In the works

Several hundred ships exited hyperspace about 54 million kilometers away from the Planet Earth. Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz, commander of the fleet, was gazing at a small notepad, reading his poetry to himself.

"Sir, we have arrived," his navigator said to him in the garbled language Vogons spoke in.

"Good, tell the other ships to position themselves"

Jeltz looked at the colorful image of the Planet Earth displayed on the screen in front of him. Vogons typically don't have any sort of emotions towards anything, but over the years Jeltz had come to despise colorful planets.

"Sir, the ships are in position"

Now it was time for Jeltz to speak to the planet he was about to destroy.

He leaned forward into the microphone. "People of the Earth, your attention, please. This is Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz of the Galactic Hyperspace Planning Council, as you will no doubt be aware, the plans for the development of the outlying regions of the galaxy require the building of a hyperspatial expressway route through your star system, and regrettably, your planet is one of those scheduled for demolition. The process will take slightly less than two of your Earth minutes. Thank you." He leaned back in his stiff captains' chair, looking at the monitor, as billions of people ran around in terror.

Jeltz leaned forward "There's no point acting surprised about it, all the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display in your local planning department at Alpha Centaur-"

Jeltz didn't finish. The Vogon in charge of radio transmissions interrupted him "Sir, we are receiving a transmission from Earth"

Jeltz was slightly annoyed at being interrupted. "Well, what is it?"

"An earthling who wants to speak with you"

"Well, I'll speak to him"

The Vogon patched the transmission into Jeltz's speaker.

"Greetings your Prostetnic" the voice said.

"Who might this be?" Jeltz answered.

"A representative for the planet Earth, coming to warn you that if you do not leave now, we will take action."

If Jeltz had not been a callous individual, devoid of most emotion(as are most Vogons), then he would have laughed. Instead, he said "I'm sorry, Mr. Representative of the Planet Earth, orders are orders. Besides, you earthlings have only basic nuclear weapons, so I don't think you'll be taking any sort of measures." Jeltz switched his microphone to broadcast to the other ships. "Continue the process"

"Very well," the so-called representative of the Planet Earth said.

Jeltz leaned back "Primitive race. They could barely send a man to their own moon, and they think-" He was interrupted by a sudden, but brief, shaking. It could be felt throughout Jeltz's ship, and through the numerous other ships suspended above the Earths atmosphere

"Sir, we have a problem." Jeltz's navigator said through the intercom. "Our weapons have been deactivated"

Jeltz felt slightly annoyed. "Well, fix them"

"Yes sir"

If Vogons had an imagination, he would have guessed that the earthlings had something to do with the weapons suddenly deactivating, but instead he passed it off as an error caused by his crew, which he would punish them after the job was done.

A few moments later, the navigators voice came through the intercom. "Sir, we have lost communication with the other sh-" the intercom cut out. And so did the lights. The ship was dead, floating in space.

"We appear to have lost power" Jeltz's assistant said, after a few moments in darkness had passed

"Obviously!" Jeltz snapped "See if the door will open."

Jeltz's assistant stood and walked to the door. He tried in vain to open it, first by using the keypad, then by prying at it. "It won't move, sir"

Jeltz grumbled, got up, and tried the door himself. It didn't budge. He pressed his ear against the door to see if he could hear anything. As he did, Jeltz heard faint sounds of gunfire and yelling.

"It appears we have been boarded." Jeltz said

"Who would dare board the a ship from the Vogon Constructor Fleet?" Jeltz's assistance exclaimed

Jeltz stayed silent as footsteps drew nearer to the room Jeltz and his assistant were trapped in

A few moments later, the door burst open, and several armed men entered the room, waving flashlights in Jeltz's face.

"Are you the captain of this fleet?" One of the men demanded at Jeltz.

"I prefer the term Prostetnic, human"

"Whatever. Anyways, your coming with us, by order of the SCP Foundation."

Jeltz shrugged "You know there'll be repercussions, earthling."

"Whatever you say"

Jeltz let himself be led away by the humans from the so-called Foundation.

Back on Earth, the Representative of the Earth smiled as the ships suddenly vanished in a flash of light, as all but one ship had been destroyed. His associate said to him "You know how hard this will be to cover up, right?"

"I do, although I'm sure with the Global Occult Coalitions help, we may be able to help everyone forget about it, or believe it to not be real."

"And the meaning of life?"

