayed a grid work of slots2. At this point, the panel proceeded to close. A red, orange and green indicator light all blinked in unison. The cone assembly returned to its natural state with any reality warping signatures being fully dissipated. COMPILE The same events that occurred during DECOMPILE mode repeated with the exception of occurring in reverse order. PURGE The cube storage panel moved directly underneath the drum rollers, which began to rotate. Only Type A segments activated. All cubes started dematerializing, losing approximately 0.5mm from the top of each cube before the process reversed. During the reversal, only Type B segments are activated. Type B segments must be responsible for retaining the “blueprint” of the item while Type A segments are responsible for breaking down an item. ASSIMILATE A glass sphere supported by interlacing bands of brass is revealed behind the cube storage panel. A semi-viscous maroon assumed liquid is contained within. Attempted direct studying was not advisable. Clusters of thin orange lines merged and divided at random on the liquid’s surface. A single narrow glass pipe from the sphere goes into a manifold beneath the cube storage panel. However, beyond this point was not determinable. TRAVEL Telescoping rectangular panels extended out from the base on both sides of [SCP-XXXX]. The extension of these panels in addition to [SCP-XXXX] itself increases its length by roughly three times or 9m. While the panels were extending, four reality bending signatures were detected; one at each corner lasting for 10 seconds. They do not produce any visible effects unlike the DECOMPILE and COMPILE modes. Also, what could only be inferred as an anomalous anti-gravity signature was recorded. During this detection [SCP-XXXX] weight altered by (-)1.3%. While most of the key areas of interest associated with each mode were observed, knowledge of other general matters are still unknown: Being able to determine the make and type of power supply for [SCP-XXXX]. Further access to the panel area when saying, “manual,” into the mic was never observed. Any form of computer or data storage could not be determined while running the test series.

[SCP-XXXX]-Test Series Three Date: Thursday, September 26, 2002 11:46 AM Test Administer: Dr. Daniel Lowe Observer: Prof. Emil Lowe Purpose: Will be testing the DECOMPILE and COMPILE modes in parallel. Additional Safety Protocol: All test administers working on [SCP-XXXX] must wear heavy duty anti static wrist bands that are properly grounded. Compliance is mandatory. Notes: Taking observations from the DEBUG mode test series, [SCP-XXXX] was moved to Containment Room C. The DECOMPILE and COMPILE modes were tested with no items placed within the area-of-effect as a control. The warping effect was now fully visible. A cone manifested with a similar appearance and affect to a mirror, but liquid in nature moving constantly. During each mode test attempts to cross the area-of-effect were made. Whether by object or by myself, nothing could breach the barrier. Almost all items were successfully put through the DECOMPILE mode. After an item was taken into [SCP-XXXX]3 it is transformed into a cube. Red, orange and green indicator lights would blink. Recording the color and amount of blinks seen, we established a system to track decompiled items. Knowing this I stated, “COMPILE <item number>,” and each item was successfully compiled. While most tests went as predicted, there were a few notable exceptions: Item No. 12: Standard office printer paper box DECOMPILE A Staples brand copy paper box was torn into pieces. COMPILE The box came out whole without any signs of deformation. Item No. 19: Mechanical alarm clock DECOMPILE A mechanical clock was taken from a waist bin. Before DECOMPILE mode was initiated the clock was hit with a sledge hammer. COMPILE The fragments of the clock came out in the same condition but were arranged in the shape of a question mark. Item No. 23: Mechanical alarm clock #2 DECOMPILE A box with all parts for a Peakeep 4” Twin Bell Alarm Clock was ordered from the factory. COMPILE The box is observed shaking with a muffled ringing heard. Upon opening the box, the clock (fully assembled) is ringing. Item No. 28: Deck of cards DECOMPILE A deck of cards is shuffled. A game of Solitaire is dealt but not started. COMPILE Cards are moved as if played but the game is not finished. Inspecting the draw deck confirms the game can not be completed. Item No. 31: Full chess set DECOMPILE A chess game is set up. Prof. Lowe and I play the game for five turns only. COMPILE The game comes out with various pieces off the board with the white king laying on its side4. Item No. 44: Foundation armored personnel carrier DECOMPILE A Foundation APC was decompiled without issue. COMPILE While the APC came out as expected, a phrase reading, “Why do you meddle with my voice?” is on one of the external panels. The letters that make up the phrase were taken from, logos, equipment labeling, even loose PPE within the APC to obtain all the letters required. Item No. 45: Paper with a single Sarkic symbol drawn DECOMPILE With denial of any item related to the Sarkic cult, a known symbol was drawn on a plain piece of paper. COMPILE PURGE Five seconds after decompiling [SCP-XXXX] moves into a PURGE mode operation. The cube created from the paper is seen to disintegrate. Any further tests with Sarkic cult related items is forbidden. Item No. 47: Paper with the Broken Church symbol drawn DECOMPILE Following in footsteps of Item No.: 45, the symbol for the main branch of the Church of the Broken God (The Broken Church) is drawn on a piece of plain paper. While [SCP-XXXX] engades DECOMPILE mode no cube is formed and the paper is seen blown away. Similar outcomes recorded for the other two branches symbols - Item No.: 48 & 49. COMPILE N/A Item No. 50: Papers with symbols of all three Church of the Broken God branches drawn DECOMPILE Three papers with drawn symbols from all branches of the Church of the Broken God. COMPILE A symbol unknown to the Foundation and not matching any known current Broken Church symbology on a single piece of paper emerges. These items hint at [SCP-XXXX] having some level of intelligence. In addition, demonstrates the ability to discern the intended use of an item and compile items based on that information.

