The Cat Bush

Object #: SCP 4156

Object class: safe euclid

Special Containment Procedures: No special procedures are to be carried out on SCP 4156 except for monthly trimming and watering. SCP 4156 is to be contained in a 5x4x3 meter holding cell equipped with sunlight lamps. Any and all instances of SCP 4156-1 are to be transported to cell 058 upon emerging from SCP 4156. SCP 4156 is to be trimmed once a month, to maintain a constant size of 3x2x2 meters.

Nobody is to enter SCP 4156's chamber except for the monthly trimming/watering crews and test subjects. Trimmimg/watering crews are to be outfitted with hazmat suits amd oxygen tanks as to not accidentally come into contact with SCP 4156-2. The sunlight lamps are to remain on at all times. Anyone caught attempting to shut off the lamps will be immediately detained and questioned.

Description: SCP 4156 is a hedge, 3 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 2 meters tall. Attempts to identify the exact species have been unsuccessful. As of right now the species of SCP 4156 is unknown, but is closly resembles that of the species [REDACTED]. SCP 4156 looks like a normal hedge on the outside, but on the inside, SCP 4156 appears to have what resembles a complete circulatory system, nervous system, uterus, birth canal, and even a skeletal system.

SCP 4156 was found in front of a home in [Redacted] Texas. The owners of the home complained to authorities that once every few days, a cat-like creature would emerge from their hedge. Attempts were made to cut down SCP 4156, but they all failed. Eventually, SCP 4156 was dug from the ground and re-planted inside chamber 057 in site ███.

The cat-like creatures that emerge from SCP 4156 resemble normal domesticated cats, except that they lack tails. Genetic experimentation revealed that all of the creatures,(now referred to as SCP 4156-1A, 1B, etc.) are genetically identical. Their genetic make-up does not match any known species of cat, or any other organism. Instances of SCP 4156-1 emerge from SCP 4156 at random ranging from once every 3 days to once every 7 months.

The working theory is that the uterus inside of SCP 4156 grows SCP 4156-1, which is then "born" and later emerges. It is unknown how or why this happens. Instances of SCP 4156-1 do not appear to age, and commonly show affection towards staff members. SCP 4156-1 behaves as any normal house cat would. The instances of SCP 4156-1 do not act aggressively or show hostility against one another, maybe do to the fact that they are identical.

SCP 4156 sometimes grows some sort of fungus on it's leaves. The fungus, (now referred to as SCP 4156-2) when inhaled, ingested, or touched, will cause [DATA EXPUNGED] within 3 to 5 hours after exposure. All attempts to identify SCP 4156-2's species have failed, as the genetic make-up, like SCP 4156-1, is completely unique.

TEST LOGS

Test 1
Subject D4156A is escorted into SCP 4156's chamber.
Subject is told to touch the leaves of SCP 4156.
Subject experienced no symptoms.

Test 2

Subject D4156B is escorted into SCP 4156's chamber.
Subject is told to touch SCP 4156-2.
Subject experienced no symptoms until 2 hours after exposure, when subject D4156B started complaining of chest pains. About 1 hour later the subject was in a noticable amount of pain.
Subject was grasping his chest and groaning, asking for help.
About 3 minutes later, subject D4156B started screaming and convulsing, then violently [DATA EXPUNGED].
Everyone else in the room was immediately taken to the ICU unit of site ███ to be checked for SCP 4156-2.
Fungus spores were discovered when the clean-up and removal of D4156B's body (what was left of it at least) was conducted.
They are most likely SCP 4156-2.
SCP 4156 was changed from safe to euclid after this.

Test 3
Subject D4156C (Subject D4156C was diagnosed with depression and constantly has suicidal thoughts) was escorted to cell 058.
Subject was told to interact with SCP 4156-1V.
As soon as the subject approached, SCP 4156-1V immediately meowed and rolled over, exposing it's belly to D4156C.
Subject started giving SCP 4156-1V a belly rub.
Subject smiled for the first time in months.
Later analysis of D4156C's brain activity showed an increase in dopamine.
Later tests were carried out on D4156C.
Subject no longer has suicidal thoughts and is happier than ever.
This may suggest that SCP 4156-1 has the ability to cure depression in humans.
More tests on this matter will be conducted in the future.
