Item #: SCP-4444

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4444 is to be contained in a room at Site-65, behind a reinforced grid with apertures of 3 cm in diameter at most. A 0,5 cubic meters plastic pool filled with water is to be irradiated continually with SCP-4444-1. The pool must be refilled on a daily basis.

12 active fluorescent tubes powered by at least 3 different sources of energy are to be active at all times at Site-6, behind a grid of the same specifications. No additional fluorescent tubes are allowed on site unless autorized by the site director, and only in the event of a replacement. All Site-65 personnel must carry a bottle with at least 50 cl of water at all times and routinely check its water levels to be aware of any containment breach.

Description: SCP-4444 is a fluorescent tube. Analisis of light emmited by the tube is consistent with the spectrum emmited by an standard tube, except for its wavelength, which [REDACTED], far higher values than those of normal visible light. On the other hand, chemical composition of the internal gas seems to be vastly different, consisting of a concentrated mixture of different gases, the most relevants begin nitrogen, ammonia and [DATA EXPUNGED].

SCP-4444-1 is the light radiated by SCP-4444. The anomalous properties of SCP-4444 will become aparent when a body containing water in the liquid or solid state is exposed to SCP-4444-1. After begin radiated for 4 seconds, the water contained in the body will begin to dematerialise at a rate of 4█-1██ cl per minute, depending on the water volume exposed to SCP-4444-1. The water is not observed to transforme into gas, but instead simply dematerializes. This effect will take place even if only the body on which the water is contained is irradiated and not the water itself, altought the dematerialisation  rate will be sensibly lower. Reflection and diffraction of SCP-1444-1 both slow down the dissapearance effect, while refraction doesn't seem to have any effect upon SCP-1441-1 anomalous effects. The type of body containing water also seems to have an effect upon the dematerialisation rate: water contained in sentient animals will only start dissapearing when all other volumes of water connected to the first are gone.

If SCP-4444-1 does not reach solid or liquid water, or if SCP-4444 is not active or is destroyed, the anomalous properties of SCP-4444 will be transfered to the nearest active fluorescent tube within the next ██ minutes. SCP-4444 then transforms into an ordinary fluorescent tube, with exception of the tube gas, which remains a mixture of the aforementioned gases. Because of this, attempts to destroy SCP-4444 in the past have lead to [DATA EXPUNGED], resulting in the intoxication of █ agents and █ class-D personnel and a containment breach of SCP-4444.

Addendum: Experiment log 1572-76.

Experiment 1572-76-01
Date: 15-10-2018
Subject: A bottle containing 1 L of tap water.
Result: Shortly after begin exposed to SCP-4444-1, the water starts to dissapear. At the bottom of the bottle the mineral salts previously diluted in water start cristalising. Complete dematerialization finishes after 12 minutes.

Experiment 1572-76-02
Date: 15-10-2018
Subject: A bottle containing 1 L of tap water. SCP-1444-1 is reflected in a mirror before radiating the bottle.
Result: After being exposed to SCP-4444-01 the water starts to dissapear, altough at a much smaller rate in comparison with the previous experiment.

Experiment 1572-76-03
Date: 16-10-2018
Subject: A especimen of Mus Musculus.
Result: After 3 minutes of exposure, subject starts becoming agitated, running in a frenzy around the room. Death by dehidration follows after 9 minutes.

Experiment 1572-76-04
Date: 18-10-2018
Subject: D-3275.
Result: After two minutes of exposure, skin of the subject becomes wrinkly and flaccid. Subject reports eyes irritation and dyzziness after 5 minuts of exposure. Typical dehidration syntomes start becoming apparent after 9 minutes. After 18 minutes, complete [DATA EXPUNGED] results in partial blindness and subject [REDACTED] for his life. Death occurs after 27 minutes after multiorgan failure.

Experiment 1572-76-05
Date: 20-10-2018
Subject: D-4857, handling a bottle of water of 1 L of capacity.
Result: After 16 minutes, the water in the bottle dissapears. During those minutes, subject does not appear to experiment any apparent syntom.

Dr. Alep note: The effects of SCP-4444-01 seem to favour dematerialization of water outside of the human body. This could be used as a protection from SCP-4444 in case of a containment breach.

Experiment 1572-76-06
Date: 21-10-2018
Subject: D-3206, suited in a reflective coating, with only his left arm begin directly exposed to SCP-4444.
Result: Subject appears to undergo dehidration at a slower rate in comparison with experiment 1572-76-03, except from his left arm, which becames dry and wrinkly after one minute of exposure. Death occurs after █ minutes, following a [DATA EXPUNGED] coagulation in his left arm.

Dr. Alep note: The area irradiated with SCP-4444-1 seems to be the most affected by its anomalous effects, altough further testing is still needed to confirm this.

Experiment 1572-76-07
Date: 22-10-2018
Subject: D-4596, suited in a reflective coating, with only his head exposed to SCP-4444-01. Subject's hair was cropped before the experiment.
Result: Subject reports headache shortly after begin exposed. After approximately 3 minutes, all D-3206 life signs cease, and are only resumed after a supervisor team enter the room to confirm death. D-3206 then undergo [DATA EXPUNGED], attacking the 3 agents with SCP-4444 with unusual strenght while [REDACTED]. This resulted in serious injuries for two agents and the death of a third agent after a containment breach of SCP-4444. D-3206's death occured shortly after. Autopsy of the subject revealed the cause of death to be brain damage due to the formation of [REDACTED], ripping completely the brain tissue.

Note: Following experiment 1572-76-06, all biological testing with SCP-4444 has been suspended and special containment procedures have been revised. Consult Dr. Alep for more information on the subject.
