Special Containment Procedures: all 8 SCP-XXXX instances are to be intercepted on ██/██/████ and subsequently redirected as outlined in AVALON RED Mission Parameters. SCP-XXXX instances are to be shielded within a metal casing equipped with a high gain antenna, tracking computer, and a radioisotope thermoelectric generator. Tracking data is to be maintained for as long as the RTG battery allows (~35 years), with jurisdiction of research belonging to Site-162.

Early warning systems for SCP-XXXX instances are not possible. Should any others be identified, AVALON RED Procedures are to be reenacted, along with its contingency plans.

Object Description: SCP-XXXX designates a series of 8 astronomical objects with interstellar origins. Original trajectories overlapped with Earth's, and would have resulted in the objects entering the Earth's atmosphere on ██/██/████. This was avoided, as The Foundation launched 8 deep space probes in the spring of ████ which successfully intercepted and redirected SCP-XXXX instances back out of the solar system.

Each SCP-XXXX instance is approximately half a meter long, dark red in coloration, and crystalline in shape (trigonal structure similar to that of quartz). To the extent that SCP-XXXX's research team can be certain, SCP-XXXX instances are not artificial in any way, as the objects do not possess any means of propulsion, guidance, or sensors. In fact, SCP-XXXX is composed of two relatively simple layers; a thin red outer surface, and an internal layer consisting of 3kg of SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-XXXX-1 is an exotic organic compound (exact chemical makeup unknown) which grows to form a sponge-like biomass. It is nontoxic, not poisonous, and does not appear to react with any other chemical compounds. SCP-XXXX-1 grows at a rate proportional to its size (larger biomasses expand quicker).

Overwatch: We intercepted an emergency call from outside Burbank. Witnesses say an object shot out of the sky and struck a silver Toyota. High-impact, blew out windows about a mile away.

R10-3: Shit, that's what that was? I thought someone was setting off a firework.

R10-1: And we're about 10 minutes out, the whole city probably heard it.

Overwatch: Expect a crowd. Emergency vehicles are already on their way.

R10-2: Do we have any idea what this "object" is?

Overwatch: Most likely a meteorite, or if we're unlucky, some kind of terrorist attack.

R10-1: It's certainly high-profile.

Overwatch: Yes, but this is still a precautionary response. Intervene at your discretion.

R10-1: Copy that, we'll keep you notified.

Both occupants of the silver Toyota were killed upon impact, emergency crews are dealing with them right now. our emergency caller neglected to mention a yellow foam-like substance which has been splattered across the entire street and a few adjacent buildings. Overwatch: Do you have visual on the object that struck the vehicle?

R10-2: EMTs were pulling it from the wreck when we pulled up. Object appears to be a small red capsule, now split across the side. The inside is full of that yellow stuff.

Overwatch: Copy that, Rho-10, please stand by…(Pause.) Rho-10 we're going to advise you secure the capsule and prep it for transport, then take over cleanup operations.

R10-3: What about the crowd?

Overwatch: They just saw a meteorite kill two people. If they ask about the foam, tell them its melted cushioning from the car.

R10-1: Copy that, Overwatch. Team, be careful around that yellow shit, we don't know what it is yet.
