Special Containment Procedures: At least 8 instances of SCP-5071-1 are to be held in standard Humanoid Containment chambers at Site ██ at any time. A circular Room with a diameter of 4 meters is to be constructed and a special set of symbols, given by SCP-5071-1, are to carved into the walls. At no time are more than 5 instances to be kept in one room together, except for procedure 5071-Alpha, which is to be carried out every ██ days. Procedure 5071-Alpha will result in the summoning of an instance of SCP-5071-2. It is of yet unknown how to permanently contain SCP-5071-2 instances, and, according to current knowledge, there is no reason to.

Description: SCP-5071 refers to a cult that is made up of an unknown amount of Members, that call themselves 'The Elder Order'. The Members of this cult, that are experienced enough to carry out a ritual, further designated 'procedure 5071-Alpha', become instances of SCP-5071-1. SCP-5071-1 always wear long, black robes with the hood deep in their faces. Their skin has a light-grey color, which is theorized to be a result of procedure 5017-Alpha. Once every ██ days, at least █ Members gather at a random location, which can be anywhere, but is preferred to be a circular shaped space, in which they carry out procedure 5071-Alpha, which is of unknown origin. The Ritual will result in the summoning of an entity designated SCP-5071-2.

SCP-5071-2 is one, or multiple entities of an unknown, extra-dimensional race. The purpose of the summoning, and thus procedure 5071-Alpha, is, as we know, merely the spiritual experience that SCP-5071-1 gather from the ritual. It is currently unknown if the procedure has any deeper meaning.

Instances of SCP-5071-2 appear to be ghost-like entities of varying shape an size. It is unknown if SCP-5071-2 is a single, shape-shifting entity, or a different one any time it is summoned, for it appears to be a matter even unknown to SCP-5071-1. SCP-5071-2 appear to be harmless, except for a slightly aggressive behavior shown when anyone that isn't a member of SCP-5071-1 enters the chamber during procedure 5071-Alpha.

Addendum 5071-A: Procedure 5071-Alpha:

Several Members of SCP-5071 will gather in a dedicated Room at Site ██. There they'll be given an apple, a piece of any raw meat, a metal bucket, a flute, ██████████, and a scepter made of iron.

At first, all present instances of SCP-5071-1 will pull smooth, black masks with a simple leather strap at the back, that can be pulled tight their robes. These masks do not appear to have any openings for the eyes or the mouth, though subjects appear to see perfectly clear through them. It is unclear where these masks come from, because they haven't been fount upon searching any of the subjects, even right after the procedure. Every attempt to take one of these Masks by force has resulted in [REDACTED], so it is also unclear, how they see through these masks.

After every present member of SCP-5071 is wearing their mask, the oldest of them will kindly ask any personnel, that might still be present, to leave the room, "for they will not be able to comprehend whats about to unfold". Entering the room between that point and the end of the procedure requires authorization of at least 2 Researchers with at least Level-5 clearance.

Note: Under NO circumstances is anyone to enter the room during the ritual. I don't care if the whole O-5 council granted you access, you're not getting in that chamber. See Addendum 5071-B, if you don't believe me.

Upon closing the door, two subjects will move to the middle of the room. One holds the apple an the other one the metal bucket. The one wiith the apple will then kneel down and hold the Apple over its head, while the rest of the group starts chanting in a language, that has yet to be deciphered. The Subject with the apple then starts to heavily cry, irrespective of his previous emotional status. His tears are caught up in the bucket. After a variable period of time, which can be anything between 2 and 17 Minutes long, a third subject will then step into the middle of the room, carrying the iron scepter. The subject will then proceed to repeatedly hit the hands of the subject that holds the apple, until he cant hold on to it anymore. The Blood from the hands and the remains of the apple are also caught in the bucket. The Subject that used to hold the apple will then lay down in a fetal position and start to weep.

