*its seeded when a Latin speaker takes in new information, while in a 538-2 or in heavy presence of 538. Dr. Reilly was directly told about the phenomenon by her mentor - it is believed this was within a 538-2 instance in the form of a lecture hall. Dr. Cato was seeded after studying under Dr. Reilly, who's space has become a confirmed instance of 538-2. Dr. Reilly told Dr. Cato about the phenomenon, and also used puzzles** during instruction that are believed to contribute/have contributed to the effect.
/Taking in new information is how it can seed (under certain conditions). Being told about 538 causes learning (of 538 itself) which is sufficient to seed it in the brain (unlike other information one may be told, 538 is not forgettable/*, and does not suffer from the flaws of other human memories). Several types of learning are possible catalysts, like reading a book, solving a puzzle, even doing brain-teasers. The more learning and information intake is stimulated, the better a catalyst the tool will be.
***Part of its effect is the property of being memorable and remaining permanent and prominent. It is called forth sometimes randomly, and sometimes simply more easily than is expected. In some effected specimens, this effect can be overwhelming and damaging - see description.
Immune to:
-memories altering each time they are called upon
-fuzziness and natural decay over time
-head trauma (concussion, etc.)
-cognitive issues (dementia, retrograde nor anterograde amnesia, etc.)

after continued exposure to an infected person, the room can be imprinted too
so her room's whiteboards will have it appear
and then I was gonna write tests where all the white boards are removed, and it appears on the projector, until its written in pen on the walls, or until its cracks in the brick

but im not sure what it's building to…
also I do pictures because the location is one I can visit. Like I was gonna repaint her room number from 207 to be 538, so I could do that and talk about how eventually it will have that effect. Or like how D-bois that get infected (seeded?) will have their database number and uniform number changed to 538
