Description: SCP-5929 is an SCP file but it isn't there according to the IT department. There's an unusual affect when you view it where you think it is there and filled in with words. The words usually say that its not there.

The words are different based on who looks at the file. When you look at the file, other people can't see what you see, but you can write down what you see and then they can see that. Sometimes the words change the next time you see them, and it can happen more if you get told what's going on.

We think SCP-5929 is your brain filling in the gaps with what it thinks should be here. People in the articles often seem like stereotypes.

Special Containment Procedures: As SCP-5929 appears to be restricted to Foundation servers, it is effectively "contained". A list of confirmed SCP-5929-1 instances will be kept up-to-date and accessible to all Foundation sites with main database access; personnel attempting to access entries outside of their assigned projects must first consult this list to ensure existence.

SCP-5929-1 instances are to be monitored for any deviations from expected behavior, and other database entries are to be checked for the presence of SCP-5929 at least once every three months. Primary observation will be conducted using D-class personnel (see Addendum 5929.1 for details). If resources allow, a dedicated researcher should be assigned to secondary observation of SCP-5929-1 instances¹, as well as all other entries for which they have sufficient clearance.

Foundation web crawler TIMMY is to monitor the Internet for any reports of SCP-5929-like occurrences. Should any instances be found outside of Foundation servers, containment procedures are to be updated accordingly at the direction of Dr. ██████ (see Addendum 5929.3 for drafts covering several possible scenarios).

The phenomenon has currently only been observed within Foundation servers. This document, the file for SCP-5929, is an SCP-5929-1 instance.

SCP-5929-1 instances do not exist by any known metric other than direct human observation - regular system scans indicate that the "documents" are all blank in accordance with Foundation Type-X information non-existence standards, with dHume² readings of 0. Despite this, upon accessing the SCP-5929 file, subjects typically report that the entry exists, and are able to describe and reproduce its contents with a high degree of precision.

It is possible for different viewers to perceive different versions of individual SCP-5929-1 instances. Characterization of the SCP-5929 file as being either SCP-5929 itself or an instance of SCP-5929, depending on whether SCP-5929 is described as a single file or a phenomenon affecting multiple files;

A Containment Class of either Safe or Euclid, strongly correlated with the above;

A Discovery section indicating that the reader has discovered SCP-5929, typically on the current date;

A log claiming to contain reproductions of SCP-5929-1 instances, often with one or more of the following features:

References to individuals and locations that are purported to be part of or affiliated with the Foundation, covering a variety of backgrounds and roles;

References to individuals and locations that do not exist;

Writing style and substance corresponding to the reader's impressions of each author, based on their title and the brief description provided.

It is conjectured that the perceived contents of SCP-5929-1 instances are related to human pattern recognition capabilities. (See Addendum 5929.6 for Dr. ██████'s notes on this conjecture.)

He realized that, despite purportedly having access to thousands of SCP documents in his capacity as Vice Chair of the Document Review Board, he had only read a fraction of them, and that fraction overlapped with his colleagues to an unusual degree. A survey of documents that had not been reviewed by any members of the board quickly revealed the existence of the SCP-5929 phenomenon.

Addendum 5929.1: Assignment of D-class personnel
Major considerations for documents related to existing projects:

Condition 1: Project utilizes D-class personnel

Condition 2: Role of D-class personnel is not compromised by knowledge of document contents

Condition 3: D-class personnel assigned to project are rotated with sufficient frequency

(Note: Conditions 2 and 3 can be considered satisfied if D-class personnel can safely be administered amnestics.)

For existing projects satisfying all 3 conditions above, D-class personnel should be chosen from those already assigned to the project.

For SCP-5929-1 instances, as well as existing projects that violate any of the conditions, D-class personnel will be chosen at random from uncompromised personnel scheduled for upcoming termination. If a sufficient supply of such personnel is not available, then the remainder can be drawn from newly acquired D-class prior to any other assignment; D-class used in this way are to be amnesticized and marked as such, to prevent cross-contamination.

SCP-5929 does not seem to possess any inherent infohazardous or cognitohazardous qualities. However, due to the fact that SCP-5929 seems to draw on the mind of the reader, an SCP-5929-1 instance might gain those qualities when viewed by a mind containing both awareness of these types of hazards and sufficient understanding of the relevant mechanics involved.

Reproductions of SCP-5929 themselves can contain examples of reproductions of SCP-5929 (or related phenomena), claimed to be written by other subjects. No external records have been found of these other subjects interacting with SCP-5929⁴, and these reproductions seem to be written in the way that the original subject would expect them to be, based on whatever information is provided about the alleged authors. No upper limit has been found for the recursive depth possible (see Addendum 5929.2 for supplemental testing logs). Examinations of these nested reproductions have not found any notable differences beyond semi-localized tonal convolutions⁵, so they have been omitted from the above excerpts for brevity.

5. To illustrate the principle: Say subject A's version of SCP-5929 includes a version by subject B, which itself contains a version by subject C. Then, B's version will be written as A expects B to write, and C's version will be written as A expects B to expect C to write. The achievable depth of coherent tonal extension (DoCTE) varies from subject to subject, but in no test has it exceeded 7 layers before layers start to experience atrophy or total collapse, hence the "semi-localized" designation. Issues: Ending (and maybe even concept) is possibly too old-school/lolfoundation - at the very least, seems off-tone for the rest of the article. Hypothesis seems important, and may be non-obvious (especially given the linguistics test later), but it might be better imparted in a different manner, or left as an exercise for the reader.

Notes: Pataphysics department. Subject nested 13 layers deep.
Result: SCP-5929 assumed the form of a "large multi-headed serpent" and breached containment on layers 13 through 7 before succumbing to narrative exhaustion. Subject survived by escaping to layer 6, but several Foundation casualties were sustained on other layers. All contact with layer 9 and beyond has been lost; subject remarked that "it was as if the entire layer had been eaten".

Issues: Pataphysics reference seems almost mandatory in this kind of article nowadays. But doesn't seem like this adds much to the article/conflicts with the story already established? (Note: "7 ate 9" joke is not mandatory.) (Note 2: consider a Tale)
