Item #: SCP-4996

Object Class: Safe (SCP-4996 and SCP-4996-α), Keter (SCP-4996-Ω1), YAHWEH (SCP-4996-Ω)

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4996 is to be kept in a dry, sealed 7x7x7 meter chamber no less than 100 m below ground. Only Foundation personnel with security clearance of Level 3 or higher may be permitted to enter the chamber (with the exception of D-Class personnel for experimentation). The chamber is to be guarded by the remaining members of Mobile Task Force Omega-7 (Pandora's Box), and, at all, times, Dr. Gestalt Zacharia must be present due to his previous experiences with SCP-4996's effects.

Description: SCP-4996 is a chalice of unknown make and origin. It is composed of an alloy that appears similar to gold. However, the alloy that makes up the chalice is indestructible by any means, both non-anomalous and anomalous. The chalice has a ring of crystalline structures embedded into the alloy. These crystalline structures' color is unknown, and may have connections to [DATA REDACTED]. When the chalice is filled with any fluid water (see Addendum 4996-1A), the crystalline structures begin pulsating to the holder's heartbeat. The chalice then begins to vibrate, rapidly increasing in frequency until it begins to fold local reality around itself and its holder. At this point, the fold in reality formed by the chalice causes the holder to disappear into another dimension or universe (thusly designated as SCP-4996-α).

SCP-4996-α is the dimension that SCP-4996 leads to when filled with water. It is a primarily flat plane made up of black and bronze particulate matter that vaguely resembles sand. The atmosphere is breathable by human life, albeit it has a trace amount of an unknown gaseous element. SCP-4996-α's primary inhabitants are SCP-4996-Ω and SCP-4996-Ω1.1

SCP-4996-Ω is a tetrahedral organism with three (3) conical legs at each corner of the main body. The entity's main body is 300 kilometers (km) tall, and is composed of an unknown substance that resembles a rigid dark, bluish-black glass. Its legs are all of uniform height, being 150 km tall, and are also composed of a dark, bluish-black glass. However, the legs are not rigid, and are extremely flexible. SCP-4996-Ω continually moves in one direction at approximately 5 km/hr, stopping every 24 hours. When SCP-4996-Ω stops, it spreads its three legs enough to lower its main body towards the ground of SCP-4996-α. Once the main body makes physical contact with the ground, SCP-4996-Ω is considered to be "rooted," and begins generating instances of SCP-4996-Ω1.

SCP-4996-Ω1 are cylindrical organisms with 3-7 conical legs that are spawned when SCP-4996-Ω roots. They are approximately 2-3 meters tall. SCP-4996-Ω1 instances extremely hostile to any foreign body, and attack in groups of anywhere between 5-50 entities. Their primary form of attack is to impale their targets with their legs, although some instances have been observed to utilize unknown forms of energy to tear apart their target.2

It is theorized that SCP-4996-Ω is a deity-level entity known as "Kek" (the Egyptian god of primordial darkness), and is imprisoned within SCP-4996-α as punishment for an unknown crime (see Addendum 4996-1B).

History SCP-4996 was discovered in Saudi Arabia on ██/██/██44 in a mosque during a Foundation raid on the Chaos Insurgency. The Foundation suffered minimal casualties, and a number of anomalous objects were retrieved during the raid, one of which being SCP-4996.

When SCP-4996 was first activated by Field Agent ██████ ██████, he disappeared into SCP-4996-α, and it became apparent that SCP-4996 needed to be contained. The object now resides at Site-81 in its containment cell.

Addendum 4996-1A: SCP-4996 originally could use any drinkable fluid as a catalyst for its effects until Field Agent ██████ ██████ activated the object on ██/██/██44. Now, it takes only water, with varying degrees of success in activation of its anomalous abilities. To achieve a 100% activation rate, SCP-4996 is to be filled with holy water.

Addendum 4996-1B: Kek's crime seems to be taking such a geometrically perfect form. One ought to look into this further. - Dr. Gestalt Zacharia
