Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be monitored closely. Particular attention should be given to the nature of anomalous activity appearing within the vicinity of SCP-XXXX, as well as the events surrounding SCP-XXXX's acquisition of these anomalies. Research should be focused on determining whether SCP-XXXX itself is the source of these anomalies, whether SCP-XXXX shares a common source to these anomalies, or whether SCP-XXXX is simply attracted to objects and people that present with anomalous behavior.
Description:
Founded in ██/██/████, SCP-XXXX is a clandestine organization that operates with the task of containing anomalous objects, entities, and other phenomena. Since its inception, SCP-XXXX has shown incredible performance and success at containing anomalous objects. Against all odds, this organization has succeeded in protected humanity from a continuously escalating series of aberrant and world threatening activity.
However, closer inspection shows SCP-XXXX's track record to be a statistical impossibility. In particular, a significant number of anomalous objects under SCP-XXXX's care were contained despite being time sensitive and difficult to detect prior to escalating to an uncontrollable level. While the containment of any specific time sensitive anomaly could be contributed to luck, SCP-XXXX has succeeded in containing dozens of such anomalies against all odds. For example, SCPs 498 and 871.
In addition, Observation of historical data shows SCP-XXXX's founding precedes an immediate and significant spike in anomalous activity. It is currently unclear whether SCP-XXXX is an active source of anomalous activity, is evidence of some sort of human precognition to the aforementioned spike, or simply shares a common source with other anomalies.
Regardless, SCP-XXXX has no choice but to recognize itself as anomalous and log itself among its listing of anomalous entities.
Addendum XXXX-1: Further investigation into the source of SCP-XXXX's success has failed to turn up any sort of common source of information to explain its near omnipotent response to world threatening anomalies. Information regarding anomalous activities simply reaches SCP-XXXX through seemingly random and unrelated means with near 100% reliability. Failures due to miscommunication, mishandling, or lack of communication from unaffiliated parties simply has not been observed for anomalies with the highest threat level. In many cases, instances of SCP-XXXX are simply present at the right place and time through no discernible form of direction.
This research supports the conclusion that the entity itself is anomalous, rather than being manipulated or guided by an anomalous entity. Research is ongoing.
Addendum XXXX-2: Containment feasibility experiment #1
5/5/2017: A group of 50 SCP-XXXX volunteers have been selected for this experiment. They have been designated instances SCP-XXXX-1 through SCP-XXXX-50 and will be given extensive training in methods of containment breach. After 1 year of training they will be placed in a public maximum security containment facility for the duration of this experiment.
This test will determine the feasibility of containing SCP-XXXX with unknowing non-SCP-XXXX entities.
5/12/2018: SCP-XXXX instances 1 through 50 have now been placed in ██████ County Maximum Security Prison. Members of this facility were not notified of these experiments and all volunteers have been ordered not to speak of it during their stay. SCP-XXXX-7 and 49 have successfully smuggled breach facilitation devices Alpha and Beta. However, these devices have been locked for 14 days in order to better facilitate this study.
5/21/2018: SCP-XXXX instances 9 13 and 42 have executed the first attempt at an escape through the use of a tunnel. However, the surface was breached at the exact moment and time 7 of the facility's guards were on break and walked directly over the breach. SCP-XXXX Instances 9, 13, and 42 were promptly returned to the facility. These seven guards will be designated possible SCP instances 51 through 57.
5/25/2018: Breach facilitation device beta was destroyed when SCP-XXXX-49 mistook the nature of a gaseous bodily function. Device beta was subsequently dampened and rendered nonfunctional by the aforementioned event. Repair within the containment facility seems unlikely. It is currently unclear whether this failure is due to self containment by SCP-XXXX-49 or simply bad luck. Further study is required.
5/26/2018: A facility guard, now deemed probable SCP-XXXX instance 58, uncovered and confiscated device alpha after a swift slap to SCP-XXXX-9's posterior. Instance 58 has shown no previous history of sexual harassment or attachment to SCP-XXXXX-9 prior to this event.
At this point it seems probable that unwitting guardians of SCP-XXXX temporarily become instances of SCP-XXXX themselves. At least, during their custodianship of SCP-XXXX instances.
5/30/2018: Containment feasibility experiment #1 IS TO BE SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY AND ALL INSTANCES OF SCP-XXXX ARE TO BE RECOVERED. Probable SCP-XXXX instances 51 through 58 are to be administered amnesiacs and monitored going forward.
On this day an unrelated SCP was recovered. Upon investigation this SCP was reported by SCP-XXXX-51. This is the first confirmed instance of aberrant behavior of SCP-XXXX's caretakers outside of the controlled containment environment. Further exposure to SCP-XXXX under these conditions has been deemed a security risk and this experiment is to cease immediately.
