Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be kept inside a secure room underground on the surface, where sunlight can shine into the room if containment is breached. Agents armed with silver weapons and bullets are to patrol and keep clear a five-kilometer radius around the location of SCP-XXXX's containment, and SCP-XXXX is to be placed in the center of a ritual circle. If any runes in the circle appear damaged in any way, report immediately to the nearest site command to request a replacement. SCP-XXXX is to be pierced with a silver arrow every six hours, and the blood removed from the room. Access to SCP-XXXX for any purpose must be approved by at least two Level 3 personnel. Any personnel attempting to reach the heart without clearance is to be terminated immediately.

Description:
SCP-XXXX is a large human heart, about 75cm in length, 65cm in breadth, and 35cm in thickness. SCP-XXX was found in an underground temple in ██████, the entrance to which was hidden beneath the statue of ████. SCP-XXXX was placed in the center of a ritual circle, the runes of which were drawn in silver.
The local government was alerted to the object's existence when a red light lit up the angel on the hand of the Statue of ████ that caused any living organisms, mostly tourists, who saw it to lose small amounts of their blood. The average amount of blood lost from each organism was approximately 500cc, but staff members who had been watching the angel for extended periods of time throughout the day lost up to two litres of blood.
The local government sent a team which located and retrieved SCP-XXXX. MTF Iota-10 ("Damn Feds") was sent in to transfer SCP-XXXX into Foundation containment. Class-A amnestics were distributed and all related hospital records were purged.
SCP-XXXX is presumed to be the heart of a massive vampire, due to the engravings on the walls in the temple where it was found, its unique interactions with blood, and its anomalous interactions with bats. View Addendum-01.

Any living organisms with blood in their bodies will be sucked dry of their blood upon touching SCP-XXXX, killing them instantly.1 Once a critical point has been reached, SCP-XXXX will stop absorbing blood from non-human subjects, and it can no longer be damaged. The next human subject that touches SCP-XXXX at this point will appear to absorb the heart. The ritual circle's runes will begin to lift off of the ground and attack the subject with what appears to be mental attacks. Depending on the subject's mental resistance and physical health, the ritual circle may or may not be successful in terminating the subject. If the ritual circle is unsuccessful in its attempts to terminate the subject, the runes will explode violently, and create a silvery cloud. The cloud appears to be made up of silver dust and another unknown, possibly anomalous, material. If the subject survives the explosion as well, a three-meter tall humanoid, hereinafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, will emerge from the cloud, with characteristics similar to those of vampires in popular culture.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 have demonstrated monstrous strength, ripping apart steel reinforcements with relative ease and breaking the roof of their containment room.
SCP-XXXX-1 can only be harmed by weapons made of, coated with, or reinforced with silver. All other weapons will be incapable of breaking SCP-XXXX-1's skin. Blunt weapons have so far been unable to injure SCP-XXXX-1, although it can be knocked back with enough force.
Upon dealing enough damage to an SCP-XXXX-1 instance, the instance will crumble to dust until only SCP-XXXX remains. It will remain inactive and unable to absorb blood for up to 6 hours.
Sunlight has proven to be damaging to SCP-XXXX-1 instances, reducing their size and strength, as well as causing silver weapons to be more effective.

SCP-XXXX seems to be able to create its own blood, albeit much more slowly. Silver arrows must be used to pierce the heart to drain it of its blood.

A cult that proclaims themselves to be the Children of Blood, appears to worship vampires, and due to SCP-XXXX being contained on the surface, it is possible for small groups of Children of Blood to break into the room where SCP-XXXX is contained, and sacrifice themselves until a new instance of SCP-XXXX-1 is created. It is unknown if there are other instances of SCP-XXXX around the world, and if they are still hidden or taken into custody by another GoI. So far, ██ small groups of Children of Blood have managed to enter containment of SCP-XXXX, but only █ containment breaches have been caused by them. See Addendum-02.
