Item #: SCP-4174
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Ownership of the building housing SCP-4174, currently designated Site-███, is currently held by a Foundation front company. In the interest of preventing suspicion, civilians are permitted access to the site during the listed hours of operation as well as the SCP itself during its dormant state. The entry points to the SCP in question are to have signs reading “CLOSED” placed on the exterior on Friday and Saturday nights between the hours of 7:00 pm-11:59 pm ET and monitored through video surveillance. When SCP-4174 enters its active state, no less than 2 plainclothes Class D personnel equipped with body cameras are to be escorted by plainclothes security personnel through one of the two entry points, where they are to be sealed within. Under no circumstances are Class D personnel permitted to have cell phones, digital watches, or any electronics capable of producing noise on their person. Any recovered footage is to be documented by research personnel and stored within the media archive of Site ██. Instances of SCP-4174-1 detected attempting to exit SCP-4174 are to be terminated immediately, with Class-A amnestics dispersed throughout the building in the event of any witnesses. Personnel taken to secondary locations within the SCP itself and do not return before it returns to a dormant state are to be considered lost or KIA.
Description: SCP-4174 is an auditorium located within ███████ Movies in [REDACTED]. In its dormant state the auditorium functions normally, displaying no obvious anomalous properties. However on Friday and Saturday evenings beginning at 7:00 pm ET, SCP-4174 will enter an active state. While active, the digital projector will display the selected movie but with its content heavily modified with graphic and disturbing imagery. Individuals below 50 on the Psychic Resistance Scale will react as they would to a typical movie of the genre, such as laughing during modified comedy films or appearing slightly perturbed during modified horror films, whereas higher-scoring individuals who survive the experience are unaffected but more often than not left psychologically scarred by the experience. The films when viewed within the theater have a cognitohazardous effect on affected individuals, compelling them to either bring friends and family to SCP-4174 during an active state or reproduce the atrocities witnessed within the films. Affected individuals who view unaltered versions of the films or their sequels are sent into a violent rage, attempting to destroy the screen they are observing it on while screaming about “hack” directors regardless of their knowledge of the film’s crew.
SCP-4174-1 are humanoid entities that exist within SCP-4174. While superficially resembling humans, they possess no facial features save for eyebrows and a nostril-less nose and in all observed cases appear to wear stereotypical usher uniforms. Autopsies indicate that the top half of the “uniform” is, in fact, a thin hide attached to the skin. 4174-1 instances appear to act as SCP-4174’s guardians, acting to enforce typical theater rules with lethal force. However they typically act more lenient with affected individuals, obeying requests (such as materializing popcorn from thin air when asked) and refraining from killing them in most cases, presumably to ensure repeat business.
Addendum 4174-B: SCP-4174 was brought to the Foundation’s attention after several dozen disappearances and approximately 5 arrests the weekend after the opening night of the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. One of these individuals, currently known as D-7870, was arrested after a series of serial rapes and murders which he attributed to wanting to be like “Darth Binks” despite the fact that the character Jar-Jar Binks had been absent from the film series since 2005 as of the time of writing. D-7870 was taken into Foundation custody after he and several other individuals described at length various scenes within the film that do not exist and becoming extremely agitated, to the point of violence, when individuals refused their offer to watch it with them.
Testing Logs
Experiment 4174-1
Film: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
Notable deviancies from original: N/A
Resulting Behavior: D-4294 sent in. Chairs within SCP filled with corpses not present prior to active state. D-Class shown to a random unoccupied seat by SCP-4174-1 instance. Subject requests adjacent corpses be removed. 4174-1 instance walks away. Film proceeds normally.
Notes: Initial testing inconclusive. Subject reported hearing a child’s voice in his mind after the completion of the film, saying “The movies are always more fun with a friend.” -Dr. Martone
Experiment 4174-1b
Film: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
Condition change: D-4294 sent in alongside D-7870

Upon the scene where the protagonist Rey is held captive by Kylo Ren, “Darth Binks” walks in and [REDACTED]. Film concludes with Kylo Ren killing Luke Skywalker after destroying the Resistance.
Resulting Behavior: D-7870 laughs hysterically during [REDACTED] while D-4294 looks on in horror. At various points throughout the film 7870 turns to 4294 and whispers about minor events in previous movies that “foreshadowed” the modified film.
Experiment 4174-23
Film: The Simpsons Movie (2007)
Notable deviancies from original: During the angry mob scene Krusty the Klown’s pet chimpanzee Teeny successfully kills Maggie Simpson. Afterwards the mob forces their way into the Simpsons’ bedroom whereupon the character Moe Syzslak pushes his way to the front of the crowd and [REDACTED] save for Homer, who they attempt to hang from the tree in his backyard only for the branch to snap under his weight. They then [REDACTED]. The remainder of the film showcases the town’s descent into anarchy until the EPA destroys it with the bomb.
Resulting Behavior: D-2541 appears mildly perturbed throughout the experience whereas D-8673 laughs hysterically throughout. D-2541 becomes agitated and loudly tells 8673 to “shut the fuck up”, only for a 4174-1 instance to suddenly appear in front of him and rip out his tongue with its bare hands. Choking sounds can be heard for minutes afterward after the 4174-1 instance vanishes, while 8673 can be heard laughing even harder.
Notes: As suspected, the effect on an affected subject's mental state remains the same whether the violence is animated or realistic. -Dr. Martone