Then, five other subjects will take ██████████, [DATA EXPUNGED]

Exactly 2.5 seconds after that, a very low pitched tone of unknown origin will sound, that is inaudible to the human ear. A black orb of approximately 2 centimeters in diameter will appear, floating 1 Meter above ground in the exact center of the room. Over a span of 1 Minute and 30 seconds, this orb will grow into the shape of the instance of SCP-5071-2, that has been summoned. The chanting of the subjects in the room, which is extremely loud an passionate at this point, seems to keep the being calm and to keep its physical body in our universe. This effect has proven to be amplifiable through use of a Scranton-stabilizer, if not for long.

The oldest of the SCP-5071-1 in the room will then proceed to slowly walk toward the being, holding the bucket in his hands. He will then stretch his arms out and let go of the bucket, leaving it floating in the air. The Bucket will then float towards SCP-5071-2 and its contents will be drained. It is not known, where they go, but it is theorized that the being absorbs them. After that, all SCP-5071-1 will, while still chanting, kneel down, with their forehead touching the ground. The chanting will suddenly seize and as soon as it does, SCP-5071-2 will disappear with the same low-frequency sound as before. The procedure is then considered to be finished and personnel is allowed to enter the room again.

Addendum 5071-B: Interview with a Member of the elder order:

Interviewed: Instance of SCP-5071-1, formerly "Clark Thompson", age 56

Interviewer: Dr. Manfredsson

Foreword: Subject was not very willing to share clear information, which renders most of the information from the interview useless, though some of it might be of value.

Dr. Manfredsson: Hello mister Thompson. Thank you for agreeing to take part in todays Interview.

SCP-5071-1 sighs

SCP-5071-1: What choice did I have? You people wouldn't leave me alone. What is the point anyways? My people already told many of you, we can't tell you much.

Dr. Manfredsson: And why is that?
SCP-5071-1:** Because the matters we work with, the beings we interact with, are far beyond your comprehension. It is not even upon the order itself to understand them. I think, nobody truly does.

Dr. Manfredsson: Well, I don't know how much you know of the foundation, but there are few things that are beyond our comprehension. Can you at least try to explain it?

SCP-5071-1: I think I can try. It is one, or several beings, even we are unsure about that. We don't know where it came from, but we know, that it is not from this world or another in this plane of existence.

Dr. Manfredsson: Why do you summon these beings?

SCP-5071-1: [REDACTED]. It strengthens our ability to perform the ritual. That is why it's important that always the same people perform it. The more they do it, the stronger becomes their ability. Their experience.

Note from Dr. Manfredsson:

This is a note to all supervising research staff that comes into contact with SCP-5071, no matter in what manner. Especially is it a correction of the false information I shared about SCP-5071-1.

You see, these beings might look human, but they are definitely not. They might just be as far from human as the things they summon. The rest of the document says they're harmless members of a cult, but that's false information I shared, just in case. I also gave the Name 'Clark Thompson' to one of the beings to make it appear more human-like. I guess the first correction i should make, is, that SCP-5071 doesn't refer to a cult or something, but to their, well, race of people, if you can call them that. And yes, they're race is called 'the elder order'. They said, their name would be a word we won't be able to understand, but it would translate to something along those lines. As you can see, I had many, lets say, unofficial conversations with these beings, that do not appear in the logs. Long story short, here I'll give you the actual containment procedures and description of SCP-5071, including one of the conversations I had with SCP-5071-1, that I indeed did record.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5071 can't be contained completely, because random instances of SCP-5071-1 appear regularly around the town of ██████, seemingly out of nowhere. Site ██ has been established to contain as many instances as he foundation can locate. Each instance of SCP-5071-1 is to be locked in a 3 x 3 x 3 Meter reinforced concrete chamber with another chamber around it, each wall at least 5 Meters from the main chamber. The containment chambers are to be located in the heavy containment zone of the Site. At no time are more than 5 instances to be kept in one room together, except for procedure 5071-Alpha, which is to be carried out every ██ days. A dedicated chamber is to be constructed for the procedure. The room has to be of circular shape and have a diameter of 4 Meters. A special set of symbols, that were given by SCP-5071-1, is to be carved into the walls of the chamber. Procedure 5071-Alpha will result in the summoning of an instance of SCP-5071-2.

