Item #: SCP-4955
Object class: Euclid

Special containment procedures: SCP-4955 is to remain within at least 5 meters of an active conversation at all times. The conversation must be free flowing, never stalling or completely stopping for more than [REDACTED] seconds. In addition, the conversation must never discuss the same topic more than once and both individuals who are engaging in the conversation must never feel compelled to end the conversation. SCP-4955 must not be contained within [REDACTED] meters of a power supply as SCP-4955 can seemingly detect conversations that are actively occurring within range of an open power socket. There is no specific containment area material needed, SCP-4955 can be safely stored in any location that is away from a power supply and un-engaged conversations.
Teams including a minimum of (48) personnel are required to contain SCP-4955. Teams of 2 are required to split up a 24 hour period into 1 hour periods of constant non-stop conversation. A log book containing interesting topics of conversation is to be left outside of SCP-4955's containment area. Teams are told to cross-off selected topics of conversation prior to entry so that subsequent teams do not pick the same topic again. Level 2 personnel are to be stationed at all times near the log book to ensure that this is performed.
After the previous teams time period has ended, a second team must be waiting outside SCP-4955's containment area and must overlap the first teams time period by at least 1 minute in order to prevent a lull in the conversation. It is very important that the subsequent team has some knowledge of the previous teams conversation topic so that the two topics of conversation can be bridged together in a way that does not appear to be forced. SCP-4955 will follow those engaged in a conversation of interest at a maximal speed of 1 m/s. Failure to abide by these containment procedures will result in SCP-4955 bonding which is described below.
Description: SCP-4955 is a humanoid figure measuring approximately 1.62 meters in height. SCP-4955 resembles a human female dressed in a black religious habit. SCP-4955 appears to be completely docile when listening to an engaged conversation, and it adopts a emotional state of what has been described as outward happiness, often seen to be smiling as it listens to engaged conversation.
Preliminary analysis of SCP-4955 revealed no apparent biological distinction from a human female in regard to observable phenotype and sexual dimorphism. Researchers were however able to perform XRAY, MRI and fMRI scans during SCP-4955's containment procedure. This revealed a completely hollow biological specimen, devoid of tissue or organs. Electro-magnetic spin resonance imaging also revealed that SCP-4955's hollow internal structure was devoid also of any matter at all, including [Redacted]. SCP-4955 does however possess an overall negative charge which is generated through an unknown mechanism. In addition, SCP-4955 lacks the ability to generate a reflection in any reflective surface leading researchers to believe that SCP-4955 is a construct of the human mind. It is for this reason that researchers have begun referring to SCP-4955 not as an organism, but as a phenomenon.
Upon hearing a conversation that ends, either due to dis-satisfaction, boredom, anger or distaste for the conversation partner, SCP-4955 will follow both individuals for the remainder of their lives, keeping at a distance of 1 meter behind the subject. This has been termed as bonding. SCP-4955 can seemingly generate multiple copies of itself depending on the number of individuals involved in the original conversation. These copies are known as SCP-4955-1, SCP-4955-2 et cetera. Its victims are respectively termed as SCP-4955-1-A, SCP-4955-2-A et cetera. The maximal number of recorded copies of SCP-4955 was reported to be [Redacted].
Although SCP-4955 does not harm the subject physically, its presence has been described as unnerving as SCP-4955 can be heard breathing in quiet moments, and the swish of the cloth of its religious habit is a constant reminder to the subject that it is being followed. In its bonding state, SCP-4955 can also generate a reflection which has been described as the worst effect of the bonding. This is due to the ability of SCP-4955 to assume the facial appearance of a subjects deceased loved ones, and in some cases SCP-4955 can also directly communicate with the subject. If this occurs it is important that one does not, under any circumstances, engage SCP-4955 in conversation.
In this state, SCP-4955 has now chosen its subject and will become invisible to others until the death of the subject which in almost all cases is due to suicide in a public place. SCP-4955 will then appear at the body of the subject and will await its next host. Upon termination of the first subject in the original conversation group, all other copies of SCP-4955 will re-assume into their original form. Due to the mode of public suicide, the likelihood of SCP-4955 finding another host is very high. Any individual believed to be in contact with SCP-4955 should therefore be contained in isolation where attempts at psycho-therapeutic approaches can be performed.
Only one successfully documented case of SCP-4955's removal from a subject has ever been recorded.
