Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 6m x 6m x 6m hermetically sealed Stainless Steel chamber fitted with two (2) phosgene gas sensors and a pump capable of replacing the air inside. These sensors are to be replaced bi-monthly by two (2) Class-D personnel in Class-A hazmat suits, objects exiting the chamber containing SCP-XXXX are to be decontaminated and checked for any traces of phosgene gas. SCP-XXXX can only be interacted with during abscense of phosgene gas within the chamber.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a black, spherical object resemblant of a crystal ball. It has a radius of 7.5 cm, and absorbs all light that shines on it. It seems to emit a slight colourless light, although not visible to the naked eye. Sentient entities that comes into direct contact with SCP-XXXX experience mild nausea and a severe sense of anxiety, this effect has been observed to be temporary and does not cause any permanent damage to affected individuals. Although gloves and do not seem to stop these effects, Class-A and Class-B hazmat suits seem to negate the effects. This has proved to be quite detremental to testing due to the requirement of hazmat suits to protect against phosgene gas.
SCP-XXXX releases corrosive phosgene gas from its surface, this continues untill the air in a
5m x 5m x 5m area surrounding the object has 500ppm of phosgene, it then only releases phosgene gas to maintain the 500ppm. This process appears to cease on a varying interval1 , not releasing any gas for a amount of time2 , after which the gas resumes.
Addendum XXXX-1: Upon initial discovery of SCP-XXXX, Law enforcement in ████████ notified field agents of unusual activity inside a house being reported by multiple individuals living in the neighbouring residences. Foundation agents arrived at the residence on ██/██/████, and entered the building to investigate. The building was immediately evacated and an evacuation order of the surrounding area was called. Agents reported a suspected presense of phosgene gas due to a stench of *'Hay mixed with corpes'*. Two (2) agents were transported to the local hospital as a result of suspected phosgene poisoning.
2 hours later, Mobile Task Force Beta-7 'Maz Hatters' arrived to aid field agents in acquisition of the object.