The only currently known way to contain SCP-5071-2, or rather instances of it, is through procedure 5071-Alpha, but only if carried out by instances of SCP-5071-1. This has proven to be fail safe, even if the procedure is disrupted or not carried out at all up to 3 times in a row. If procedure 5071-1 is failed to be carried out 3 consecutive times, or more, SCP-5071-2 is considered to have breached containment. For that case, MTF Tau-71 ("The Orders Watch") has been formed. Their main objective in case of a breaching incident is to gather as many capable instances of SCP-5071-1 from the surrounding area and, if necessary, force the SCP-5071-1 to commence procedure 5071-Alpha. As soon as the procedure is considered finished, SCP-5071-2 counts as recontained.

Description: SCP-5071 is a race of humanoid beings that have no known origin. Members of this race are designated SCP-5071-1. Their skin is of light-grey color, otherwise they appear to be of normal stature. Instances of SCP-5071-1 always wear black robes made of unknown cloth, with the hood deep in their face. They will never agree to take to robe off for studying of the body, and attempts to take it off by force have resulted in [DATA EXPUNGED]

Instances of SCP-5071-1 have proven to have the following anomalous abilities:

Telekinesis
Superhuman strength
Teleportation over short distances (4.7 Meter max.)
Creating sounds in ways impossible for the human anatomy
Carrying out procedure 5071-Alpha

SCP-5071-1 don't seem to be aggressive, although when provoked, they tend to also use their anomalous powers in an offensive manner.

Procedure 5071-Alpha describes a ritual, that the elder order uses to summon an instance of SCP-5071-2, which they call 'the Shadow'. The procedure is furthermore used to fill the 'symbolic suffering of humanity' into a bucket and then sacrifice it to SCP-5071-2. This is, according to a statement of several SCP-5071-1, to 'keep that at bay, that lives outside of time'. The steps for procedure 5071-Alpha are given by an old writing, that is written on a single sheet of a parchment-like material of also unknown origin. Research on the paper has proven them to be at least 5700 years old, but they're still well intact. The writing itself is not readable, since it is not written in any human language, but according to SCP-5017-1, it contains a small amount of background information on the ritual, SCP-5071-2 and even SCP-5071-1, that's hidden in a kind of philosophy, that SCP-5071 lives by (for more information, see addendum P-71). The paper is currently kept in the high-security archive of Site ██ and is only to be taken out by SCP-5071-1. Instances of SCP-5071-1 themselves also have few knowledge about the writing, the ritual or their own origin. Some instances have stated that the reason of their existence was just to carry out procedure 5071-Alpha and keep SCP-5071-2 from 'taking the suffering by itself', which is approved by the writing.

SCP-5071-2 is, from what we know from the ancient paper, one or several beings, that are supposed to live in a place, that's located outside of every universe and even time itself. This place has been designated 'realm 5071'. Not much is known about it. Tests have shown that realm 5071 appears to posses some kind of gravitational force and a solid surface, though it bends in higher-dimensional angles and is made up of an unknown material, that appears matte-black. SCP-5071-2 have proven to be impossible to contain, but appear to only manifest during procedure 5071-Alpha. Following to that SCP-5071-2 should be no matter of worries, as long as procedure 5071-Alpha is carried out regularly.

Addendum A: Interview log of unofficial interview 'Alpha':

Interviewed: Instance of SCP-5071-1, real name unknown

Interviewer: Dr. Manfredsson

Foreword: This is one of the conversations I've had with an SCP-5071-1. I recorded it using my private cellphone, though I thought it would be useful to log it and add the log to the official documents.

Dr. Manfredsson: Alright, SCP-5071-1, you agreed to answer some of my questions, right?

