Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
Due the nature of SCP-XXXX, it cannot be moved to a secure location, therefore safety measures must be applied on-site.To restrict unauthorised access and interaction with SCP-XXXX, the already existing fencing has been replaced with barbed and electrified walls. Hardened boron steel padlocks were added to the entry doors. Two motion detectors have also been installed between the inner and outer doors to the containment cell and are to be monitored 24/7.

One security team is to be stationed at the adjacent residence, observing the perimeter of SCP-XXXX at all times. None of the security personnel is to be informed about the anomalous nature of the entity.

Only Research and D-Class personnel may enter SCP-XXXX, with the former needing thorough instruction about the entity’s inner workings before entering and interacting with it.

In case of a containment breach or should SCP-XXXX’s anomalous nature be compromised, the site is to be sealed off immediately with the ground-integrated armored walls and demolished via explosive charges burrowed below the site.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a decaying tennis court that was abandoned around ████ and closed off to the public due to undisclosed reasons. It is currently unknown if the anomalous properties of the entity developed before or after its abandonment, but it has been confirmed that no one is, or is able to be aware of its real nature. SCP-XXXX is located in a small tourist village in ████ ██ ███████ ,████████. It’s properties were first documented when a travelling family reportedly entered the site before its sealing to partake in a few tennis matches between each other. The family was later admitted into the nearest town’s hospital with various gastrointestinal disorders, including a mild gastritis, Crohn’s Disease and dysentery. None died, but the occurrence led to the Foundation mobilizing their assets to contain and study the phenomenon.

Upon entering SCP-XXXX, a vaguely humanoid entity, composed of a bitumen-bound aggregate will appear on the opposing side of the net, emerging from the court’s surface. It will greet the challenger(s) by waving their arm, and a Dunlop-brand racket will materialize in their right hand. If the challenger does not possess a racket with them upon entering the entity, one will be materialized at this moment on the ground besides them. The brand and quality of it seems to be identical to the figure. Then, they will express their wish to play a match of tennis by signaling one of the challengers to go into position. The one chosen to play against this entity is seemingly random.

As soon as the chosen challenger is in place, a standard Dunlop Pro Tour tennis ball will be handed to them, and the entity will ready itself, waiting for the match to begin. The entity always lets the challenger serve first.

All the matches played with SCP-XXXX’s entity are best of 5, following the modern rules of tennis, which the entity is keenly aware of. Any attempts of foul play or bending the rules in any way are met with the challenger being inflicted with severe dysentery, being rendered unable to continue the match.
When the match is over, the entity will bow and wave goodbye. If there are more challengers, it will call forth another one. So far, no recorded person has beat the entity. As soon as a vanquished player leaves the SCP’s perimeter, their memory of the encounter will be permanently altered. They will remember playing a tennis match within the court, but the anomalous nature and appearance of the entity will be forgotten, remaining only a vague memory of a “superbly talented player”.
The loser will also be afflicted with a gastrointestinal illness upon leaving, with its severity being inversely proportional to their skill and overall score against the entity.
