SCP-4924 – The Anti-Depressant Dog
Class: Safe (Prior Keter Status)
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-4924 is now considered safe and poses no active or passive threat to the foundation or others, however, she is kept on a low risk, mostly safe-containing SCP site to avoid any risk of exposure to unintended persons.
She is to be transferred to other low-risk sites on a biannual basis to help her mental state remain healthy by meeting new people and experiencing new places.
She is to be fed many varieties of wet and dry canine food with added vitamin supplements designed for dogs to add additional nutrition to her diet and improve state of health.
Her excretion products are to be incinerated upon collection immediately.
She is to be kept with different members of the foundation on the site in which she is located during her time there to maintain mental health and reduce the risk of any problems arising.
Members in close contact are to be fully physically and mentally analysed and screened to check for issues and to document any effects caused by the being. Any anomalies that cannot be explained will result in the subject afflicted being terminated by a D-class member and incinerated, as a past incidents shown the murderer (who was a guard on duty) suffered serious depression afterwards and committed suicide. Although negative affects of this entity are easily controlled and not often an occurrence when sufficient containment procedures are met, thus the practice of have the being with foundation members, as she often proves to be a pleasant and even beneficial presence among them.
She should be provided with a water bowl, a comfortable basket or floor mat to sleep on, and some chew toys and similar items.
She is to be kept in contained spaces such as a room at all times or on a lead when in open areas, as she has been observed running 5 times faster than the fastest animal ever recorded (being the cheetah) and being hard to catch or contain, hence the prior Keter status, this was repealed when during an escape of SCP-4924 a foundation member came across SCP-4924 and showed affection and care towards the being, (rather than brute force and malice), in which she sat and was eager for more affection, complying with commands in anticipation of being rewarded via stroking and treats.
If SCP-4924 is to break containment, a trusted foundation member, preferably a member interested in dogs, should be escorted to the last known position of SCP-4924 until she is seen, then have the member invite her over and provide affection and empathy, in which she will sit and comply with commands. Do not use hostile force or intent to contain the being, as this will probably cause agonising depression for the person in question and will probably lead to them committing suicide. The only instance in which calm, yet forceful and assertive commands and leadership has worked with SCP-4924 is with SCP-, in which they share a strong bond and rapport.
She is to be kept away from any male dog able to mate with her when she is in mating season, often referred to as ‘on heat’ as a past incident left SCP-4924-1, SCP-4924-2, SCP-4924-3, SCP-4924-4, SCP-4924-5 and SCP-4924-6 dead shortly after birth, causing great depression for SCP-4924, and for the person looking after her and shorty causing suicide of the person in question (It appears only to affect the person minding her). Attempts to spay the being has resulted in serious depression and subsequent suicide of the people involved in the procedure, following fast regeneration of her reproductive organs and body.
Description:
SCP-4924 appears to have the form of a female Jack Russell Terrier mixed with a Shetland Terrier breed of dog. Her colour is mostly brown with a dark shade of brown on her back and sides of her body and a light shade of brown on her under areas and head with white patches on her paws and underbelly as well. She has brown shiny eyes and a healthy jawline and whiskers on her elongated snout. She is good natured and friendly to everyone she has met. She loves running, receiving affection and often rolls over with her tail wagging in anticipation of being stroked. She loves chasing after balls as well as rats and other rodents.
She was discovered by foundation personnel when a dog breeder in the United Kingdom reported that all his family committed suicide for no apparent reason, the police detained him on the grounds of mass murder. But the evidence ruled this out and proved his story. It appears to have occurred because the breeder’s family didn’t like dogs and this attitude caused SCP-4924’s affects to make them all seriously depressed and then commit suicide. After gathering additional information from the breeder, he was terminated, incinerated and ashes scattered at sea. The police were led to believe that he went missing and the file has been closed since, with the authorities assuming he is either missing or dead. However, the person who terminated the breeder later committed suicide the next day.
She seems to have the ability to affect people’s mental health via is what is referred to as telepathy in works of fiction. She has the property of never aging, but still needs the normal essentials any other dog would need to survive. The person who minds her often benefits from feeling calmer, at ease with the world and able to perform duties with higher productivity and resourcefulness, as well as increased happiness and life satisfaction. She has also been observed to cure any mental ailment a person may have, such as depression, trauma or amnesia. However, SCP-4924 does not affect conditions such as Autism Spectrum Condition or Down syndrome. She cannot cure or repair physical ailments except her own, in which seems to be related to her never-aging properties.
Attempts to analyse her DNA has resulted in the person conducting the analysis coming down with serious depression and committing suicide. Automated equipment has been used to attempt analyse her DNA, but the data is immediately deleted when analysis begins, and the equipment used short-circuits and becomes permanently broken.
She prefers being solitary from other animals but does enjoy meeting other dogs, therefore it has been suggested that SCP-4924 should be introduced to SCP- and SCP-, although this request has been denied, on the grounds that the outcome is too uncertain and could worsen matters.
If her containment procedures are not sufficiently met, then she can suffer from serious depression, which seems to affect people who are caring for her in the same way, therefore, it is important to ensure her mental state is maintained and she remains calm, balanced and stable.