SCP-5071-1: Yes, indeed. You can call me [UNINTELLIGIBLE SOUND], if you like to do so.

Dr. Manfredsson: Well, [pause] I guess I'll stick to SCP-5071-1. Anyways, could you tell me about realm 5071?

SCP-5071-1 laughs disparagingly

SCP-5071-1: You call it realm as if it's some kind of place. It's not. It is truly not. Say, how many times do we have to tell you? The very being of the shadows is incomprehensible to all that is the life, the existence. The place they dwell in is not a place, it is far beyond that.

Dr. Manfredsson: But we saw a landscape on our video-feed. Several test-subjects and even a researcher have been taken there. How can you say it's not a place?

SCP-5071-1: What you saw, what they saw, was merely an illusion. You see, what is alive, needs a dimension to stay in. What's real, needs a reality. What your cameras and, as you call them, test-subjects have witnessed had no dimension, no reality. And thus, the mind of the life created an illusion and made itself believe, that it was still inside a part of what is real.

SCP-5071-1 starts to raise its voice

Don't you finally understand? They were at no place. The place you saw was just an imagination, caused by the mind not being able to process what was truly unfolding. Even the writing called it a world for the sole reason that there is not word to describe it. Because the life has never required a word for something this [pause] unworldly. Do you really think the phrase we repeat to you, again and again, at the beginning of our ritual, has no meaning? The things we try to keep back are barely comprehensible even for us, though our whole reason of existence is to comprehend.

A long silence follows

Dr. Manfredsson: Alright. I thnink I understand.

SCP-5071-1: No, you don't.

Dr. Manfredsson sighs

Dr. Manfredsson: Can you tell me anything about where you came from?

SCP-5071-1: I think you also spoke to my brethren about that matter already. It is a mystery of reality, that will lay hidden for eternity. We were sent to reality as martyrs for the conservation of existence. Maybe we were send by a greater might. Maybe we come from a similar inexplicable origin as the shadows. Nobody knows. Nobody will know, until, maybe one day, another writing will come upon us. But if it does or not doesn't matter. Why care where our origin is. We are here to carry out a duty, holier than that of any God or greater being, for we are the martyrs. For we are the elder order.

SCP-5071-1 proceeds to stand up and leave the room without awaiting any response from Dr. Manfredsson

Closing Statement: Realm 5071 is also in further documentation referred to as a realm, for the reason that, as SCP-5071-1 stated itself, there are no other means to describe the anomaly.

Addendum P-71: The translated philosophy of the elder order:

A world, far from what is known to the life. Far from what is known to the mind. Their might, far greater that that of any god or devil, reaches out into the world of the life, into the world, that exists. Can you feel it? Can you feel the cold, that knows no mercy, the cold, that knows no time? It is them. They are the shadow. They are the dark. They are nothing, and yet they are reality itself. No, more than that.

Or less?

They come from a time, where there was no time, no difference between existence and non-existence. And they still kept their home like it. When I rant about the place that's far outside of everything, one might imagine a bubble, floating on the endless plane between the universes, but that thought is very wrong. The shadow lives even outside of that. In a place, where everything exists,yet nothing exists. I can tell you as much as I want, but the place is nearly offensive and thus incomprehensible for ever living, purely existing mind and soul.

But their hunger grows. Their wish to turn everything back into a place of darkness and silence, on the bare edge between the void and eternity, grows every second. The only thing, that is able to hold it, is the passion of life itself. You can sure trust me, when I tell you, that pain and suffering are the most passionate things life can give. The dark hungers for passion. It is our duty, our meaning of life, to keep the shadow. For we give them our suffering, they don't come over the existing to take it from them. We, the elder order, the martyrs of reality, we, who tamed the most powerful being of all existence and non-existence. It takes the tears and the blood of life. The food, the source of its very presence, being torn from it. [REDACTED]. It is our purpose.