"Yes, she has been secured"

Item #: SCP-XXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX-1 and SCP-XXX-2 are to be contained within separate Standard Humanoid Containment cells. The cell SCP-XXX-1 is to be contained in must be heavily reinforced with steel. At no time must SCP-XXX-2 must know the location of SCP-XXX-1. SCP-XXX-2 must have a tracker implanted within it at all times.

If SCP-XXX-2 breaches containment, the protection of SCP-XXX-1 must be a high priority; MTF Epsilon-11 "Nine Tailed Fox" is to be dispatched at the location of SCP-XXX-2

Description: SCP-XXX is an event in which SCP-XXX-2 will hunt down SCP-XXX-1 and terminate it. After being terminated, SCP-XXX-1 will immediately reincarnate at a random location bearing the same form and conscious. It is believed that SCP-XXX has been in existence since 149 B.C.E (See Interview Log XXX-2)

SCP-XXX-2 appears as a male of average build and height, with very few distinguishable features. SCP-XXX-2 has shown remarkable strength and intelligence, and was able to evade numerous Foundation attempts to contain it. SCP-XXX-2 claims to have existed beginning around 169 B.C.E, and gained his anomalous abilities after it 'prayed to the Gods to give him strength'. For more information, see Interview log XXX-1

SCP-XXX-1 appears as a male of Italian origin. SCP-XXX-1 is slightly smaller than SCP-XXX-2, and has displayed far less intelligence. SCP-XXX-1 often displays fear and irritability. SCP-XXX-1 claims to not remember much about its origin, nor why SCP-XXX-2 repeatedly terminates it. SCP-XXX-1 can only be terminated by SCP-XXX-2

Addendum XXX-A: Discovery SCP-XXX was discovered after a citizen noticed SCP-XXX-1, and claimed that it matched a man in a photograph taken in the year 1937. The citizen posted on social media the photograph taken in 1937 and a photograph of SCP-XXX-1. The Foundation investigated the claim and tracked down SCP-XXX-1 using facial recognition processes seconds before it was terminated by SCP-XXX-2. SCP-XXX-2 evaded the Foundation, and escaped. Minutes later facial recognition picked up an image of SCP-XXX-1 582 Kilometers away from where he was terminated. SCP-XXX-1 was eventually captured.

Dr. Ford: Hello SCP-XXX-1
SCP-XXX-1: I thought you…
Dr. Ford: You thought I what?
SCP-XXX-1: Nothing
Dr. Ford: What do you mean nothing? What were you about to say?
SCP-XXX-1: I forgot what I was going to say, sorry. Sometimes my thought process feels like it is blocked by a concrete wall
Dr. Ford: Err, okay. So… are you aware that when you die, you reincarnate.
SCP-XXX-1: Yes, I very much understand that.
Dr. Ford: So, do you know why this happens?
SCP-XXX-1: I don't know, really. All I know is there is this one man that keeps doing it.
Dr. Ford: Keeps killing you?
SCP-XXX-1:* Yes! And before you ask me why, I don't know why! It's been going on forever now, and I just want to live my life without dying at the hands of that person!
Dr. Ford:** This man you speak of… was he the one that had terminated you before we had captured you?
SCP-XXX-1: It's always the same person. No matter how I die, it's always him. One time I fell down a cliff, and I came out without a single scratch, but that evil bastard stabs me in the chest, and I bleed out within a minute!
Dr. Ford: Well, don't worry. He can't get you in here.
SCP-XXX-1: I very much doubt that.

NOTE: Shortly after the interview with SCP-XXX-1, SCP-XXX-2 was captured by Foundation assets