Dr. Lowe displayed signs of fatigue along with difficulty to maintain concentration during test series two. On approach, he informed that he was suffering from moderate to severe headaches since test series one. He was not inclined to make the matter known, originally attributing them to work stress. More disconcerting when further questioned, he remarked on abstract dreams of, “real life events but twisted.” With this revelation, proper precautions to mitigate possible [SCP-XXXX] side effects were initiated.

I would suggest that both Dr. Lowe and yourself get medically examined. You and I would not have gotten this far without taking any chances.

Keep in mind there are those above me keen on learning what will be discovered about [SCP-XXXX]. Blood or otherwise, do not let your relationship with Dr. Lowe cloud your judgment on behalf of the Foundation.

In the interim, Dr. Lowe and I elected to take our medical examinations. While I was cleared, for Dr. Lowe, initial suspicions were confirmed. A fMRI taken of the brain determined his auditory cortex was being over-stimulated by an external source. After debate, we came to a consensus that a potentially anomalous static charge from [SCP-XXXX] was the root cause.

Dr. Lowe was recommended a treatment similar to that for tinnitus. A wireless headset would play at 3 kHz central frequency signal, at 50dB, for 12 minutes in length. The audio would play periodically while sleeping. Pain relievers were also prescribed. Dr. Lowe protested the requirement of not having his hearing aids in at night. A reasonable reaction, potentially hindering his ability to hear security alarms. Assisted by engineering, a vibrating pad situated underneath his pillow, linked to the security system was devised as a solution.

After a 24 hour break, we proceed with the test series three.

Dr. Lowe exhibited an improved physical condition after test series three. When questioned on the treatment effectiveness he responded with the following:

“Mostly. The audio treatment is working well enough, allowing me to get some decent sleep. This is good but the abstract dreams are clearing up. Mostly unintelligible in nature, voices have been fading in. However, I fear this will not be the case considering the trend.”

The subsequent 30 minutes, Dr. Lowe asked questions about his early childhood. Even though friendly in nature, the sudden need to talk about the subject matter was concerning. Dr. Hopson was made aware before the evaluation.

Dr. Hopson: Dr. Lowe, let me start with what I am not here to do. I am not here to manufacture a reason to take you off this project. What I am here to do is inquire, gather and make a fair assessment of your current mental state. I can only accomplish this by an honest exchange of information. Is that a fair request?

Dr. Lowe: That is more than agreeable.

Dr. Hopson: Then let us proceed. How would you describe your relationship with your father, Dr. lowe?

Dr. Lowe: I would say we are on good terms. We can be estranged every once in a while, but that is work for you; especially in the Foundation.

Dr. Hopson: How often do you both communicate?

(Dr. Lowe smiles and has a short laugh at the question.)

Dr. Lowe: If it were up to him, not enough. Part of me thinks he pulled me away from Site-77 so he could see me in person. I do not blame him though, it has been…well…it has been quite a while since we last saw each other.

Dr. Hopson: Fair enough. Moving on to the topic of [SCP-XXXX]. Have you felt any changes in your thought process while in its vicinity compared to not?