Addendum XXXX-3: Containment feasibility experiment #2
8/17/2018: As exposure to SCP-XXXX from unaffiliated personnel has been deemed a security risk we have constructed a nearly inescapable underground facility that can house 20 personnel with minimal outside exposure. This facility has been designated "SCP-XXXX containment facility delta".
Volunteer SCP-XXXX instances 59 through 78 will be contained in this facility for a period of twenty days. The only contact to the outside world will be an elevator to supply food and a contact line to be used to confirm 59 through 78's safety at the end of the thirty day period. The entrance is to be welded shut for the duration of this experiment.
9/15/2018: This experiment has been successful as no anomalous behavior has been detected. Instances 59 through 78 have been contained without exposing anyone to SCP-XXXX and the safety of all instances within have been confirmed. Tomorrow we will extract Instances 59 through 78 and proceed with the next round of experiments.
Longer term experiments are to follow.
9/16/2018: All attempts to open facility delta have failed. This includes measures far in excess of those that should be necessary to enter the facility. Facility delta has now been deemed SCP-XXXX-79.
9/19/2018: The seventeen engineers responsible for the design of SCP-XXXX-79 have been called to the facility to advise on how to breach the facility. What followed was a completely incomprehensible explanation of why this was not possible, even for them. These engineers have been deemed SCP-XXXX instances 80 through 96.
SCP-XXXX instances 80 through 96 appear to be oblivious to the anomalous nature of their construction.
9/26/2018:: An exhaustive nine day expedition down the elevator has failed to reach the facility. Rescuers have been estimated to have traveled no less than eight miles down the elevator shaft without success. This is in spite of the fact that the facility is buried under no more than 20 feet of earth and concrete.
10/03/2018: Further attempts to recover SCP-XXXX instances 59 through 78 have been deemed futile while the exposure of seventeen engineers to SCP-XXXXX has been deemed "Unacceptable". All further experimentation regarding SCP-XXXX is to be henceforth banned.
With the failure of this experiment SCP-XXXX is to be re-classed from "Euclid" to "Keter".
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
WARNING: Under no circumstances is the use of force, or threat thereof, to be used as a means of containing SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX is to be held under voluntary containment in a minimum security facility suitable for human inhabitation, currently Site N-387. Under no circumstances is internet access, newspapers, or other sources of outside agitation to be granted to SCP-XXXX . SCP-XXXX is to attend counseling, be given antidepressants, and undergo self control therapy as prescribed. Consult with the current psychologist on duty in the event of any confusion.
SCP-XXXX is accepting of minor mistakes and issues outside SCP personnel's control. However, failures of duty resulting from negligence or laziness may result in severe consequences. SCP personnel are to show restraint in what information that is shared with SCP-XXXX, particularly if that information is of a negative nature. Lying to the subject outright is discouraged. Deliberately speaking ill of another person in front of SCP-XXXX will be considered a crime equivalent to murder or attempted murder, and will be punished appropriately.
In the unlikely event SCP-XXXX attempts to break containment assigned agents are to politely coerce SCP-XXXX to return. Failing this, personnel are to allow SCP-XXXX to leave if absolutely necessary as a breach represents an acceptably low risk compared to that of a failed attempt at recovery. In the event of a breach, SCP-XXXX is to be considered a Threat Level 1 (monitor, do not engage).
Addendum XXXX -1: Any person that is likely to come into contact with SCP-XXXX is to receive additional sensitivity training. Suggesting that SCP-XXXX use their power intentionally is strictly forbidden, even if in jest.
Description:
SCP-XXXX presents as a typical human male of Southeast Asian descent named Michael Kieu, born April 1992. Subject ages normally. When SCP-XXXX is presented with a source of moderate to severe agitation, typically of the human variety, this agitation source will be immediately removed from SCP-XXXX's vicinity with no apparent cause. To date, no known attempts to locate a source of agitation affected by SCP-XXXX have been successful.
This effect currently appears to require no voluntary action on SCP-XXXX's part, and typically occurs much to the subject's immediate dismay. After each occurrence the bar required for activation appears to diminish slightly. The result is an increasing instability in SCP-XXXX's powers when not properly controlled.
Owing to the self perpetuating destabilization effect that results from usage and the subject's reaction to incidents, testing the extent, nature, and requirements for activation of SCP-XXXX's power has proven difficult. What we do know is SCP-XXXX is capable of affecting objects and people remotely, requiring no direct contact. Observation also suggests that, as of this document's creation date (10/10/2012), only moderate agitation or annoyance is required to activate this ability with no conscious effort on SCP-XXXX's behalf. SCP-XXXX's history suggests that their power can be activated voluntarily by making a direct statement, but this phenomenon has not been observed and would be perilous to attempt to test.
