Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is unable to be contained due to its nature. If any possible method of containment is found, it is to be reported to the leading researchers of SCP-XXXX, Dr. Fletcher and Dr. Holloway.
A method to either halt the growth of SCP-XXXX or get off planet Earth is needed immediately. All information regarding a way to stop SCP-XXXX must be reported to Dr.Fletcher.
Description: SCP-XXXX has been described by victims as a deciduous forest, containing evergreen, maple, hickory, and oak trees. When someone enters SCP-XXXX, a path will be right in front of them and is seen as the only notable method of transportation through SCP-XXXX. Any personnel who attempt to deter from the path report being mauled by a huge, unknown creature hiding in the trees.1
If victims go down the path, they will notice the slow rotting of the trees around them, which gets more severe as the walk continues. The path will then end at the center of the forest. Witness accounts describe this center as being devoid of life and covered with blood and corpses of other victims in a rapid rate of decomposition. Prolonged exposure to being within the center of SCP-XXXX causes the subject to slowly rot. During this process, personnel report experiencing overwhelming pain, nausea, confusion, and hopelessness, until death arrives. Very few people live through this process and escape SCP-XXXX, and those who do die days after from injuries sustained. Only one victim has survived SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX was recently discovered in 20██, after multiple missing person reports arose in a small area during the season of spring. One of the people documented as missing for the following 3 months as missing was a newly recruited doctor named Theodore Fletcher, who was soon found by Dr. Erin Holloway as soon as the summer months were beginning.
Dr.Holloway reports to Site 19 upon discovering a missing person.
Dr.Holloway: Oh fuck, fuck…this is Dr.Holloway, it's June █, I've found missing personnel. It's…It's Dr.Fletcher. Damn it! What happened to him? It's like his entire body was [DATA EXPUNGED]. It's horrible…uh, Theodore? Theodore Fletcher? Give me a sign you are conscious.
Dr.Fletcher weakly raises a hand.
Dr.Holloway: He's alive and can hear me. That's good, uh….okay, Theodore, stay calm. There are people coming to get you. You'll be alright. Does anything hurt?
Dr.Fletcher: Everything. Make it stop, please. Make it stop!
Dr.Holloway: I can't. As much as I want to I just can't…
Dr.Fletcher gasps for air and goes limp.
Dr.Holloway: Theodore…? Fuck, he's unresponsive! Get here quickly, please, I don't want to lose him!
Dr.Fletcher and Dr.Holloway are soon recovered by security personnel and sent to receive urgent medical care at Site-19. Dr.Fletcher regains consciousness after a few hours and his series of wounds heal weeks later, minus the loss of one of his eyes. He recounted the event after regaining consciousness, which brought about the documentation of a new SCP.
After his recovery, Dr.Fletcher continued working at the foundation with Dr.Holloway as his partner, the two of them conducting multiple interviews and studies in order to find a possible neutralization or containment method for SCP-XXXX.2
When more yearly cases of SCP-XXXX caused missing person reports, it became imperative that a public address must be given to minimize casualties. The public was warned of the existence of SCP-XXXX, and tests were performed by field workers on the location of missing personnel when they disappeared. It was soon found that people indoors, or elevated from ground level, were much less likely to be taken to SCP-XXXX. A government order was issued to ensure people how to stay safe after this revelation. However, more recent reports show that SCP-XXXX has begun adapting to this change, as a higher number of victims who have followed directions still get taken compared to past records.
The identity of SCP-XXXX, as well as its location, was entirely unknown. A clue as to what SCP-XXXX's identity is was discovered during an interview.
Interviewed: Kathryn White, Short-Term Survivor of SCP-XXXX.
Interviewer: Dr.Fletcher and Dr.Holloway.
Foreword: The two researchers of SCP-XXXX confront a survivor of SCP-XXXX to gain insight into how SCP-XXXX works. Multiple other interviews with survivors had occurred beforehand, and the idea of what SCP-XXXX was is well established during the time of the interview.

