Title, probably: Cracker Barrel, ya know?
Item #: SCP-6969
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-6969-1 instances are completely safe and in no need of any sort of containing. SCP-6969-2 is impossible to contain, but twice a month, 20 two person teams, consisting of two c-class field agents, are sent to various SCP-6969-1 instances to test for any inconsistencies or anything that seems unsafe.
Description: SCP-6969 refers to the Cracker Barrel chain of country-style breakfast diners. There are approx. 650 storefront locations in the United States, hereby referred to as SCP-6969-1. Despite the exterior appearance of SCP-6969-1 instances being non-anomalous, every instance appears visually identical to each other. Anything entering SCP-6969-1 through the front or back entrances will be instantaneously transported to SCP-6969-2.
SCP-6969-2 is a restaurant / country store interior, complete with seats, chairs, a checkout counter, kitchen, restrooms, and other standard restaurant and store items. The country store takes up the right side of the interior, and the kitchen/dining share the left side. No food, employees, furniture, or merchandise is anomalous, only the building itself.
Research concludes that the location has existed for what we know to be the beginning of the universe, and most likely extends to the very end. Upon walking into an instance of SCP-6969-1, the time, date, and location is saved to your person. When you leave, you exit the storefront you came in from. All known SCP-6969-1 instances lead to the same SCP-6969-2 location. SCP-6969-1 instances act as portals, both in locational movement and time movement.
The anomalous nature of SCP-6969 was discovered when a man in ███████, Texas walked into his local Cracker Barrel on 2/3/20██, its last day of operation, and woke up to a store in █████, New Hampshire on its first day of operation about a week later. Foundation field agents heard the news, transported the man back to his hometown and wiped his memory.
It is unknown to the foundation as of now if any entity controls SCP-6969-2, or who builds SCP-6969-1 instances. Upon interviewing employees, they all claim to have “always worked here”, with company paperwork stating their job started a few days before the respective SCP-6969-1 instance was created. Upon interviewing local residents near SCP-6969-1 instances, they have no recollection of the storefronts being built.