Dr. Lowe: Besides the typical forgetting to eat for hours on end conducting a late night test or two, nothing I can say sticks out.

Dr. Hopson: Have you performed any tests by yourself on [SCP-XXXX]?

Dr. Lowe: I may have felt inclined on wanting to see what [SCP-XXXX] would do with a particular item, but no, I have not.

Dr. Hopson: If you do not mind, I would like to talk about the nature of your dreams for a bit.

(Dr. Lowe’s body straightens up.)

Dr. Hopson: It was stated that these dreams started after the completion of test series two. Is that accurate?

Dr. Lowe: Yes, that is correct.

Dr. Hopson: It was also noted that after the recommended treatment these dreams started to change. Voices were being heard. Can you elaborate?

Dr. Lowe: I was a child again. Probably no more than four or five years of age. I was running through a house. It felt familiar. The smell of sea water was in the air. I made my way through the rooms. I passed through a library with a desk, an old leather chair, shelves overflowing with books and papers. There were several articulated mechanical toys on the desk. I moved into a different room. It must have been a powder room due to the large mirror. The mirror itself had an ornate brass detailing around the edge. Underneath the mirror was a vanity with a few visible makeup products on it. Several closed wooden boxes were also on top of the vanity. They must have been music boxes as each one had a classical song title written on them.

(Dr. Lowe pauses.)

Dr. Hopson: That is good. What else do you notice?

Dr. Lowe: The earlier versions of the dream would fade out at this point, but recently they progress further.

Dr. Hopson: What else happens?

(Dr. Lowe sighs heavily.)

Dr. Lowe: I hear a loud voice, possibly two, yell out █████. I instinctively run through the house to the front door and see vague profiles of two people. Not much can be made out. Then, very suddenly, a bright light flashes like lightning. The dream ends at this point.

Dr. Hopson: You said this feels familiar. What part, why?

Dr. Lowe: It just feels that way. I can’t place it. It is just something, somewhere in my mind I know to be true.

Dr. Hopson: I see. Any other events that stick out?

Dr. Lowe: No, that is about it unfortunately.

Dr. Hopson: Okay, that should be sufficient. Thank you for your time, Doctor. If a follow up is required, I’ll do my best to be accomodating.

Dr. Lowe: Very well, Dr. Hopson. Thank you.

Findings/Recommendations: After referencing Dr. Lowe’s background file and confirming with Prof. Lowe, the dreams appear to be accurate to his initial childhood. The two figures, placing and other descriptions (while vague) are indeed potentially concerning. According to Prof. Lowe, there is no feasible way for Dr. Lowe to know of the name █████. At this time, I do not see enough of a risk to prevent Dr. Lowe from returning. However, continued monitoring is advised.

With Dr. Lowe tentatively cleared to return, preparations for test series four were undertaken. A submission for D-class testing of both DECOMPILE and COMPILE modes was approved.

11:41:07 - Subject is escorted to a designated mark on the floor. Dr. Lowe places a vest with recording equipment on her. Initial equipment check is completed.

11:45:16 - Verbal instructions given to the Subject. Several nods of understanding are observed.

11:46:45 - Dr. Lowe takes position to the side of [SCP-XXXX]. Prof. Lowe is located in the monitoring room.

11:47:07 - Dr. Lowe initiates DECOMPILE mode. The Subject disappears.

11:47:37 - After a waiting 30 seconds, Dr. Lowe initiates COMPILE mode.

11:47:51 - The Subject reappeared, however, the vest with recording equipment along with her ankle monitoring bracelet are missing. Appearing visibly agitated, her arms are front of her out of view of the security camera. She is snapping her head around wildly as if she doesn't know where she is.

11:48:00 - Dr. Lowe slowly approaches the Subject, which causes her to quickly turn towards him. A metallic rod with a narrow band of white light near the edge comes into view.

11:48:11 - Dr. Lowe moves within arms reach of the Subject and attempts to deescalate the situation. The Subject grapples with Dr. Lowe, grabbing him by the shoulder. The follow exchange his heard:

Subject: Why are you here, child?

Dr. Lowe: I don’t know what you mean. Please release me. I don’t want the guards-

Subject: You do not know, you do not know your legacy, you do not know of-

11:48:20 - Prof. Lowe enters the testing area and attempts to talk down the Subject.

