NOTICE FROM THE FOUNDATION RECORDS AND INFORMATION SECURITY ADMINISTRATION

Any attempts to acquire an SCP-XXXX to gain unrestricted library access will lead to harsh disciplinary actions. All SCP-XXXX's have been logged and a disappearance will lead to immediate investigation into all personnel in wing B3 at the time.

SCP-XXXX
First recorded photo of SCP-XXXX

Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX are to be contained in the on-site library of Site 19. They are to be watched over by the designated librarian for any changes in behavior which are to be immediately reported to Dr. Cox. Similarly, if any of the organism are found to be deceased they are to be report to Dr. Cox for disposal procedures.1

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 30.5 cm tall hexapedal organism that uses its legs to walk, climb, and hold small objects. At first contact it was believed to be an automaton construct, but upon closer examination it was found that the hard mechanical exoskeleton becomes disconnected when the subject becomes deceased, revealing a brain and heart cushioned by a mass of fatty tissue. How this exoskeleton is adhered to SCP-XXXX's body is still unknown, but it is pending investigation at low priority.

The first SCP-XXXX was located wondering the foothills of Wales in the late 19th century by Augustus Waterhouse. He soon relocated it to his home where it immediately found its way to his vast library, and began reorganizing and documenting his books. The Foundation was soon alerted to its presence by ███ █████ ████ and moved it to ████ ██.

The organism seems to gain nutrients by feeding on knowledge and storing it in what Dr. Cox refers to as a "key." This "key" has a standard USB port which is compatible with most modern day computers. How an organism predating the invention of electricity acquired this is still unknown. When SCP-XXXX meets its demise after a recorded 100-150 year long lifespan it leaves this "key" unattached to its exoskeleton in a film we theorize is used for protection against the elements. To remove the film one must ███████████ ██ ██ ████████ ████.

It seems SCP-XXXX reproduces by having its discarded exoskeleton contain small amounts of fatty tissue, which grows to fit the shell over the course of a year. For this time period it prefers dark environments that have enough room for it to reach full height.

Thanks to the current 253 SCP-XXXX we have contained in Site 19 we have managed to digitize most of our physical paper information. One day we hope to relocate them to similar library's in other sites so that knowledge can be shared more rapidly about assets.
