The Habitat inside SCP-X

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-X Is to be kept in a standard storage unit at Site-73. Bi-weekly, one or more subjects under the age of 12 are to enter SCP-X and engage in contact with SCP-X-1 for no less than one hour. If SCP-X-1 does not engage with subjects at least bi-weekly and for the minimum amount of time, SCP-X will begin to have a feeling of dysphoria emanating from it. This effect grows stronger and spreads farther the longer the needs of SCP-X-1 go unsatisfied, affecting the emotions and general temperament of staff members, and even other SCP, in a negative manner, causing them to act lazily and leaving them with the feeling that they are missing something.

Once SCP-X-1 is satisfied with its interaction, subject is to exit and undergo a short and concise interview process to gather details of their interaction with SCP-X-1 and current interactions with SCP-X-2. After their interview, subject is to be administered amnestics, sent to their place of residence, and monitored for effects of SCP-X-2 along with changes in behavior for a minimum of one week.

Description: SCP-X is small wooden toy chest which is 0.6 meters long and deep, and 1.2 meters long and has a similar design to that of a fictional pirate treasure chest. If observed and/or opened by a subject 12 years of age or older, SCP-X will appear to possess no anomalous properties. However, if opened by a subject under the age of 12, the floor of SCP-X will no longer appear existent, revealing a ladder on the front side of SCP-X which extends 6 meters down into a stunningly large open area which is generally recognizable as an environment similar to that of central-East Africa. Immediately after entering the open area, subject will be greeted by SCP-X-1.

SCP-X-2

SCP-X-1 is an animate plush cheetah cub that is fully aware of its surroundings and capable of human speech, using a simpler, easier to understand way of speaking when interacting with younger subjects. SCP-X-1 also exhibits playful behavior with subjects and enjoys playing games of tag and hide-and-seek with subjects. When not in play, SCP-X-1 has shown to enjoy having simple discussions about subjects' lives and interests. SCP-X-1 has also been very cooperative with its interviewers, having yet to outright refuse to answer a question.

Once SCP-X-1 exits SCP-X, it will be transformed into an instance of SCP-X-2 which appears exactly the same as SCP-X-1, but exhibits slightly different anomalous behavior, having been reported to still be sentient by the subject connected to SCP-X-2, despite appearing as a perfectly ordinary plush cheetah to anyone else.

After initial contact with SCP-X-1, subjects have reported to not feel any fear or even surprise after witnessing the anomalous abilities of SCP-X-1. In fact, subjects have claimed to only feel positive emotions such as joy, excitement, gratitude, and confidence. Subjects have also reported seemingly unlimited energy, along with a lack of hunger, thirst, and any form of exhaustion. Subjects have also noted that the environment SCP-X-1 resides in does not appear to have a typical passage of time, with the sun stuck in the position it would normally be at around noon. This, coupled with subjects’ boundless energy, allow for games with SCP-X-1 to continue on for days if allowed.

Eventually, either SCP-X-1 or subject will get bored, leading to SCP-X-1 suggesting that in “come home with [subject] and maybe stay the night.''. Subjects most often quickly agree with SCP-X's suggestion and climb back up the ladder out of SCP-X, carrying SCP-X-1 with them. Once SCP-X-1 has left SCP-X, it is transformed into an instance of SCP-X-2 which appears exactly the same as SCP-X-1, but exhibits slightly different properties, having been reported to still be sentient by the subject connected to SCP-X-2, despite appearing as a perfectly ordinary plush cheetah to anyone else.

Immediately after leaving SCP-X, subjects have shown to have increased emotional stability, physical and mental endurance, and a higher capacity for empathy. These effects will most often wear off after 2-3 weeks unless subject retains a strong connection to SCP-X-2, in which case subjects has shown to make accelerated improvements in their intelligence, learning capability, empathy, and social skills. These effects will generally persist for as long as subjects keeps its connection with SCP-X-2, but often begin waning once subject passes the age of 16, when subjects usually begin to lose interest in SCP-X-2.