Prof Lowe: D-905438, release Dr. Lowe and-

Subject: Traitorous flesh! You stole him from us. You stole him…from…me!

Prof. Lowe: I don’t know what you're talking about but release him!

11:48:27 - The Subject throws Dr. Lowe to the ground, then proceeds to charge at Prof. Lowe. After a quick scuffle, she renders him temporarily incapacitated.

11:49:02 - Dr. Lowe runs over to the emergency call button, then proceeds to the Subject.

11:49:06 - Another scuffle ensues with Dr. Lowe being laid out on his back and the Subject straddling on top of him. The following is heard:

Subject: Through this hammer, you shall be made whole. By this lightning, you shall be awakened. With him, you shall be set free.

11:49:10 - The Subject jabs the metallic rod in Dr. Lowe’s right ear. The camera feed is lost for a period of 20 seconds due to a high voltage shock wave. It was audible as far as 1.3km away as well as registering 1.9ML on local Site-111 Richter scales⁵.

11:49:31 - The camera feed resumes. Prof. Lowe has regained footing and is making his way to an unconscious Dr. Lowe. The Subject is not moving. Her body, approximately 25m away, slouched in a corner.

11:50:04 - Site security makes its way to Containment Room C along with medical staff. Both Prof. Lowe and Dr. Lowe are taken to the medical unit. The Subject was pronounced dead on the scene.

(Thursday, October 3, 2002) While sustaining minor injuries to my left wrist, Dr. Lowe is currently stable but unconscious. With clearance granted, I acquired the “hammer” used by the Subject (referred to now as [SCP-XXXX]-1.) Initial research yielded the following report:

[SCP-XXXX]-1 "Hammer" used by the Subject.

Dimensions: 17.8cm long x 2.1cm in diameter.

Weight: 1.73 kg

Physical Description: The lower cylindrical body is matte black and ends with a conical brass tip. The primary material is carbon steel with other trace elements. The upper cylindrical body is comprised of the same synthetic ceramic as the Type B drum roller segments with a black enamel glazing. The narrow ring light as noted in [SCP-XXXX]-IR1 is offset approximately half way down the upper body; no light is currently being emitted. [SCP-XXXX]-1 appears to be sealed with no way to access the internal components.

Notes: Through multiple different scans of the lower body, a profile of a high intensity laser is viewed. Recognizable parts of the video equipment such as the mirror, lenses, and the external flash lamp have been anomalously altered. The combination of all the different battery packs the Subject was wearing have also been anomalously altered to fit inside the upper body. Connecting the laser assembly to the power source are electrodes typically attached to a heart for a pacemaker⁶. In an effort to measure any residual voltage, I went through several successively higher capacity volt meters until obtaining a reading of 16.3kW.

This is extremely puzzling as this is many orders of magnitude greater than the sum total of the amalgamated batteries. It also raises the question of how any individual or the physical location itself did not suffer any form of burning during the discharge? Lastly, with its manifestation, does this mean [SCP-XXXX] was interpreting an unknown intention overlooked by Dr. Lowe or myself?

Further studying will be required.

(Tuesday, October 8, 2002) Fragments of Dr. Lowe’s hearing aids dislodged themselves without any remnants in either ear. They were placed into a sealed storage box for later studying. Consequently, medical staff ordered an X-ray of Dr. Lowe’s upper body. This resulted in a concerning discovery. A network of mechanical and electrical systems had spontaneously manifested around Dr. Lowe’s auditory and speech centers; mainly both inner ears and larynx. No further infection of surrounding areas are noted, despite the direct integration into the nervous system. No other changes have been observed post discovery. Regardless of this, no further assessments can be made until Dr. Lowe regains consciousness.

Dr. Lowe will be moved to Containment Room M-07 for secured observation.

(Friday, October 11, 2002) Dr. Lowe regained consciousness which automatically alerted medical staff. Examinations were ordered for other possible physiological or psychological alterations. Dr. Lowe complied with no resistance. His demeanor during the course of examinations was cold and detached; no verbal communication was attempted. Conversely, he displayed full capacity to hear without assistance of hearing aids. Pending the return of test results, Dr. Lowe was not permitted any visitation.

Dr. Hopson monitored Dr. Lowe via security cameras during the medical examinations. This in conjunction with [SCP-XXXX]-IR1 would prepare for a second evaluation. On recommendation by Dr. Hopson with approval of Site Director Edgar Lynch, I was to be present during the evaluation.