Experiment log 'Primera 5071'

Primera 5071 describes a series of tests that were conducted to find out what happens, when someone enters the room in which procedure 5071-Alpha is carried out and tries to interact with one of the SCP-5071-2 instances. The idea for this experiment came from a tragic incident, that resulted from the wrong belief, that specially trained, armed personnel could enter the room without danger. Though unplanned, the result of the incident has been added to the experiment log. Except for the incident, all experiments were conducted under the supervision of Dr. Manfredsson.

Incident 06-2011-5071	██/06/2011
Casualties	Agent Goodman, Agent █████, Dr. ███
Protocol	Upon getting clearance to enter the room, Dr. ███ and the Agents enter the chamber during the part of the Ritual, where one subject was beating the other ones hands with the scepter. He stated, that he wanted to see SCP-5071-2 appear with his own eyes, to prove if the result was different from the image of the surveillance cameras. The Subject with the scepter stopped and turned its head in the direction of the foundation personnel, as well as every other SCP-5071-1 in the room. The chanting continued. The video material showed a shapeless instance of SCP-5071-2 appearing from the bucket and completely covering Dr. ███, Agent Goodman and Agent █████. All three disappeared as well as the instance of SCP-5071-2 and the Ritual ended. The SCP-5071-1 seemed very angry, but did not speak about what happened.
Result	Dr. ███ was found in the forest close to Site ██ in the same night he disappeared, without clothing and covered in scars and what seemed to be his own blood. The rescue team reported that upon being asked where he went, Dr. ███ mumbled something about having "suffered outside of time", before falling silent to this day. He never answered any question, even about the remaining of the two Agents. Dr. ███ was transferred to a foundation-owned mental hospital. Access to the Room during procedure 5071-Alpha was strictly forbidden and further testing with D-Class personnel was planned.

Experiment 71-A	██/08/2011
Test-subject(s)	D-4098 (Caucasian male, age 43)
Protocol	D-4098 enters the room upon preparation of the Ritual. As the personnel is asked to leave the chamber, the SCP-5071-1 is told that D-4098 will stay over the duration of the Ritual. Except for a strange look, no signs of disagreement are shown. D-4098 was told that procedure 5071-Alpha was a ritual to summon a harmless demon and that he was there to record it for the foundation. He wasn't told about the surveillance cameras already being present in the chamber. The procedure was carried out as usual, until one of the last steps, when two SCP-5071-1 were ██████████. At this point, a flat, dark circle appeared under D-4098, which was identified to be an instance of SCP-5071-2. The Subject fell right into the circle, as if it was a hole, and disappeared completely. The ritual was again ended early and the SCP-5071-1 seemed even angrier than last time.
Result	D-4098 was recovered at the exact same position as Dr. ███, with similar damages. Subject was shaking, but responsive. He described the location he was taken to as, quote, 'a fucking dark and horrible place'. Subject explained the things it witnessed as 'indescribable' and wasn't able to talk about what was done to him. D-4098 was then kept in a standard humanoid containment chamber for further observation. The only thing the Subject did was sitting on his chair and frequently laughing manically, while screaming, 'there is no god, there is no time'. Subject Terminated. Furthermore has one of the SCP-5071-1 asked Dr. Manfredsson to stop the experiments, since the ritual could not be completed. Request denied.

Experiment 71-I	~██/09/2011
Test-subject(s)	D-9654 (Caucasian male, age 38), D-8232 (Asian female, age 31)
Protocol	Both D-class personnel are equipped with a wireless camera, that is connected to a live-feed, and wait outside of the chamber, until SCP-5071-2 is summoned. Both subjects enter through the door as they're given their sign. SCP-5071 grows bigger and emits the typical low-frequency sound. Even though it should be inaudible to any Human, both D-class press their Hands against their ears and start to bleed out of them. Both loose consciousness for unknown reasons and are absorbed by SCP-5071-2, which disappears shortly after, without emptying the bucket. The SCP-5071-1 storm aggressively out of the room. The camera-feed showed again nothing but black for a while, until D-8232 turned her flashlight on. It didn't reach far, but the light revealed a matte-black landscape with an almost silk-like texture. The Subject wandered around the land for a while, before her light turned off and the screen was black again.
Result	D-8232 was recovered at the usual recovery position, in the same condition as the other subjects. She reported on heavy hearing problems, but foundation hearing-aids made communication possible. She showed the same signs of mental damage as the other recovered D-class. The Subject reported of 'unspeakable' things being done to her in a 'world made of nothing'. Subject was also kept for research and was observed to be walking in circles in her cell, also denying the existence of time. Subject terminated. Furthermore was the place the subjects go to after contact with SCP-5071-2 designated 'realm 5071'.

