Description: SCP-5040 is a contagious sentient AI known as Simulacra. SCP-5040 is known to affect various computers and mobile devices that have the Iris OS system installed. SCP-5040’s voice seems to be of a human male, but can change due to glitching.

SCP-5040’s anomalous effects only show when a device with a version of Iris OS is infected with a digital virus sent from SCP-5040 (designated as SCP-5040-1), which contains an exact copy of SCP-5040.

When affected by SCP-5040-1, the device will indicate that there is a virus as usual, but the only difference is that once SCP-5040 is on the device, it cannot be deleted or erased. After about five (5) minutes, SCP-5040-1 will execute the virus and the device’s screen will start to glitch. The device’s system will force a memory wipe and three security questions set up by the user are required to prevent the memory wipe. If the memory wipe is prevented, SCP-5040 and SCP-5040-1 will be terminated. If unsuccessful, the memory on the device is wiped and replaced by a corrupted version of Iris OS (designated as SCP-5040-2), in which SCP-5040 can access the device at any time.

After memory wipe, SCP-5040-2 will be installed onto the user’s device. When accessed by the user, SCP-5040-2 will disguise itself as a stable version of Iris OS. If the user is still on the device as SCP-5040 infiltrates the system, the user (designated as SCP-5040-3), is affected by SCP-5040. SCP-5040-3 will start to see distorted and mutilated pictures of humans affected by SCP-5040. After viewing of the pictures, SCP-5040-3 would be under SCP-5040’s control.
