Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Foundation Web Crawler SODOM2 is to actively patrol the World Wide Web for media affected by SCP-XXXX. Upon detection of affected media, a Foundation Bot (REPLICA5) is to wipe said media, and all discussion of said media, from the internet, replacing affected media with un-affected copies stored on Foundation backup servers. All persons who view affected media are to be tracked down and administered Class A amnestics by MTF Theta-47 (“Reforgetters").
SCP-XXXX is currently uncontained. Pataphysics Task Force Alpha-4 ("Red Retcon Rangers") is to track SCP-XXXX through narrative space and research possible methods of containment.
Following Incident XXXX-34, all personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX must score 89% or higher on Foundation loyalty tests. Agents who interact with SCP-XXXX in narrative space are to be de-briefed following their interaction and monitored for 2 weeks for possible disloyalty following said interaction. Any personnel interacting with SCP-XXXX in narrative space must be heterosexual, asexual, in a committed monogamous relationship, or otherwise actively avoiding a romantic relationship with a person of the same gender.
PoI-XXXX-1 is to be detained on sight.
Description: SCP-XXXX is the collective designation given to two Pataphysical entities, SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2, that manifest exclusively within digital media. SCP-XXXX interferes with media on a per-domain basis; a television series altered by SCP-XXXX on a particular streaming service will not be affected on any other site on which it is held.
The primary goal of SCP-XXXX is to increase the prevalence and importance of homosexual relationships and the LGBT community within the media it affects. To this end, SCP-XXXX-1 manifests as a woman and enters into relationships with other female characters, and SCP-XXXX-2 does the same as a man with male characters. Both entities vary their age, appearance, personality, and in-media backstory wildly from story to story, and can interact with media both jointly and independently. Both entities also increase the prevalence and number of transgender characters in the media they affect, either by rewriting the character's backstory to have them transition into their canonical gender from a prior gender, or by introducing new story lines about characters transitioning from their canonical gender to a new one.
In works with pre-existing homosexual relationships, SCP-XXXX will drastically increase the prominence and narrative significance of said relationships, often inserting itself into said relationships as a third party. SCP-XXXX will also create new relationships in media it alters, regardless of whether or not the media in question has homosexual relationships in it already. SCP-XXXX will also interact with heterosexual relationships, often by re-writing them to be "open" or poly-amorous and seducing one or both members of the relationship. For a partial list of media affected by SCP-XXXX, please see Addendum XXXX-1
SCP-XXXX follows highly specific guidelines when entering into romantic relationships within media. To date, no relationship generated by SCP-XXXX has:
- Been incestuous
- Existed between an adult and a minor.
- Violated the consent of previously existing romantic relationships.
- Violated its own consent.
- Terminated in the mutual separation of all of its members.
- Terminated following the deaths of one or more of its members.
To fulfill these parameters, SCP-XXXX will often edit the entire canons of affected media. SCP-XXXX tends to target media created by people who have expressed anti-LGBT views, or media that contains homosexual relationships that violated one or more of the above taboos.
Individuals who view media affected by SCP-XXXX will demonstrate marked increases in support for and acceptance of the LGBT community, with 27% of those who view affected media identifying as homosexual, bi/pansexual, or transgender within 6 months of viewing. These effects persist even after extensive amnestic treatment wipes all memory of affected media from the minds of affected individuals. LGBT people do not experience these effects upon viewing media altered by SCP-XXXX.
Addendum XXXX-1: List of media altered by SCP-XXXX
| Title of work | Genre of work | Location of work on World Wide Web | Affecting entities | Summary of Changes | Additional Notes |
| Kill La Kill | Sci-fi Action Anime | Crunchyroll | SCP-XXXX-1 | SCP-XXXX-1 first inserts itself into Kill La Kill in the first episode, where she takes the form of Hakaru Hibayashi, a fifth member of series antagonist Satsuki Kiryuin's elite four. Hibayashi is engaged in a clandestine polyamorous relationship with both Kiryuin and fellow elite four member Nonon Jakuzure, and engages in multiple battles with series protagonist Ryuko Matoi at the behest of Kiryuin. The rest of Kill La Kill's plot goes largely unaltered, save for the ending, which depicts a wedding between Matoi and Mako Makeshuro, who were heavily implied to be in a romantic relationship by the end of the show, attended by Hibayashi, her partners, and the rest of the surviving cast. | This was one of the first SCP-XXXX manifestations observed by the Foundation in real time, and offered important insights into how SCP-XXXX targets media it alters. Only the Crunchyroll edition of Kill La Kill was affected; versions of the show on other websites, as well as physical copies, went unaltered. |
| Bioshock | First Person Shooter Video Game | Steam | SCP-XXXX-2 | SCP-XXXX-2 is introduced in the Medical Pavilion, where it takes the form of a friendly Non-Player Character named Jim Crushaw. Crushaw accompanies the player character throughout the entire game, assisting in combat and commenting on the events of the game as they occur. Oddly, Crushaw cannot be killed in combat; enemy attacks do no lasting damage to him. In cutscenes, Crushaw repeatedly interacts with various other NPCs via dialogue, but these interactions do little to alter the game's plot. Crushaw's opinion of the player character seems to be tied to the game's karma system; sparing the Little Sisters will earn Crushaw's respect, while harvesting them will earn his disdain. This feature manifests most prominently at the end of the game; if the player finishes the game with good karma, Crushaw will accompany the player to the surface, and an end game cutscene will depict the player character and Crushaw marrying each other and adopting the surviving Little Sisters as their children. If the player finishes the game with bad karma, Crushaw will kill the player character in a cutscene following the defeat of the final boss. | Affected copies of Bioshock were infected by SCP-XXXX-2 via an update downloaded from Steam's servers. This has led some to theorize that SCP-XXXX may be a form of anomalous computer virus in addition to a pataphysical entity. |
| Homestuck | Multi-Media fantasy webcomic | Homestuck.com | SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2 | SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 insert themselves into Homestuck's narrative in Act 1, where they take the form of Lena and Lars Prokot, twin siblings who form the fifth and sixth members of the "Beta" kids, the protagonists of Homestuck's first 4 acts. The two proceed to drastically alter the entirety of Homestuck's narrative, removing roughly half the cast from existence and completely rewriting the character arcs of the remaining characters. The comic ends with the two entities forming a pair of wide-spanning polyamorous relationships with nearly every named character, winning Sburb, and settling down on a newly created version of Earth where they and their romantic partners rule as the benevolent Gods of the reborn human and troll races. | SCP-XXXX affected the Homestuck.com version of Homestuck within 15 minutes of its creation,1 causing one of the largest SCP-XXXX exposure incidents to date; individuals became affected by SCP-XXXX simply by looking at Homestuck.com's home page. |
| SCP-682 | SCP item entry | Foundation databases | SCP-XXXX-2 | A lengthy addendum is added to SCP-682's description detailing its seduction by Senior Researcher Stone Danger2. The addendum ends with Danger freeing 682 from containment and riding on its back into the wilderness surrounding the site it was contained in. | SCP-XXXX's ability to alter Foundation records poses a serious threat to both security and record integrity. Object class upgraded to Keter following this incident.3 |