[SCP-XXXX]-Breach Report Date: Monday, October 14, 2002 Type: Video Log Transcriptionist: Tobin Funar, Site-111 Class 5 Security Officer Person(s) Involved: Dr. Daniel Lowe, Prof. Emil Lowe, Dr. Patricie Hopson, Site-111 Security Agents Harris, Peters, Ronald and O'Hare. Forward: A recounting of events during the containment breach. Transcriber Note: The log section of Dr. Hopson’s [SCP-XXXX]-E2 is duplicated in this report as it directly precedes the containment breach for a more encompassing depiction of the event. [SCP-XXXX]-Evaluation Two (Log Only) [Begin Log] 16:35 PM (I enter Containment Room M-07 and set two chairs beside Dr. Lowe, who is now sitting on his bed. Agents Harris and Peters are standing guard inside while Ronald and O`Hare take position outside the door.) Dr. Hopson: Before we begin, it is a relief that you and Prof. Lowe made it through the incident alive and well. (Dr. Lowe scoffs. His voice has a slight reverb) Dr. Hopson: I know the situation is not ideal. I will admit I could never fully grasp what you are going through, but you still have a choice. To put this behind you and walk the path you choose in front of you. Dr. Lowe: While your words of encouragement are generous, I believe that moment has come and gone. What was experienced, what I know now, I can never go back. I am alive, yes, but things are not well. Dr. Hopson: You are anxious. Also, being contained like a SCP is not helping the situation I would imagine. However, as before, I can only help you if we are open and honest during these evaluations. One step at a time, okay? (Dr. Lowe’s posture relaxes. He nods.) Dr. Hopson: Before we progress, can I have permission for your Father to join us? Dr. Lowe: …Sure (Brief pause as Prof. Lowe enters the containment room.) Prof. Lowe: It is good to see you, son. I apologize, no visitors were allowed during your medical examinations. Dr. Lowe: …Emil. Dr. Hopson: Let us begin properly. Dr. Lowe, what was the last thing you remember from the incident? Dr. Lowe: A feeling of urgency. Me running over to the emergency call button, then getting over to the Subject. That’s about it. Dr. Hopson: You were unconscious for a lengthy period of time. Did you have similar dreams to the ones described in our previous session? Dr. Lowe: Yes (Dr. Lowe turns to face Prof. Lowe.) Dr. Lowe: My eyes opened, I was laying on my back. The pale blue sky above me with streaking clouds. The warm sun on my face and the pungent smell of sea air. I stood up and walked along a winding beach. Straddling cliff faces, dozens of meters tall sharply met the beach with Little Swifts flying about. The wind pushed at my back, I didn’t question it. Dr. Hopson: Was there anything recognizable? Dr. Lowe: Everything felt familiar. As if boxed up memories from so long ago were wretched open. An intoxicating mixture of deja vu along with an adrenaline hit experiencing something new for the first time. Dr. Hopson: What did you do next? Dr. Lowe: I traveled an unknown amount of time. The cliff faces eventually sloped down to gentle rolling hills. A small fishing village came into view. An incredible sensation came over every fiber of my being. I knew that’s where I needed to go. (Prof. Lowe is unsettled by the statement.) Dr. Lowe: After entering the village. I walked past several streets. Timber, Finch- Prof. Lowe: …Anvil. Dr. Lowe: Yes. (Dr. Lowe smirks. His voice sharpens.) Dr. Lowe: I walked down to 96 Anvil; The █████ house…my birth parents house…my house! Prof. Lowe: How do you know any of this? No physical records exist- Dr. Lowe: What has you so bothered, Emil? Worried I may know the truth, even things you don’t? Dr. Hopson: Gentlemen, let us calm down and focus, please. Dr. Lowe, continue if you may. Dr. Lowe: I stood at the door. Walking into the house was just like the previous dreams. The library, the powder room. The books, the desk toys. That and so much more. I heard two clear voices calling out to me. I went to the door, my parents…my parents were standing on the dunes across the street. The Mouth of the Broken God was behind them. Dr. Hopson: The Mouth of the Broken God, can you clarify? Dr. Lowe: Our lovely [SCP-XXXX]. Dr. Hopson: Did you interact with them? Dr. Lowe: I ran hard into my mother’s chest and…I just cried. I could barely see through the tears but I could see a smile on her face, Father’s too. We all nestled together. The love they exuded, for the first time in my life I didn’t feel broken. Prof. Lowe: I…I…love you too. Dr. Lowe: Your ignorance to the situation is the only thing holding me back from just screaming! Your intentions…all the best damn intentions…you have no idea nor knew who they truly were! Prof. Lowe: How can you say that? Your parents were my best friends; practically family. They were so proud of you. They told me about your favorite TV shows, toys, and foods. While nothing could have prepared me for that day. The day we lost them in that explosion. I swore I would not let the foster system take you! I knew I could never replace them, but God I tried! Dr. Lowe: An explosion you say? Prof. Lowe: Yes! They died in an explosion while you were at school. The local reports stated it was a bomb that had misfired. They were viewed as terrorists but in my years of knowing them, I saw nothing of the sorts. It was right after that I adopted you. Dr. Lowe: What makes you think they’re dead? This may be difficult for you to understand, Emil. You weren’t working for the Foundation yet. From what they told me, you couldn’t have known. As far as the terrorist- Prof. Lowe: No, don’t you say- Dr. Lowe: A Foundation fabrication. My parents were