Item #: SCP - XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP - XXXX-1 is to be contained in the case it was brought in with, SCP - XXXX-2. This case is to be kept in a freezer set to -33 degrees Celsius and maintained in this temperature while not in testing or cleaning. Once every 3 weeks the object is to be removed from its case and cleaned thoroughly in a vat of Mercury in room temperature.
Failing to follow this procedure causes the object to start emitting a simple distress signal on all known frequencies in varying languages, Spoken, Dead and Unknown. Although no entity has yet to follow up on these signals to the Foundation's knowledge, it has been decided unanimously by the O5 Council that the procedure is to be followed, and researchers failing to follow properly for any reason are to be moved to a different site, and their memory of SCP-XXXX is to be erased using amnestics.
Description: SCP - XXXX-1 looks like a normal set of reading glasses, with the dimensions of 15cm from the edge of one lens to the other, with each lens not surpassing 6cm in length and 3.5cm in height, and is 0.4cm thick. Each temple is 16cm long.
The object's metal frame is made from Stainless Steel, colored black. The left lens is made from ordinary glass, and the other is made from a material that cannot be identified by any means, though it appears normal.
Whenever someone wears the object, they lose sight with their left eye. The right eye, however, sees all entities and objects in their field of vision to be made of words in an unknown language. Though this language seems to be impossible to translate, as every attempt at making reason of it appears to change the rules that make up this unknown language, it can be deduced that each object or entity that is looked at with the object has only one name.
SCP - XXXX-2 is a Mercury case that 17cm long, 6cm wide and 3cm tall. The case itself is Solid, despite the temperature around it. No other anomalous properties have been found.
Addendum-XXXX-A: Recovery Report
The Foundation was alerted to the existence of SCP - XXXX by an individual within the Eastern Sect of The Church of the Broken God, on 17/6/20██, 9:41 PM, claiming that "These damned glasses will break us all apart. Please, for the love of the Broken One, help us". Three agents were dispatched to the individual's location, ███████, finding a small building that was used as a church by the Eastern Sect. Upon entry, the agents found 12 dead bodies, cut to pieces. The only body not cut was a male that appeared to be in his mid-30s. The man was wearing SCP - XXXX-1, and his face displayed horror. The agents immediately called for backup, and after scanning of the building and the surrounding area, it was determined that the glasses, deemed SCP - XXXX-1, on the uncut man's head are indeed the anomaly. On a table in the same room was a case, deemed SCP - XXXX-2, which one of the agents tested at the site and discovered that it was made from solid Mercury, despite the room being in normal temperatures. A vat of normal mercury was also found in an adjacent room, as well as a small freezer set to -33 degrees Celsius. SCP -XXXX was then brought to Site-██ for testing and containment.
Addendum-XXXX-B: Tests
Test XXXX-a1:
Test XXXX-a3:
Procedure: D-class subject is brought before various Safe, non-dangerous SCPs and was told to put on SCP - XXXX-1 and tell the Doctors overseeing the test what it sees.
Results:
SCP-038 - The D-class appears overwhelmed, saying "Never before have I seen so many", but refused to elaborate.
SCP-131 - The D-class appears to smile at SCP-131-A and SCP-131-B, telling the doctors "these words feel safe. They want to keep me safe"
SCP-500 - The D-class says to the doctors "Its name is [ DATA EXPUNGED ]". One of the doctors, who suffered from the common cold at the time, healed almost immediately, and the D-class later confirmed that one of his scars appears to have healed after witnessing SCP-500's name. However, the healed doctor lost her sense of smell for 3 months after the test. It has been decided that SCPs that have anomalous effects which change the well being of the person(s) using them will not be tested on until further notice.
SCP-1525 - The D-class appears to look uncertain whilst observing SCP-1525. He tells the doctors "This name makes me very… uncomfortable, as if my clothes don't really fit me", as well as tugging at the collar of his shirt.
