Special Containment Procedures: A 10x10 meter fence is to be established around the perimeter of SCP-XXXX.
Individuals affected by SCP-XXXX-1 are to be taken to site- ██ for 24 hour medical care. Civilian families are to be told a the individual has been taken into quarantine and are not to be informed of the individual’s death until at least two weeks post-mortem.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a pond approximately 3x5 meters and 55 centimeters in depth. It was discovered in ████████, ██, USA on ██-██-████ following multiple reports of a mysterious condition affecting █ people inthe area.
SCP-XXXX’s anamolous effect will occur after a subject is submerged in the pond. The subject, upon exiting SCP-XXXX, will have contracted a progressive psychological disease that will henceforth be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1 appears to be a severe, progressive type of somatoparaphrenia. Starting approximately two hours after exiting the pond, a person afflicted with SCP-XXXX-1 will experience delusions that they are missing limbs. Over the course of the next 63 to 72 hours, these delusions increase in severity, with the subject insisting that more limbs and even parts of the torso and head are missing.
The following timetable marks the typical progression of SCP-XXXX-1
2 hours: Delusions begin. Subjects insist that their toes and anterior parts of their foot are missing and have been missing from birth. Subjects begin walking with an awkward gait.
6 hours: Subjects believe that both of their feet are missing. Most subjects refuse to walk at this point. Those still willing to walk are unable to answer when asked how they are able to do so despite believing they have no feet.
16 hours: Subjects believe that leg below the knee is entirely missing. Most subjects are confined to a wheelchair at this point.
26 hours: Somatoparaphrenia extends to the entirety of the lower body. No subject has been able to walk after the 26 hour mark. Attempts to aid subject in walking through physical therapy or walking aids are met with hostility. 38% of subjects experience fecal incontinence at this stage.
36 hours: Delusions extend to the lower abdomen and the hands. About one in four subjects refuse to eat, claiming that they have no stomach with which to digest the food. At this stage, some subjects express amazement at the medical technology required to keep them alive. Attempts to explain that subjects are not being assisted in such a way have been unsuccessful
45 hours: Delusions extend to chest and upper arms. Subjects show inability/unwillingness to move arms. Subjects may abruptly cease breathing and will asphyxiate if not provided with respiratory aid.
54 hours: Subjects no longer able to talk. The only muscles the subject retains control of is those in the eye and forehead. Communication difficult but not impossible.
63 hours: Total brain death.
No subject has survived 72 hours after initial contraction. Attempts to extend lifespan through life support or other means cease being effective at 66-72 hours.