members of a diverse team comprised of all branches of the Church to rehabilitate the Mouth of the Broken God; a secret experiment. They kept you in the dark, it seems very well in fact. However, you are right about one thing. Adopting me at barely four kept me away from a Foundation upbringing. For that, my parents and I thank you. Dr. Hopson: Can you elaborate on this “experiment” and how your parents are alive? Dr. Lowe: Quite simply, unification of the Church directed by various high level leaderships. The Mouth was seen as a way to achieve this. For my parents, the Foundation was outfoxed, unlike this most recent interception. Preparations and contingencies were in place. Why do you think there were so many cubes in the storage panel? Prof. Lowe: What if this is all nonsense? If this is a legitimate piece of the Broken God, you know the dangers we are exposed too, right? What makes you think you are not being manipulated wholesale? Dr. Lowe: After all this time, my entire life shifting like pieces on a board to just wind up at this moment through a sheer act of serendipity? After nearly 30 years, I finally see the path that was always there for me. No longer a broken child, but a herald to a God! (A long pause) Dr. Hopson: I think that is more than enough for now. We will schedule another session tomorrow. Thank you, Doctor. (Prof. Lowe and myself make our way to the containment room door. Prof. Lowe turns back around.) Prof. Lowe: I don’t know about anything you said; I can’t make sense of it. Regardless, just know this. I love you now just as much as I loved your parents. Agents Harris and Peters follow behind and the door closes.) [End Log] 17:07 PM Note: Audio equipment for a majority of the security system was severely damaged during the breach. Recounting verbal conversations during was unfeasible. 17:11:32 - [Begin Log] 17:12:03 - Dr. Lowe stood from his bed. His head tilted back; mouth fully open. His throat, while barely noticeable on camera, vibrated unnaturally. 17:12:18 - In Containment Room C, [SCP-XXXX] activated. The cone assembly fully extended out. 17:12:23 - In Containment Room M-07, Dr. Lowe lowered his head and walked to the containment room door. 17:12:26 - [SCP-XXXX] discharged a high frequency shock wave measured at 178 db. Camera feed was lost. 17:12:56 - Camera feed returned. Dr. Lowe had breached containment. Agent Harris was incapacitated on the ground. Agent Peters was bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. It is assumed Dr. Lowe shot him during a struggle. Dr. Lowe is not negatively affected by the shock wave7. 17:13:11 - All personnel in the Large and Medical Containment Wings of Site-111 are severely disoriented by the shock wave. Dr. Lowe made haste through Corridor M. A security guard posted outside Containment Room M-02 attempted to apprehend Dr. Lowe. Dr. Lowe managed to free himself, shooting the guard in the shoulder, who then collapsed to the ground. 17:13:48 - Dr. Lowe made his way to Containment Room C which Agents O’Hare and Ronald had taken defensive positions. However, they had not fully recouped from the initial shock wave. The Agents were seen yelling out to Dr. Lowe. After a few exchanges, [SCP-XXXX] released a second shock wave. Camera feed was lost again. 17:14:18 - Camera feed returned. Agents O`Hare and Ronald were both shot laying on the ground. Dr. Lowe placed his mouth just above the keypad to Containment Room C. After four seconds the door opened. 17:14:41 - Dr. Lowe moved to [SCP-XXXX]. A COMPILE operation was initiated. 17:14:59 - During this, a dozen security guards entered Containment Room C. They took position 5m in front of the reality warping cone produced by [SCP-XXXX]. 17:15:07 - The cone dissipates. An armored personnel exoskeleton never before seen by the Foundation is revealed. It is preliminary measured at 4m tall by 1.5m wide. Its appearance mirrors known depictions of Mekhane; the Broken God itself. Dr. Lowe was seen inside. 17:15:12 -The guards commenced firing on the exoskeleton but no damage was taken; bullets ricocheted off it. After a brief intermission, a fire fight ensued. Dr. Lowe terminated all guards. The manner in which he terminated the guards is not clear8. 17:18:04 - Dr. Lowe engaged TRAVEL mode. [SCP-XXXX] shrunk to only a fraction of its original size. Dr. Lowe picked up [SCP-XXXX] with the exoskeleton passing it off to himself inside. He placed [SCP-XXXX] in front of his mouth. The telescoping panels wrapped around Dr. Lowe’s lower face, securing itself like a face mask. A slot opened in the base espousing Dr. Lowe’s mouth. 17:18:21 - Prof. Lowe made his way to Containment Room C and cautiously entered. A heated discussion took place. 17:18:39 - There was a pause in the discussion. Dr. Lowe engaged [SCP-XXXX]. A female and male figure appeared. Prof. Lowe is seen visibly upset and shaken. Their identity was not attainable due to not facing the security camera. After a period of 23 seconds both figures are seen waving to Prof. Lowe with the female figure blowing a kiss. [SCP-XXXX] is reengaged and both figures disappeared. 17:19:28 - Dr. Lowe used the exoskeleton to punch a way through Containment Room C; fully breaching containment. Prof. Lowe was left on his hands and knees before he collapsed to the ground. 17:21:36 - Secondary security personnel moved in to assess the situation. Prof. Lowe is moved to the medical unit. 17:32:49 - While attempts to apprehend Dr. Lowe were organized, the increasing risk of breaking the veil between the Foundation and the general public became too high. Here is the current status of Site-111 related to [SCP-XXXX].