Interview XXX-2
Interviewer: Dr. Ford
Interviewee: SCP-XXX-2
<BEGIN LOG>
Dr. Ford: Hello SCP-XXX-2, I am Dr. Ford, I'll be interviewing you today
SCP-XXX-2: Don't call me that.
Dr. Ford: Is there a name you'd rather be called by?
SCP-XXX-2: Danel.
Dr. Ford: Okay, err, Danel… Could you tell me, why do you repeatedly want to terminate SCP-XXX-1?
SCP-XXX-2: If you are referring to that sniveling excuse for a man, it is on a personal level. I'm afraid you would not understand.
Dr. Ford: Could you try anyway?
SCP-XXX-2: So you can scribble it on your little notepad? Honestly, you Foundation types don't care about my mission. You just want to bar me from doing something that I've been doing for three thousand years.
Dr. Ford: Three thousand years?
SCP-XXX-2: You heard me. Either way, do you have any kids or family, Dr. Ford?
Dr. Ford: Why would you want to know?
SCP-XXX-2: Just curious.
Dr. Ford: No, not really. Anyway, what does this have to do with my question?
SCP-XXX-2: Well, you see, sometime in 146B.C…
Dr. Ford: That is quite a long time ago
SCP-XXX-2: You wanted a damn answer. Don't interrupt. Sometime in the year 146 B.C. I was mall farmer in the Carthage area, when I decided one day to go out and fish, because there was a small drought. I was out there quite a while, until I had caught as much as I could carry home. So, Dr. Ford, you're a smart man. Could you tell me what was happening during that time frame?
Dr. Ford: You couldn't be referring to…
SCP-XXX-2: The Third Punic War. So, I was coming back from fishing, and to my shock the hut me and my family lived in was burned down, my family slaughtered, with Roman soldiers walking away from what you would call 'the scene of the crime'. One of them turned and looked at me, and I would never forget his face. I had tried to see if perhaps any of my family could be saved. One of my children was still alive, but there was nothing I could do. Back then, a laceration in the stomach couldn't be fixed, no matter what. As he died, I promised I would avenge his death, and I prayed to the gods that I would find the strength to do so
Dr. Ford: And it was after this that you killed SCP-XXX-1?
SCP-XXX-2: Yes. After I buried my family, I found that I had a sort of intuition of where he was at. It only took a few months to find him, and trust me when I say I took great pleasure in slowly ending his life. Afterwards, over the course of a few years, I settled down, and tentatively started another family. I always had a nagging feeling that he was not dead, somehow, but I always pushed it away. Then one day I was at a marketplace, and I saw him standing there, alive as he was before I supposedly killed him. I followed him to wherever he was staying and confronted him. Before I killed him again, I asked him how he was still alive, and he said he didn't know. Over time I started believing that something had happened. I was 68, and still alive and well, looking the same as I was when I was 20. So I followed my intuition. It wasn't until 150 years in when I had slayed the man who ended my families life 8 times that I accepted my fate.
Dr. Ford: And you still pursue him, even though what he did was over two thousand years ago?
SCP-XXX-2: I don't still pursue him because he killed my family. I still pursue him, because as long as he lives, I live, and I'm quite tired of life

INCIDENT LOG XXX-1

Shortly after Dr. Ford's interview with SCP-XXX-2, SCP-XXX-2 breached containment. Foundation assets were unable to locate it. Two days prior to SCP-XXX-2's breach of containment, SCP-XXX-2 broke into Site 19 where SCP-XXX-1 was located and terminated it, killing several Foundation personnel, including Dr. Ford, in the process. Surveillance recorded SCP-XXX-2 breaching into SCP-XXX-1's Containment Chamber and terminating it. SCP-XXX-1 immediately reincarnated into a nearby Foundation break room. SCP-XXX-2 used mounted C4 explosive to breach through the cement wall, which caused the termination of Dr. Ford and SCP-XXX-1. SCP-XXX-1 was recontained 8 weeks later, SCP-XXX-2's location is currently unknown

Item #: SCP-179-EN

Threat Level: Yellow [[color style = "color: yellow"]]●[[/span]]

Class:Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Due to it's nature, SCP-179-FR cannot be contained. If any individuals is found practicing SCP-179-FR, they must be watched by at least two (2) Foundation agents until the the individuals cease to practice SCP-XXX-FR, and no action is to be taken. Foundation agents are to not speak in the presence of players practicing SCP-179-FR.

Any individual or group of individuals showing signs of having practiced SCP-179-EN are to be interviewed as soon as possible to identify all participants. All individuals believed to have practiced SCP-179-FR are to be administered Class A amnestics. The individuals found practicing SCP-179-FR must also be monitored for a period of at least three months. This will also apply to any non-Foundation personnel found to have witnessed SCP-179-FR.

Any information regarding an event that occurred during the practice of SCP-179-FR collected from individuals who practiced it, and is not already listed in the Register of Suggestion Types that affect the practices of SCP-179- FR, must be properly recorded.

Any information about SCP-179-FR circulating on the Internet or in the media must be censored and deleted immediately upon discovered.

