SCP-xxxx's anomalous properties activate when viewed by a sentient human (now refered to as ''subject'') for more than 3,14 seconds. Next time the subject will enter ERM sleep, he/she will experience a dream of him/her being an american soldier in 1968, deployed somewhere in South Vietnam. The subject will interprete this dream as a memory of him/her in 1968. The subject's age, gender and nationality does not seem to interfere with the memory. When confontrated with the age difference, the gender or the nationality of the subject, the subject will simply deny it, explaining that he/she knows what they saw. Following the first dream, the subject will have approximately 15 dreams of him/her serving his/her tour of duty for the next 15 times the subject will enter ERM sleep. The dreams, althought different between each subject, appears to follow a pre-set pattern. The pattern as been split into 3 stages, described below.
Stage 1
Duration: approximatly 5 dreams
Description: Consist of the subject living on a FOB or camp, adapting to Vietnamese weather and life condition. During this period, the subject will gain basic knowledge on how to operate, clean and maintain a M16 Colt rifle, M14 rifle, M1911 sidearm, M26 grenade and M-18 Smoke grenade. It is also possible that the subject may start smoking, even if the subject did not smoke prior to the dream. When asked about the new-found knowledge and habits, the subject will reply that he/she learned that during boot camp. The subject will express nostalgia towards the memories, but it has also been seen gives a sense of dread in certain case.
Stage 2
Duration: Approximately 5 dreams after Stage 1
Description: Subject's dreams will start showing them taking patrols with their platoon. During this phase, the subject may potentialy experience combat and recieve wounds in their memories. These wounds can range between a small cut to full limb removal. The wounds do not appear to be immediately felt, but instead shows to be old and healed. Subjects who have dreamed of losing limbs will awake with the said limb to be surgically amputated. The limb in question will instantaneously disapear during their sleep, leaving a clean stump. When asked about newly appeared wounds, the subject will not be alerted by it and will act as if it was there for a long time. During Stage 2 and 3, the subject's death is possible. Around 28% of subjects will be dead from various reasons during ERM sleep. On rare occasion, the death may be resulted from cancer, either gained from the subject's dreams of him/her smoking or exposure to Agent Orange.
Stage 3
Duration: Approximately 5 dreams after Stage 2
Description: This stage's dream shows the subject being in extreme combat situation and being under intense pressure. These dreams usually revolves around the Khe Sanh firebase or the Viet Cong attack of Hanoi and Saigon during the Tet Offensive. The lethality rate of subjects during Stage 3 is of 86%. The subjects who do not die from Stage 3 will be extremely likely to experience PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Paranoia, depression and insomnia. The chances of the subject receiving a grave injury are extremely likely.
Following Stage 3, SCP-xxxx's anomalous effects will dissapear, but the newfound memories and scars will stay on the subject's body. Suicide after exposure to SCP-xxxx are common with surviving Stage 3 subjects.