Dr.Fletcher and Dr.Holloway enter the room together, with Holloway holding a pencil and clipboard.
Dr.Fletcher: Wow, this one looks rough. Did they lose an arm?
Dr.Holloway: Be respectful to the victims, Theo. You should know that, you are a victim of it!
Dr.Fletcher: You can't stop my disregard for the feelings of mere mortals.
Dr.Holloway: You…ugh, enough banter. We have a lot of questions to ask. Here are the questions, read them out, I document.
Dr.Fletcher: Got it. Okay, Kathryn, correct? Sorry for the wait, we're here to interview you. Do you mind?
Kathryn White: Everythings…blurry. Wait, an interview….? Go ahead.
Dr.Fletcher: Good. Now, can you describe what occurred when you entered the forest, or as we call it SCP-XXXX?
Kathryn White: I was going to the store, for…someone…I forget them. I've forgotten my entire life. But, I remember what happened then. A hand, it grabbed me. It was the hand of a strange furry animal….but it was strong. I went straight down.
Dr.Holloway: A furry animal?
Kathryn White: Yes.
Dr.Fletcher: Well isn't that interesting. Now onto the next question! What happened while you were in there?
Kathryn White: It felt so lonely in there. The ground beneath me felt like it was moving, and the world was so dark and hot. I had to walk slow, and I felt my memory fade. The forest became rotten, and I started to rot too. It was painful. So much pain…
Dr.Fletcher: Trust me, I know what that pain feels like. I hope you'll end up lucky like me! Heh…let's continue. One more question and you can be alone again. What did you see in the center of the forest? Did you see any other living people there?
Kathryn White: Living people…? No. But I saw corpses. Men, women, children. Young and Old. All of them were still rotting away. The forest does not discriminate who it kills. It takes and feeds. I was going to join them, I knew it. The pain was just an entryway to my death. My screams were hopeless whispers to the forest. The forest can't be stopped. It can't be. It can't.
Dr.Holloway: Kathryn, please calm down.
Kathryn gives no response. All movement from her ceases.
Dr.Fletcher: Is she…? Damn.
Dr.Holloway: Call in medical staff, now. This interview is over!

Closing Statement: Kathryn was confirmed dead with an autopsy report showing death via internal bleeding. The interview with Kathryn White was analyzed closely, with the most notable points being the furry hands, the movement of the ground, and Kathryn's pre-death insanity.
A theory amongst foundation personnel began when the discovery of furry hands pulling victims into the ground (and subsequent victims also reporting the matter) was discussed. Many people, including Dr.Fletcher, believed that SCP-XXXX was a sentient creature possibly residing in the ground. In order to prove this theory, Site-19 sent MTF Zeta-9 ("Mole Rats") to discover SCP-XXXX's exact location, size, and appearance.
4/16/20██: Multiple MTF Zeta-9 personnel were sent down 12,000 meters into the earth in order to find the possibility of a glimpse at SCP-XXXX. What was instead discovered was SCP-XXXX's elongated, vine-like furry arm pulling a victim down alongside the drilling personnel, though it went down much further than any person could go before being burned alive. The expedition yielded no solution.
With the theory of SCP-XXXX being a living creature proved false, except for some believing SCP-XXXX may be heat resistant, Dr.Fletcher and Dr.Holloway began a new study of attempting to design an item with the ability to dive further than 12,000 meters.
Dr.Fletcher soon came up with the idea of throwing items down a hole SCP-XXXX left behind from capturing a victim and seeing how far it went.
4/30/20██: A radio transmitter was attached to a piece of bread, and it was thrown down a hole made by SCP-XXXX. It stayed in view on the radar all the way up to entering the earth's core, where the connection was lost.
The test confirmed a valuable piece of information; the holes created by SCP-XXXX protected any item inside of it from heat and other lethal materials. Another expedition was done, and MTF Zeta-9 were sent to investigate once again. Dr.Holloway requested to join the crew for documentation and was soon granted permission.

Dr.Holloway: Okay…it's been, uh, weeks ever since we dropped in. We see magma and some harder materials all around us, but nothing unusual. Wait…I see it. It's the earth's core. A bunch of unconscious personnel is being held by vines protruding from the core. Looks like SCP-XXXX is making subjects immune to heat. Oh shit, I see a vine. It's heading towards us. Retreat, men, retreat! Listen to me, ret-
Static is heard. The transmission soon ends, and all contact with the sent personnel is lost.
<End Log>
After this report was transmitted to the foundation, all personnel on the trip disappeared. A month later, Dr.Holloway was discovered by Dr.Fletcher checking for SCP-XXXX survivors with lethal injuries. Before medical help could arrive, Dr.Holloway was reported speaking some critical information.

Dr.Fletcher: Erin? I can't believe it! Are you..alive?
Dr.Holloway: Erin? Who is that?
Dr.Fletcher: Why, that's you.
Dr.Holloway: No, I am much more. Listen close. I am the earth. I am a feeder. I have grown life on me like my cattle. Those few I let live? I only got full and let them go after I heard their beautiful cries of pain. But I grow hungrier. Let this message stay with you all. More than [DATA EXPUNGED] I will begin to consume. I will eat humanity and everything else with it.
After this is said, all vital signs from Dr.Holloway halted.
Dr.Fletcher: …This is Dr.Fletcher, reporting to Site-19. It seems SCP-XXXX is worse than we thought.
<End Log>
Addendum: This is a note from Dr.Fletcher.
Everything's been figured out. At first, I thought it wasn't that big of a deal, but, the numbers of victims yearly have gone from 200 maximum to 400. It keeps increasing.
We need to get off this planet, soon. To anyone reading this, I pray to god luck is on your side.
I know damn well that it wont be on mine for long.
