SCP-XXXX adorns the front of The Imperial State Crown

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained and protected, under normal British Law, in the Jewel House of the Waterloo Block of Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London. 2 Level 3 agents are to maintain positions in Tower of London staff in order to report any possible rogue events involving SCP-XXXX.

During the Coronation of a New English Monarch, or during a State Opening of Parliment, when SCP-XXXX is required to be transported from the containment area, MTF-Gamma 5 (Red Herrings) is to go undercover within the City of London Police Force, and establish a perimeter around the event using Scranton Reality Anchors (SRA). The perimeter is to have a radius no less than 500 meters around the event. SRAs are to remain powered down unless a "Detection Event" is to occur.

In the case of a "Detection Event", the perimeter of SRAs are to be immediately powered up, and remain operational until further notice. Once the "Detection Event" has concluded, MTF Gamma-5 Commander is to enact the "Sound of Silence" Protocol.

Before the "Sound of Silence" Protocol has started, all Foundation personnel within 40km of The Palace of Westminster are to evacuate the area immediately.

Once the "Sound of Silence" Protocol has concluded, MTF-Gamma 5 is to return to power down and retrieve all SRAs, and support crews will be dispatched to London for any aide and reconstruction.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a large, irregular cabochon red spinel weighing 170 carats (34 g) set in the cross pattée above the Cullinan II at the front of the Imperial State Crown of England, more commonly referred to as "The Black Prince's Ruby". While SCP-XXXX is not being handled, or The Imperial State Crown is not being worn, SCP-XXXX has no discernible anomalous porperties, and simply appears to be an unusually large spinel.

While the spinel is being handled (or the crown is being worn), the handler (hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-1) is able to detect any anomalous object within a seemingly unrestricted range (tests have shown that the range is dependent on whichever subject currently is SCP-XXXX-1. Current largest observed range has been roughly 5km). As to how SCP-XXXX-1 can discern the difference of an anomalous object between a similar, non-anomalous object from several kilometers away is unknown. SCP-XXXX-1 is also able to detect the object in question with remarkable accuracy, with the lowest margin of error observed being only 1 meter. Testing has shown that both range and accuracy of detection can be improved through repeated handling of SCP-XXXX.

Once another anomalous object has been detected by SCP-XXXX-1, all anomalous properties of the object are inhibited, and any properties do not return to it until either it is moved from out of range of SCP-XXXX-1, or SCP-XXXX stops being handled.
