Proposal For Weeping Man-Revision 1
This SCP is a humanoid, however it is not sapient. It looks like an adult Caucasian male in all aspects but the face, which is flat and has holes for the eyes/mouth. It is slightly more durable than a human, and ranged weapons are effective as it keeps you outside the area of effect. When threatened, it will either try to flee or will attack by grabbing the threat and eating all their memories, effectively leaving them (amnesiac/coma/dead)
Hunting/Effect
It hunts for prey in well populated environments, leading to many incidents within cities. When hunting, it assumes the posture of a man kneeling on the ground, and emits sounds akin to sobbing/crying. This attracts attention of people, who investigate. After feeding, it stands and covers it's face, seeming to be wiping tears, and leaves quickly to avoid observers
It feeds on positive memories. This is constantly active, meaning the creature can go without feeding for a while, if not isolated from contact with animals. The effect is stronger the closer you are. Within region, sentient creatures are paralysed by an overwhelming sadness, often leading to tears. The effectiveness is also impacted by memory content; those who have more happy memories take longer to become affected, as they have more to keep them happy.
Memories are gone permanently, and long term mental effects are based of proximity, time of exposure and demeanour.
Story
A new city block has been made. The foundation notices a high level of depression in this new area. Through eyewitness reports and such, an agent spots the tail end of an event, and calls for assistance. He tracks the creature to its best, within the nearby foresty area. They capture it, perform some tests, the regular thing. They continue to search the area for other anomalies. The search team is ambushed by another creature, and they kill it, which stops its effects. When performing DNA tests, it turns out that it matches a missing person from a few months ago. They cross reference their current specimen, and find another match. They test their theory, bringing in the (wife/friend) of the missing person. The creature displays recognition, and reaches out for them. The person is affected by the anomaly, and it cringes back. They are separated, creature is seen with liquid coming out the eye holes. The Foundation updates its files.
