Exaggerated Gravitational Phenomenon
rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Objects Class: Safe Euclid (See Incident Log 28/06/14)

Special Containment Procedures: A perimeter of at least 15 kilometers must be established around SCP-XXXX and is to be under the guise of a private excavation ground. No more than 10 armed guards are to patrol SCP-XXXX with the primary objective of redirecting nearby civilian populations in order to avoid discovery. Absolutely no retrieval attempts are to be made for objects/persons lost to SCP-XXXX and are assumed to be MIA/KIA.

Photograph found inside the house adjacent to SCP-XXXX

Description: Located east of Prescott Valley, AZ, SCP-XXXX is a gravitational anomaly that manifests within a chasm spanning approximately 5 kilometers in width and 4.8 kilometers in length and 121 meters in depth. SCP-XXXX is surrounded by a large canyon that obstructs the gorge from view. SCP-XXXX produces a pull of 874.23 m/s², or 90 Gs, proving deadly to any living organism that enters its sphere of influence as it is promptly crushed by the downward force. All contact made with the space over the ledge results in immediate descent into the sunken landmass. The effects of SCP-XXXX's gravitational force do not seem to affect the environment around it as the flora contained within SCP-XXXX remain perfectly intact.

Approximately 30 meters from SCP-XXXX is an abandoned house that was most likely inhabited by two men who discovered SCP-XXXX and possesses no anomalous properties apart from its proximity to SCP-XXXX. During inspection of the structure, an image of the previous owners posing in front of the house was found. The men in the picture have never been identified nor has the date the photograph was taken ever been determined.

Land within SCP-XXXX

Addendum Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered by the Foundation in 1943 during a search by local police attempting to locate a missing person's suspect. After two days the search party had stumbled upon a shack tucked behind a canyon leading to a cliff with an abnormally flat incline. The Foundation had caught word of the group's discovery after the interception of a radio transmission confirming the existence of an anomalous land formation. Shortly upon arrival, class A amnestics were applied to all members of the search team. Subsequently, a 5-kilometer lockdown was established and the Foundation set up a base of operations designed to study and hide SCP-XXXX.

Addendum #1: So far there have only been three (3) documented casualties to SCP-XXXX. The one and only accidental instance resulted in Junior Researcher, Richard [DATA EXPUNGED], tripping too close to the edge and falling to his death. No attempts have been made to retrieve Dr. [DATA EXPUNGED]'s body as the anomaly's gravity proves impossible to escape by any known means. (See Incident Report 28/06/14)

Addendum #2: No attempt to discover a way to enter and exit SCP-XXXX safely is to be made, as containment should be the task force's number one priority. The two experiments involving D Class subjects led to zero advancements in understanding SCP-XXXX, causing the Foundation's Ethics Committee to request 05 bar all use of D Class personnel.

We don't have the resources for something as needless as this. I asked you to make sure the civilian population does not catch wind of this, there's probably nothing down there anyway. I'm rejecting any requests to send D Class personnel or MTF teams into the anomaly until further notice. - 05-█