Description: SCP-179-FR is a practice commonly referred to as "Chased-Hidden". SCP-179-FR can only be practiced by children. The practice of SCP-179-FR can only be performed by a group of at least 6 capable individuals, then referred to as players.

From the perspective of an outside observer, players practicing SCP-179-FR do not appear to perform any particular actions during the game, but visible signs of fatigue, worry, amusement or fear may be observed afterwards. Muscular pain or discomfort can be observed, and some individuals claim to suffer from muscle soreness after practicing SCP-179-FR, in the same way as after normal physical activity.

When interviewed after practicing SCP-179-FR, most players claim that adults can not understand the interest or purpose of the game. Some, however, give information about how SCP-179-FR works from the point of view of a player.

The typical practice of SCP-179-EN is as follows:

  • the players are in a circle, either sitting or standing;
  • one of the players, at random, begins to recite a selection rhyme, and the player is chosen by the last syllable is then named "Game Guide";
  • players become silent and look away;

** Note: ** Beyond this stage, the process is based on a cross between the various testimonies gathered.

  • the players "gather" on the playing field, which always includes: a large European style rural house, probably identical to each part; a large lot, dotted with trees; a stone barn, which is not present at each party; a small wooden hut, located a few tens of meters from the house, at the

** Note: ** Because the description of the house is vague, as relying on contradictory testimony from children, no investigation could be conducted to determine whether or not the playing field exists.

  • one of the players is designated as "the Hunter" with the same selection rhyme as before, and must go to the small wooden hut while the other players are hiding;
  • Two minutes later, the Hunter can leave the wooden cabin: his goal is then to search for the other players and "neutralize" them, which includes, but is not limited to: putting them on the ground, making them to pronounce the sentence "I give up" [[footnote]] This rule is not present in all the variations of SCP-179-EN. [footnote], to hurt them, to make them lose consciousness, to kill them, to [DATA DELETED];

Once all the players have been eliminated, the game is over and the individuals are waking up.
** Notes: **
- Regardless of the elimination order of the players and how they are eliminated, they will "wake up" all at the end of the game and without any sequelae.
- There is currently no known way for players to win . In some variants of SCP-179-FR, observed in a small number of individuals, players can win under two conditions, both of which must be together:

  • at least one non-eliminated player has reached the hut;
  • The Game Guide is present in the cabin and no player returns after him.

So, if the barn is present, the straw that is there is systematically fire, and the flammable parts of the building are consumed entirely. Players can win if the Hunter is in the barn at that time and dies accordingly. This is the only way to eliminate the Hunter,

** Interviewed: ** Alexandre S█ █████, 14 years old.
** Interviewer: ** Dr. Aloices
** Foreword: ** It was explained to Alexander that a local newspaper wants to make a report on the "playground phenomenon" that is the game of "Chassés -Cachés ", and thus a journalist (played by Dr. Aloices) wants to question him about the progress of the game.

** Dr. Aloices ** Hello, Alexander, I'm Mrs. Aloices.. Your teacher had to talk to you about me. Do you still agree to answer some questions about "Hunted-Hidden"?

** Alexander: ** I'm fine, but you will not understand.
** Dr. Aloices: ** Why could not I understand? I'm sure if you explain me well-

** Alexander: ** Adults can not understand, that's all. You do not know how to have fun, and if I explained you would just say it's too dangerous or it's not a game. That's what my mother said, and the teacher said it was as well.

** Dr. Aloices: ** Explain to me anyway, please.

** Alexandre: ** If you want.

// The child then explains the process of SCP-179-EN, by not mentioning the victory conditions of joueurs.//
** Dr. Aloices: ** The Hunter can win rather quickly, then. But the players, can they win? What's their point ?

** Alexandre: ** You see? You do not understand. It's just a game, that's all. We have fun, playing it. But you do not understand, you always need a goal, something to win.

** Conclusion: ** Following this statement, the child refused to answer other questions Dr. Aloices, who decided to end the interview. The amnesia were later distributed to civilians who had been aware of this practice of SCP-179-EN.

** Addendum 179-EN-1: ** After crossing various testimonials from players who participated in SCP-179-EN, it seems that most of the field changes made during a practice are reflected in other practices. later, even if the players do not know each other; the only exceptions being that if the house, the hut or the barn are completely destroyed, they are rebuilt in the next part.

