Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3XXX instances are to be stored in standard lockboxes at Site-73.

Testing using SCP-3XXX instances is currently allowed as long as the involved research team or Level 3 personnel is properly informed.

Eventual external reports related to SCP-3XXX manifestations are to be investigated by non-specific field agents on a case-by-case basis.
Class A amnestic use on civilian witnesses is considered a normal measure.
Electrical fires and smoke bombs cover stories are to be implemented by agents as fit for the situation.

Description: SCP-3XXX is the collective of several anomalous bottles of liquid referred individually as SCP-3XXX-1-41. At the current time of writing, the Foundation is in possession of (41) instances of SCP-3XXX and this document is to be updated to reflect this number no more than once per month.

The individual instances of SCP-3XXX vary greatly in size, shape and appearance. Ranging from the most common type of manifestation being 34 bottles of commercial ████ █████ of various brands and materials and the least common being 1 bear-shaped plastic bottle of commercial █████ of the ██████ brand.
Almost all instances show a grey stamp printed somewhere in the label with the words "Extra smoky!". The stamp is always in English. It was not found in any non-anomalous products and was not related to any existing brands. It is hypothesized that instances that do not have this stamp had it removed by civilians, but otherwise had it originally.

Instances of SCP-3XXX have been recovered in 5 different languages and from the following countries: United States(26 instances), Mexico(11 instances), France(4 instances), Brazil(4 instances), Russia(3 instances) and Australia(1 instance).
In some manifestations more than one unit is retrieved at the same time.

SCP-3XXX displays 2 separate anomalous effects, the first being SCP-3XXX's manifestation.
Instances of SCP-3XXX come to exist seemingly at random, spontaneously appearing all over the world mixed with other non-anomalous bottles.
It is yet unknown if SCP-3XXX transforms existing bottles or if it generates a new one.
It is theorized that SCP-3XXX only affects edible or potable liquids.

SCP-3XXX's second and most notable effect is that it is capable of producing smoke anomalously.
This black smoke is unusually thick, similarly to military heavy duty smoke bombs, being able to reliably block vision of observers.
The time which smoke is produced have varied wildly in tests, but tend to stay around the average of 1 hour and 37 minutes.
The process which produces this smoke is currently unknown, and tests suggest that the smoke is spontaneously liberated by the liquid(or it's general area when mixed) without consuming anything as fuel or reducing the mass of the liquid.
This effect is, however, only produced if certain conditions are met. The conditions and their results are as follow:

Condition	Result
The liquid is ingested by a human being through any means.	Smoke escapes subject's mouth and nose.
Sudden force is applied to the bottle.	Smoke forms violently from the liquid, forcibly opening the bottle.
Preparing and presenting food made with SCP-3XXX.	Food exudes smoke.

The process of releasing smoke is unusually painless to human subjects. The smoke only poses a minor annoyance, as even entering direct contact with the subject's or any other human's eyes produces no adverse reactions.
This occurrence is also notable to completely envelop the subject's face and everything above it in smoke. Subjects also state to being able to see through the smoke they release, albeit with slight difficulty.

Emptied bottles become non-anomalous, while liquid poured, ingested and used in food preparation slowly disappears after the smoke ends.
When bottles experience impact, liquid is maintained if it does not leave the inside of the bottle.
Affected bottles are destructible to a certain degree. Lightly damaging it is possible but breaking or wearing the bottle to the point where liquid would leak is not.

+ Access Excerpts of Recovery Log 3XXX-1

The initial discovery of SCP-3XXX in ██████ █████, United States was due to field agents getting hold of rumors about military testing new smoke bombs. After ascertaining that military was not involved, field agents decided to investigate and found the first 6 instances of SCP-3XXX¹.

The first 6 SCP-3XXX instances were mixed with other non-anomalous bottles of seasoning in a civilian barbecue. While most civilians were heavily inebriated with common alcoholic beverages and wouldn't need much to convince, agents were ordered to clean the situation as best as they could. Class B amnestics were administered to all present civilians and covered up with a relevant electric barbecue machine fire story.

SCP-3XXX-1-6 were initially sent to Site-11, where Senior Researcher Dr. P█████ and his team assessed SCP-3XXX and determined it's Safe class. After all preliminary tests were done, the 6 objects were sent to Site-73 for permanent containment and extended testing.

Protocol	D-730071-C is to mix 5ml of SCP-3XXX-2 with milk and drink it.
Results	D-730071-C accidentally drops SCP-3XXX-2 while opening it. No apparent damage was done to SCP-3XXX-2. D-730071-C says expletives. Researcher Dr. Oliveira starts to reprimand D-730071-C when the closed glass bottle bursts open in a rapidly growing cloud of smoke. D-730071-C asks for permission(given) and leaves the room. Smoke continued to be released for approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes.

Subject	SCP-3XXX-3 and D-730071-C
Protocol	D-730071-C is to throw SCP-3XXX-3 at the immediate floor, rapidly pick it up and hold it still to minimize liquid spill.
Results	D-730071-C manages to complete successfully the test protocol. SCP-3XXX-3 acts as described in Test Log 3XXX-3, but in a standing position with the liquid safely inside. D-730071-C asks for permission to leave the room and once it was certain that SCP-3XXX-3 was safe(even if producing smoke) permission was given. Smoke continued to be released for 7 hours and 33 minutes.

Subject	SCP-3XXX-4 and D-730071-C
Protocol	D-730071-C is to hit SCP-3XXX-4 with a hammer, rapidly pick it up and hold it still.
Results	D-730071-C appears to hit the bottle with great force. Same results described in Test Log 3XXX-4, except that smoke continued to be released for 2 days, 11 hours and 7 minutes.

Subject	SCP-3XXX-2 and D-730071-F
Protocol	20ml of SCP-3XXX-4's liquid are to be mixed with oil and used to fry a piece of meat. D-730071-F is to eat this piece of meat.
Results	When the plated meat was placed on a table in front of D-730071-F, the meat began to release smoke before D-730071-F could start eating. Smoke continued to be released for approximately 35 minutes.

Addendum: The thick smoke produced was quickly identified as potentially useful for foundation technology after the first initial tests that assessed SCP-3XXX's Safe classification.
Following tests with safe anomalous memes and active visual hazards proved that the smoke is capable of reliably blocking their effects for the subjects. Subjects state that "everything looks foggy and hard to see", but also that they are able to distinguish general shapes and colors around them.
Since arrival on Site-73, many tests were conducted to understand the nature and mechanisms of SCP-3XXX, aiming to replicate it's effects. Little information was gathered from the tests and the means of how SCP-3XXX works remain a mystery.
New tests and cross-testing are pending permission.