SCP-XXXX displays a great deal of regret for the people affected. This regret, combined with antidepressants and counseling, has reduced recent incidents to nearly 0, despite the lowered bar for activation.
Due to the modest danger posed by SCP-XXXX, personability, and desire to be helpful it is the council's recommendation that SCP-XXXX's care be used as an introduction for new SCP foundation personnel. SCP-XXXX's care shall primarily be a first assignment for security level 1 and B class personnel.
Date: February 1st, 2010
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX
Interviewer: Dr. Emmit Green
[BEGIN LOG]
SCP-XXXX: Did you start the recording?
Dr. Green: Yes Michael, it is on. This is Dr. Emmit Green, holding an interview with Michael Keiu, subject SCP-XXXX. Date February 1st, 2010, roughly 4 years after the initial encounter. Please state your name clearly for the person transcribing this conversation.
SCP-XXXX: Hello, my name Michael Kieu.
Dr. Green: Would you care to tell us how your power originally manifested?
*Prolonged silence*
Dr. Green: Michael?
SCP-XXXX: Sorry. It all started when I was younger, 13 I think. I got into some stupid argument or another with my mom… I don't even remember what it was anymore, just that it was stupid and insignificant. In the middle of the argument I said something to the effect of "I WISH YOU WOULD JUST DISAPPEAR", and she did. Into thin air.
Dr. Green: Were you glad that she disappeared?
SCP-XXXX: I… was just some stupid kid. I was angry, but of course I didn't mean it.
Dr. Green: What happened next?
SCP-XXXX: I ran. Maybe I thought "they" would come after me, or that I would get blamed if they found out. I don't know. A few days later I was approached by a pair of county police officers. Maybe they heard a report of our [SCP-XXXX and his mother] disappearance. Maybe they just thought it was strange to find some kid running around on their own. I don't know. I freaked, you know, and did something stupid. I told them to go away. and they did.
Dr. Green: You mean they disappeared into thin air, correct?
SCP-XXXX: Yes, they disappeared.
Dr. Green: Can you tell me where you went, what you were doing during before you were picked up by our agents, and of any other incidents you can remember happening during that time period? After that I just kept running.
SCP-XXXX: The next six? months were mostly a blur. I spent most of my time in ██████ and █████. I'm pretty sure there were at least five or six more incidents in there. Once involving an old woman, a couple bullies, even an answering machine went silence mid message at one point. Each time it happened more easily than the last… At one point I tried using it on myself. That obviously didn't work though. After a few months of that you guys found me. I've been living here ever since.
Dr. Green: How has that been working out?
SCP-XXXX: It's pretty lonely, but I understand why you keep me separated from the others here. It's been almost 2 years since the last incident though, and I think it will stick so that's great.
Dr. Green: That's good, is there anything else you would like to add?
SCP-XXXX: No I think that's it.
Dr. Green: Alright, thank you for your time Michael. This will help us find documents relating to these disappearances and build a corresponding timeline.
[END LOG]
Note: SCP-XXXX's testimony is consistent with all known documents.
Note: Older documents erroneously report SCP-XXXX as a type green. This is an inaccurate assessment as SCP-XXXX's powers are limited by neither perception nor proximity. This clearly distinguishes SCP XXXX from typical type greens.
Addendum XXXX-1: On 10/19/2015 an agent assigned to SCP-XXXX , one Thomas Mayton, suggested to SCP-XXXX that they deliberately use their power to get rid of some of the more dangerous SCPs. We have, as of yet, been unable to ascertain Agent Mayton' whereabouts or even confirm their continued existence.
All attempts to contact Agent Mayton's locator beacon (local, interstellar, and [REDACTED]) have failed. Without further leads we have no choice but to call off the search. This brings an unfortunate end to the previous 7 years and six months without incident. It is my recommendation that all personnel that are likely to come into contact with SCP-XXXX undergo sensitivity training going forward, and not just personnel directly assigned to SCP-XXXX's care.
Addendum XXXX-2: Yesterday (2/13/2018) agents of ████ made an attempt to kidnap SCP-XXXX , likely for the purposes of weaponization. It is likely these agents had incomplete information regarding SCP-XXXX as, unsurprisingly, these agents were quickly removed from the premises by SCP-XXXX.
What was not expected is the fact that not a single trace of the organization ████ remains. Excluding spies, who were untouched, all ████members seem to have been affected by SCP-XXXX's powers. It is unclear whether SCP-XXXX has always had this capability or whether their power has grown along with the instability. Restraint in containing SCP-XXXX is advised.
