Special Containment Procedures: SCP-6874 is to be contained in a storage locker or standard Foundation crate. SCP-6874 is not to be handled outside of experimentation. Object must be handled with an elongated clasping tool to prevent the anomalous effects. Permission must be approved by personnel at Level 4 security clearance or higher. Only Class D personnel should directly handle the object. In the event that an instance of SCP-6874-1 manifests, staff are required to provide the entity with all requested materials until research personnel are able to clearly identify the consequences of not fulfilling the requests.

Description: SCP-6874 is a Native American war club that displays unusual properties when physical contact is made. At such a time, the subject will immediately feel its effects. Researchers have documented significantly enhanced strength, speed and agility in the subject. The artifact has a moderate psionic effect on the user, causing them to feel compelled to run and hunt in the wild. This can be resisted and doesn’t seem to override their baseline personality. The subject’s brain will release moderate levels of endorphins and high levels of dopamine, inducing a euphoric state. Testing has shown that subjects have a resistance to pain and generally enjoy the experience up until this point.

At approximately 30 minutes after contact, the subject will sense an unseen entity. After an hour, a humanoid entity will manifest. This entity has been designated as SCP-6874-1. A SCP-6874-1 instance appears as a slightly translucent incorporeal entity that manifests after prolonged contact with SCP-6874. It displays the appearance of a 45 year old man of Native American descent, specifically indigenous to the Mid-Atlantic Coastal area and Tidewater region. SCP-6874-1 is typically seen sitting in a squatting position while maintaining a grin that test subjects and research staff deem “disturbing and threatening”.

SCP-6874-1 has shown area-of-effect psionic abilities, including: inducing fear, paranoia and anxiety in those in close proximity to its manifestation. Severe meteorological phenomena is also one of its properties. The effects seem to magnify the longer the entity goes unsatisfied. SCP-6874-1 demands “payment” or compensation for using SCP-6874. The entity claims to have created the anomalous object as a gift for tribal members worshiping it to its high satisfaction. Experimentation and interviewing the entity have revealed that providing it with freshly harvested foods, animal skins and or handmade weapons satisfies it, with nearly all negative effects dissipating almost immediately. Propitiation of SCP-6874 is consistent with Powhatan spiritual practice and is regarded as paramount to a healthy harvest, good health and stable weather.

The entity claims to be the manifestation of Okeus. There are currently no Foundation methods of verifying this claim. Following experiment log 6874-EXP-6, the entity is considered highly dangerous and a significant threat to the safety of personnel when manifested.

Description: Discovery

SCP-6874 is a Native American war club that’s consistent with the style of local tribes in the region it was acquired. It has a snake head on the pommel with squiggling lines curved up the shaft. Research staff have determined that the object is approximately 587 years old. Despite extensive testing, the anomalous properties of the object are mostly undetectable by current Foundation technology. However, anyone that touches or holds the object feel its effects almost immediately.

SCP-6874 was acquired in Pungo, Virginia Beach, Virginia on September 3rd, 2014. It was sealed in a deliberately hollowed out log of species taxodium distichum. Local tribal legends speak of an incident where a weapon, cursed by a demon caused the destruction of an entire village. The survivors were said to have hide the weapon away in hopes of protecting future communities.

SCP-6874 was originally found by a deer hunter Joshua Bucholtz. Upon making physical contact he reported feeling euphoric and highly energized.

Joshua Bucholtz stated that he felt an inclination to hunt with the object and not his rifle, that it felt “totally natural” and that he was almost compelled to do so. While hunting, he claimed to have unnaturally enhanced strength, agility and speed. Joshua Bucholtz shared news of SCP-6874 with his friends back in town and word began to spread of this anomalous object.

Local media reported anomalous meteorological phenomena which lasted for an unusual period of time. The storm remained stationary for 6 hours.

After the Foundation became aware of the artifact and field agents arrived on location, they quickly found the person-of-interest. Agents managed to interview Joshua Bucholtz while he claimed being tormented by a “ghost.” Agents describe the situation as tense, but had no visual confirmation of the entity in the area.

Field agents determined that the meteorological phenomena was centered around Joshua Bucholtz. Due to the increasingly dangerous threat of the situation, field agents terminated the person-of-interest. Anomalous phenomenon ceased virtually immediately. SCP-6874 was recovered from the scene and safely stored for transport to Site-31.

The locals who were determined to have heard of the artifact were interviewed, and those that had any knowledge of the artifact were administered Class C amnestics.
