Item #: SCP-5000
Object Class: Neutralised
Special Containment Procedures: The Temporal Anomalies Department is to take any steps necessary to prevent the recurrence of SCP-5000, including the continued use of Project Gregorian. All history books, media and calendars have been modified to remove all traces of SCP-5000 and its effects. SCP-5000 is to be treated as a non-existent phenomenon in conversations and discussions.
Should a human experience SCP-5000 in any way, they are to be detained and injected with a Class-T amnestic before being released, where they will be subsequently monitored by MTF Tau-2 ('Time Keepers') operatives in the event that they experience SCP-5000 again.
Description: SCP-5000 is February 30th on the Gregorian Calendar, a temporal phenomenon that occurs every 4 years.
Although the reason behind it is still not known, every occurrence of SCP-5000 in recorded history has involved an deadly unnatural event, including conflicts, massacres and incidents, that begin at the start of SCP-5000 and conclude before the end of SCP-5000.
Due to the successful activation of Project Gregorian in 1939, SCP-5000 has been isolated and successfully moved to a separate reality (SCP-5000-1), essentially removing it from the Foundation's current reality. Despite this, several individuals (SCP-5000-2) still possess the innate ability to experience SCP-5000 on their own for unknown reasons.
Instances of SCP-5000-2 most commonly claim that they experience SCP-5000 as an 'ordinary day' using a method similar to that of lucid dreaming, with the exception that their bodies and minds are entirely awake in the process and that they are free to move around SCP-5000-1 as a result. In addition, they commonly describe SCP-5000-1 as a 'barren place' free of any humans, occasionally filled with the remains of 'dated' buildings and the remnants of human weapons.