• 24 Security personnel were lost, one paralyzed.
• Five cases of hearing lost and 71 cases of moderate to severe hearing damage of staff members.
• 87% of damage to Containment Room C repaired. Further reinforcing and modifications are in the planning stages.
• Prof. Emil Lowe is currently awaiting debriefing and site reassignment. His valued contribution can not be overstated. Site-111 honors his efforts for us here at the Foundation.

On Wednesday, October 23, 2002 2:33 AM an anomalous radio transmission with its epicenter located in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea was detected. It lasted 35 seconds, repeating 3 times. [SCP-XXXX]-2 (formally Dr. Daniel Lowe; Dr. Daniel █████) and an unknown male and female voice were heard. A calling to unify the Church of the Broken God stating, “One path, one God,” was reiterated several times over the course of the transmission. [SCP-XXXX]-2 claimed to be the Herald of the Broken God.

Wednesday, October 30, 2002 our informant re-established communication with a 14 second in length transmission:

“This will be my last communication. I repeat. Last communication. Returning to home base when safe. Multiple pockets of Church branches have heard the radio transmission. Currently 16.3% of known Church members have realigned to this unification call. Alerting 05 Council heavily advised. End communication.”

We are fully mobilizing a new Task Force to counter [SCP-XXXX] and [SCP-XXXX]-2. Dr. Iris Otto has been brought on board and up to speed on all related matters. Additional resources are being prepared to orchestrate a strike to recapture [SCP-XXXX]. This is a rare opportunity for the Foundation to acquire a Thaumiel class SCP.

Edgar,

I hope you can forgive my lack of formality in this last communication. I truly appreciate the time I have served here at Site-111 underneath your stewardship. It gave me purpose at a time when I needed it most. It gave me a sense of belonging. Focused with like-minded individuals on such noble goals, despite the horrific nature of the work at points. We do what is asked of us, nothing less.

With the events transpiring over the last 8 weeks or so, my age has caught up to me and left me to the winds of the past. Fighting to be a stepfather. Seeing the depth of the rabbit hole with no end in sight. Seeing them again, my friends, my enemies. I would never imagine after nearly a decade of service that this would be the thing to make me retire to the administrative paper pushing sites we always joked about.

…At last, here we are.
