SCP-6076, before being stored at Site-54
Item #: SCP-6076
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-6076 is to be kept in a standard secure locker at Site-54. SCP-6076 may only be accessed by at least two Level 2 clearance personnel. Due to its anomalous properties, wearing SCP-6076 around the neck is prohibited. However, physical contact with SCP-6076, in the extent of testing and documentation of its abilities, is permitted.
Description:
SCP-6076 is a grey wool scarf which has no manufacturers tag and no other remarkable features. Physically it does not differ from any other scarf of the same make.
The investigation to deduce the origins of SCP-6076 concluded that the object has been owned by its previous owner for approximately 12 years. The previous owner had been given SCP-6076 as a gift on her 14th birthday on November 10, 2008. However, SCP-6076's anomalous properties did not manifest until 12 years later, even though it had been worn on several occasions. The first instance of anomalous activity by SCP-6076 occured on November 11, 2020 (See Addendum 1).
Whilst wearing SCP-6076 no irregularities are felt by the wearer (from now on referred to as SCP-6076-1). However, as soon as SCP-6076-1 is attempting to remove SCP-6076 from its neck, SCP-6076-1 will express immense signs of distress. SCP-6076-1 will rapidly attempt to remove SCP-6076 from its neck with no success. In the ensuing panic SCP-6076-1 will move SCP-6076 completely around its neck, beginning to strangulate itself with the object.
During this process SCP-6076-1 will still be responsive and beg other individuals in the surrounding area to remove SCP-6076. Even though SCP-6076-1 can be made aware of the fact that it is currently strangulating itself, it will insist that it is still in the process of removing SCP-6076.
After 2 minutes of self-strangulation SCP-6076-1 will fall unconscious due to oxygen deprivation. On condition that no assistance arrives to remove SCP-6076 from SCP-6076-1, SCP-6076-1 will pass away after 3 more minutes of oxygen deprivation (See Addendum 2).
Despite the vast forces used by SCP-6076-1 during self-strangulation, at no point will SCP-6076 be damaged. Given that SCP-6076, physically at least, is identical to a wool scarf it is highly irregular that it derives no damage at all.
SCP-6076's anomalous effect has been tested on several SCP-Objects. The result of every test has been documented. (See Addendum 3).
