Item #: SCP-7888
Object Class: Safe/Euclid/Keter (Euclid)
Special Containment Procedures: [SCP-7888 is only to be contained within a large open field where it can safely float around. This field is surrounded completely by a gigantic fence which is to be powered with electricity at all times. If this fence is not powered SCP-7888 may be able to escape using its dissolving abilities. SCP-7888 has contained within the center of this field and is locked in place by a tall metal beam that locks it in place. SCP-7888 was transported from Site ██ in 2001. It was transported after it attempted an escape through the fence during the middle of a storm. If this is to happen again eighteen (18) team members will begin to play the Christmas song Jingle Bell Rock. This specific song appears to disrupt SCP-7888's behavior and it will begin to shrink as the song is played. If team members report hearing the words "I am become death" or "destroyer of worlds" while overseeing SCP-7888 all team members will be evacuated to a quarantine chamber where they are required to wait for █ days until they have been confirmed safe by psyche staff. If they are proved to be confirmed compromised they will be transported to Site █. ]
Description: [SCP-7888 is usually seen as a ball of fire that was first witnessed in the Mojave Desert in 19██. SCP-7888's origins are unknown at this time. It can shrink down to the size of a marble and expand to be as wide as a football field (48.8 m). If human contact is made with SCP-7888 the SCP will swell to a size of 60 m and will then shrink down to a size of 8 inches until it will swell back to its original size before human contact was made. The human who made contact will not be visible and it is believed SCP-7888 swallows its victims whole in its blob-like state. Team members who have been marked as compromised report seeing SCP-7888 as a giant fetus floating in mid-air instead of a ball of fire. It is unknown if this is an illusion caused by SCP-7888 or not. ]
Addendum: [Additionally, SCP-7888 has been reported to also be vulnerable to classical songs such as "Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt, Op. 23" and "Suite bergamasque" along with multiple Christmas songs, although it is most vulnerable to "Jingle Bell Rock". When SCP-7888 was first discovered it was reported that the song "Let It Snow" could be heard around it. It is unknown if SCP-7888 was broadcasting this or creating it somehow.]
