Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a small, modified glass terrarium set up with a watering system and a one-way vent that provides fresh air. The watering system is switched on twice a day for three minutes. The terrarium contains 5cm of soil. Other than openings to allow water and air, the terrarium must be sealed shut at all times. A low-wattage greenhouse light is required to run above the terrarium during daylight hours. Handling is strictly prohibited, unless in a controlled testing environment.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an unidentified species of grass, similar in appearance to Imperata cylindrica, that grows to a height of 40-50cm. The grass, when fully grown, has been observed to produce a 'silver sheen' visible on the edges of individual blades, which correspond with its ability to produce severe lacerations on any person or animal that walks through a patch of the object. Laboratory testing has found that the silver sheen is due to a metal alloy containing zinc, ███, ████, and other unknown metallic elements, that the grass produces. It is suspected, based on the circumstance of item recovery, that the grass 'evolved' this trait to kill animals running through it in order to attain access to extra organic nutrients that would enrich the soil and promote growth.

Addendum 1: Recovery log - SCP-XXXX was recovered from █████, Japan, at a site on the border of ██████, where ██████ is ████████. Foundation personnel embedded in the local emergency services were notified after a report of three children presented to the hospital with severe blood loss after unexplained lacerations covering their lower limbs after playing outside. Embedded personnel made their way to the site described by the children, where they found a patch of grass soaked in dry blood. █████ then inspected the grass closely while ████ set up a perimeter. ████ then heard █████ cry out, and turned to find him clutching a blood-soaked hand.
