Item #: SCP-4XXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-4XXX is currently fixed to the wall of Small Testing Room at Site-19. When not undergoing testing, SCP-4XXX is to have its chalk removed and the test room is to be evacuated of desks and chairs so as not to give any impression of a classroom environment. The door must be locked and guarded at all times, with access restricted to testing purposes only. Tests involving SCP-4XXX and its anomalous properties must be authorised by a member of the O5 council and a full report detailing the nature of the test and its purposes should be submitted to the site director prior to the test. During the test, the entrance to the test room must be sealed until the conclusion of the experiment.

Description:

SCP-4XXX is a wall-mounted chalk board measuring 304cm x 122cm and dark green in colour. The object features a frame and chalk-holder constructed of aged oak wood, both of which are in remarkably pristine condition compared to the surface of the board.
Initially SCP-4XXX appears non-anomalous, however the object has the ability to trigger disruptive events at random when certain conditions are met:

  • SCP-4XXX is being used to give a lecture, brief or presentation.
  • There are at least two (2) persons, seated, as the 'students' of the lecture.
  • Illustrations and writings made upon SCP-4XXX are in white chalk.

In 100% of tests satisfying these conditions, a random event has been triggered by SCP-4XXX. Therefore these have been established as the minimum requirements for triggering an anomalous event. The severity of an event seems to be directly proportional to both the complexity of the subject of the lecture and the number of 'students' seated in the room at the time. (See Test Log)