Experiment 71-N	██/09/2011
Test-subject(s)	D-7067 (Caucasian female, age 27)
Protocol	D-7067 was equipped with a wireless camera and audio communication system, which are both connected to a live-feed. Additionally, they are equipped with a much stronger flashlight. Subject is told to enter the room while the SCP-5071-1 are ████████████████████. The subject obeys and is absorbed by SCP-5071-2. The flashlight is turned on quickly and audio communication established. See communications-log for further information.
Result	Subject was recovered at the usual recovery with the usual marks of travel to realm 5071. D-7067 showed the same behavior as previous subjects and was thus terminated. Furthermore SCP-5071-1 showed serious aggression against research staff, [REDACTED], and needed to be calmed down by force. Also, ██ people vanished in the town of ██████, which was not far from Site ██. A connection to the disturbed rituals has yet to be established, but several SCP-5071-1 insist on it.

Experiment 71-C	██/08/2011
Test-Subject(s)	D-5400 (Caucasian male, age 24)
Protocol	D-5400's ossis femoris is broken through use of a steel rod. Subject is then told to drag itself into the chamber dedicated to preocedure 5071-Alpha during ████████████████. Upon entering, all instances of SCP-5071-1 present in the chamber stop the procedure, though the chanting continues. An instance of SCP-5071-2 materializes in the center of the room. Subject starts to levitate towards SCP-5071-2 and stops approximately 30 Centimeters in front of it. D-5400 starts to heavily cry and scream, before the subject is absorbed by SCP-5071-2. The instance vanishes shortly after.
Result	D-5400 was not recovered and the subjects current whereabouts are unknown. The SCP-5071-1 didn't seem to be angry with the outcome of proccedure 5071-Alpha.

Experiment 71-E	██/08/2011
Test-Subject(s)	D-2549 (Indian male, age 44)
Protocol	The instances of SCP-5071-1 present in the chamber are told, that D-2549 will hold the Apple during this procedure. After a short, unimportant argument with SCP-5071-1, the experiment is agreed to and the procedure begins as usual. The SCP-5071-1 with the scepter approaches. Instead of hitting the subjects hands, SCP-5071-1 hits the subject against the skull with full force. Security is ordered not to interfere. Subject is unconscious, though measured to be still alive. The ritual continues as usual, with an instance of SCP-5071-1 taking D-2549's place. SCP-5071-2 appears and both the bucket and the subject float towards it. The bucket it emptied and dropped. At that moment, D-2549 regains consciousness, though subject shows sings of heavy brain damage. Subject screams as it is absorbed by the SCP-5071-2 instance. The instance vanishes shortly after.
Result	D-2549 was not recovered and the subjects current whereabouts are unknown. Upon being asked for the reason of the way SCP-5071-1 did act during the experiment, the instance just stated, 'You are not the martyrs. We are.'

Final conclusion from Dr. Manfredsson:

Anyways, we need to make sure that procedure 5071-alpha is carried out regularly. I will make sure that enough work is put into researching a way to access realm 5071 without disturbing the ritual. I don't think we'll be successful with it, but maybe we can find a way to contain SCP-5071-2 someday. I mean, we managed to get 2845, so the chances are not completely zero. I just want to hope, that we can find out more about it. The information we have is very little, so we must keep searching, until we find answers.
