Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Subject’s housing is to be contained a two meter by two meter by two meter chamber with audio. SCP-XXXX’s housing is a meter tall glass cylinder with an open top to allow for maintenance. The inside of the container is filled up to fifty centimeters with soil.

The subject’s diet has changed to include a variety large insects and some small mammals. During digestion, which takes around seven to eight days, the subject is unable to speak. SCP-XXXX is to be fed and watered every seven days nine days in order to sustain SCP-XXXX and to insure a period of silence between the subject’s threats and insults to personnel. See Addendum.

Description: Subject appears to be a large form of Dionaea muscipula with several alterations allowing for verbal communication and higher brain function. Alterations include the addition of a tongue, larynx, and lung-like structures. The roots seem to have formed into a structure resembling a mammalian neural network. This allows SCP-XXXX to understand language and speak, however; it is still unknown how it can receive auditory information or perform certain human vocations without lips.

Whenever the subject communicates to humans, it does so in a threatening manner. SCP-XXXX has declared on several occasions that it wishes to destroy the world or kill all personnel at the Foundation. All proclamations should be monitored but not taken seriously in the future.

SCP-XXXX’s predatory actions are similar to an ordinary Dionaea muscipula, capturing its prey between its jaws and holding it there until the creature dissolves completely in the digestion aiding secretions that are produced. These secretions are mostly made of Jasmonic acid with various enzymes which breakdown its food.

Recovery: The Foundation recovered SCP-XXXX from the British government in July of the year 1949. The files that came with it claimed that SCP-XXXX was discovered by an unnamed and uncredited British explorer in an undisclosed location in Central America. The British government also claimed that they held SCP-XXXX for a year before being handed over to the Foundation but later more confiscated documents hint that that claim was fabricated. At this time no other information about SCP-XXXX’s origin is known.

Addendum XXXX-1: Two instances have accrued where SCP-XXXX has caused personnel to attempt to harm it in frustration due to SCP-XXXX's insults. These were handled by the other on-site personnel before any damage could accrue to SCP-XXXX. Since the incidents, personnel preforming maintenance on SCP-XXXX are to wear ear protection and the feeding schedule has been altered as to insure a third incident does not occur.
