Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-5171 are to be suspended and contained in a suspended, airtight 50mx50m carbonsteel room. This container should be monitored and surveiled by a minimum security detail of 10, and two 04 research personal at all times. Gravity repulsers are to be stationed on the floor, ceiling, and all sides of the containment chamber. At no time is any instance of SCP-5171 allowed to touch any surface of any object or the containment chamber. Gravity repulsers must be monitored hourly and upon any mishap or mechanical failure be replaced immediately. In the instance of a containment breach, use of onsite nuclear detonation is recommended.
Description: SCP-5171 is the designation given to a group of
50 mechanical entities of unknown make and model. They resemble the skeletal framework of humanoid robots and are made by a still yet unidentifiable metal. The visible wires that make up their arms, legs, feet, and hands seems to be made of some unknown but highly elastic material that glows with white light. Their anomalous properties can be observed when they touch any form of matter or energy, regardless of natural or anomalous properties. Upon touching said matter or energy, the instance of SCP-5171 will begin absorbing the matter or energy in it's entirety, and begin integrating its properties into itself. It can also replicate anything it has absorbed seemingly indefinitely and does not seem to have an upper limit to the quantity of matter or energy it can absorb. If it absorbs technology it will be able to reproduce said technology and its abilities at will. It's body will also begin create a 'shell' that is made of the things it has absorbed. The 'shells' always appear humanoid in appearance, regardless of what is absorbed. If it absorbs biomatter, it will be able to replicate said biomatter and if said biomatter is human, even replicate or create its own 'human shell' that is nearly impossible to tell apart from other humans. If it absorbs matter or energy of anomalous nature, it will replicate the anomalous properties of any and all that it absorbs. SCP-5171 instances can absorb multiple instances of matter and energy at once and incorporate all properties of what they absorb at once. Anything that is absorbed by an instance of SCP-5171 is to be considered lost and beyond retrieval.
It is unknown who, if any, created these instances of SCP-5171. They were found by archaeologists in a dig-site in southern Peru. When reports of ancient, mechanical robots reached Foundation Agents embedded in the South American Archaeological Society, agents were sent to investigate. Agents reported an anomalous energy being outputted by the machines, and all instances of SCP-5171 were moved to Site-53, except for two which were transfered to Site-41 for study. ec
Three days after being moved, the two at Site-41 suddenly activated and began to exhibit their anomalous properties. Site=41 suffered a loss of 73% of all faculties, buildings, staff, and SCPs before onsite nuclear warheads were detonated. Both instances of SCP-5171 were found unharmed, but rendered inert. Video footage of the event was salvaged from the Site-41 ruins. The two instances of SCP-5171 then moved to Site-53 with the rest of the other SCP-5171 instances and containment protocols were modified to their current model.
Addendum: Due to the disaster at Site-41, no personnel may enter or attempt to access SCP-5171's containment room without the written permission of at least three 05 council members. All maintenance staff are to be monitored, and must work at gunpoint. Any staff member caught even attempting to enter will be shot on sight.
