SCP-3XXX prior to modern containment procedures.

Item #: 3XXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3XXX is to be kept inside of a sealed container 10 meters below ground at Site-42. Interior temperature must be kept at 200 degrees Kelvin at all times. Remote checks of the integrity of SCP-3XXX are to be conducted once every 24 hours via remote drone. Experimentation with SCP-3XXX must be approved by a Level-3 researcher or higher.

Description: SCP-3XXX resembles an Alouette 1 satellite launched in 1962, originally designed by the Canadian government to study the ionosphere. No markings or identification can be found anywhere on the object. The interior of the capsule is filled with approximately 60 liters of a dark blue viscous substance, designated SCP-3XXX-A. SCP-3XXX is capable of levitation, hovering 2 meters above any surface area SCP-3XXX occupies. No power source has been observed on the interior or exterior of the object. When not immobilized in its containment unit SCP-3XXX will seek out any forms of advanced life, such as plants, animals and human beings. SCP-3XXX-A will then emerge from the capsule and become animate engulfing as much organic material in its immediate surroundings as possible. The physiology of the affected organisms will shift rapidly while engulfed in SCP-3XXX-A, this process can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 13 hours depending on the amount of matter SCP-3XXX-A is in contact with.

When completed these constructs are designated as instances of SCP-3XXX-B. Altered non-sentient lifeforms appear to be self supporting tube like structures, and are primarily used as vehicles for fabrications made from human tissue. SCP-3XXX-A will place human affected instances of SCP-3XXX-B inside of these structures where they will be launched passed the planet's atmosphere. The trajectory of these objects typically brings them within near orbit of the major planetary bodies within the solar system.

When a human is used in the creation of a SCP-3XXX-B instance, the subjects physical shape will be altered heavily, the resulting SCP-3XXX-B instance being worm-like in appearance. If SCP-3XXX-A is able to alter more than one human at a time they will be linked together becoming larger and much more durable than instances which use only one subject.

Once outside of Earth's orbit these instances will begin to relay a constant stream of electromagnetic signals back to SCP-3XXX. Analysis of the electromagnetic signals that these SCP-3XXX-B instances transmit has revealed that the information is mostly data detailing the atmospheric composition of the various planets in the solar system and the composition of various objects in space. What, if any intelligence, or self-awareness persist in human 3XXX-B instances is unknown.

Addendum 3XXX:01 Discovery:

Aftermath.jpg

The Village of Buta after being affected by SCP-3XXXX

SCP 3XXX was first discovered by foundation agents in Butambala, Uganda. local operatives responded to several reports of the disappearance of the population of an entire village on ██-██-████ . Afterwards Mobile Task Force Gamma-8 ("Celestial Whatevers") were deployed to the region. Upon arriving in Butambala Gamma-8 discovered over 90% of the vegetation for approximately 13km in all directions had vanished. Agents soon discovered a cater in the epicenter of the devastation which is presumed to be the initial impact point of SCP-3XXX. Several hours later SCP-3XXX itself was discovered. After agents were able to identify SCP-3XXX's effective "range" they began observations with remote controlled drones. after discovering the subjects vulnerability to extremely low temperatures SCP-3XXX was lured towards █████████ and was successfully contained. The Foundation suffered █ casualties. None of the missing villagers were recovered.