** Addendum 179-EN-2: ** It has been observed on many occasions that players remain at a minimum aware of their environment when practicing SCP-179-EN. It is, in particular, admitted that they hear in part the words spoken around them when they play, and that what they understand about them affects the conduct of SCP-179-EN (see Interview 179-FR-2). The different interpretations observed in SCP-179-EN practices are recorded in the Register of Suggestion Types that affect the practices of SCP-179-EN. It is accessible by the entire research team, as well as any staff member with Level 4 accreditation.

** Interviewer: ** Dr. Aloices
** Foreword: ** The boy was found by his mother in a square, practicing SCP-179-FR with 8 friends; the mother tried to stop them, helped later by a group of parents, but the players lost consciousness. The interview was conducted the next day, the children having regained consciousness a few hours later.

** Dr. Aloices: ** Hello, Thomas. Could you tell me what happened during your yesterday's "Chassés-Cachés" game, please?

** Thomas: ** Yes … We were playing quietly in the house. I was the Guide, and it was Yoan the Hunter. All of a sudden, I heard Mom. She was not playing with us, but it was as if her voice was ringing in the house. She looked panicky, so I panicked too … and I made a mistake in the hallway: the Hunter caught Camille. But, Mom spoke, again, she called me.

** Dr. Aloices: ** Your mother then went to find other adults, right?

** Thomas: ** Maybe … the game went on but, at one point, Marise and Loïc stopped moving. They were shaking, their faces became all blue. Marise whispered, "No, Papa, I'm alive, I promise, I'm not dead," and she collapsed on the floor at the same time as Loïc. Me, I heard my mother again, who said "It's dangerous?" But without talking to me.

** Dr. Aloices: ** Did you also feel bad at this time?

** Thomas: ** No, that was fine, but … the Hunter, finally Yoann, he found me at that moment. He was down the hall, but … it was not Yoann anymore. It was … scary.

** Dr. Aloices: ** What did he look like?

** Thomas: ** I do not know … he was all gray, and without a face. I quickly got into one of the rooms, as we were upstairs, and closed the door. My brother, he explained to me the game, he told me that if you lock yourself in a room, the Hunter must go and get someone else. But there, Yoann, he just … he just crossed the wall.

** Dr. Aloices: ** I see. And so, he eliminated you, right? How did he go about it?

** Thomas: ** My brother told me that in order to eliminate someone, the Hunter must stop a player on the ground, or abandon him. So I tried to shout that I did not want to play anymore, but he continued to move towards me … and he eliminated me.

** Dr. Aloices: ** How did he eliminate you?

** Thomas ** [DATA EXPUNGED]

** Dr. Aloices: ** I see. You also said it was your brother who explained the game to you, right?

** Thomas: ** Yes, it's a fashionable game in his college: he and his friends often play at recess or after the canteen.

** Dr. Aloices: ** And you know where he knows this game? A website, a magazine?

** Thomas: ** No, he said it was his girlfriend who made him known because his little brother plays in his school.

** Dr. Aloices: ** I see, thank you very much Thomas.

** ** Conclusion: ** Amnesics were later distributed to civilians who had been aware of this practice of SCP-179-EN. An investigation showed that Thomas's brother, his girlfriend, and his brother had all three received amnesia in interviews about SCP-179-EN, but had somehow or other Once again the game was learned. An evocation of the fatigue of a player. The player in question falls asleep immediately.
An evocation of the crying of a player. The rain begins to fall on the playground.
An evocation of the tremors of a player. An earthquake fires, appearing to greatly damage the structural integrity of the house and barn, and completely destroying the wooden hut.
An evocation of the sweat of a player. Water appears directly in the player's lungs, which drowns. Water continues to appear until the end of the game.

** Addendum 179-EN-3: ** Several player testimonials report the presence on the playing field of unidentified persons not belonging to the group of players. When crossing these testimonies with the people who found the children playing, it has been shown that it is the evocation of a call for help that triggers the appearance of these unknown individuals during the practice. of SCP-179-FR.

** Incident Report 179-EN-1: ** On 01/08 / 20██, a player who practiced SCP-179-EN in a playground did not "wake up" from the game. The other players having practiced with him asserted that during his run to escape the Hunter, the player in question would have come into contact with an unknown individual in a room of the house. Those who found the children practicing SCP-179-FR were interviewed, but unlike Addendum-179-EN-3, none of them claimed to have raised the call for help. More research is underway to find out if unidentified individuals are now present at every SCP-179-EN practice.
