Special Containment Procedures:

  • XXXX is to be encased in 42 layers of carbon-reinforced steel, with internal temperature of at least 330 degrees celsius
  • The 42nd layer is to contain an empty, vacuumed space of 0.6m x 0.7m
  • Upon penetration of 32-1st layer, internal temperature is to be raised between 12th and 42nd layer to 2000c for upto 2 minutes, as to incinerate all live instances. However, at least one egg will remain following. This allows under 8m for repairs to take place.
  • Containment engineers are to wear thermal-proof clothing, and are to evacuate before pupae emerge and cause threat.

Description:

  • Seemingly normal Musca domestica (or Houseflies) that are capable of active multiplication of velocity, resulting in extreme flight speeds that they are unable to control
  • Tiny mass means they are completely destroyed in most impacts, but force exerted from sheer amount of speed results in extremely destructive aftermath
  • Indiscernible flight sound - sheer speed of wings creates an extremely irritable, high-pitched screech that can deafen.
  • Common swarm behaviour combined with speed and uncontrolled flight means that swarms often suicide into nearby objects, often causing mass destruction, similar to aftermath of gunfights, but have been reported to be exponentially worse.
  • Reproductive cycle is hyper-accelerated: Females perpetually produce eggs, bloating massively (Egg production of 8600 eggs per hour, egg stage lasts 2 minutes, larvae lasts 30 seconds, pupae stage and subsequent emergence lasts 5 minutes, adults live for 4-5 hours)
  • Female can expect to lay 50,000+ eggs in lifetime.
  • Eggs are similar to frog spawn, appearing as grey and viscous, covering most surfaces, before bubbling and foaming further as eggs hatch their larvae
  • Largest recorded swarm is of 3 million+, recorded in china, was covered up by the Foundation and chinese government as the Tangshan Earthquake. Resulted in the death of 242,000 people, and destruction of Tangshan and neighboring chinese prefectures.
  • Aftermath of event led to almost immediate aftermath, wherein sheer amount of eggs layed during swarm passing led to the grounds liquifying as the swarm rose back up. City was subsequently levelled, killing most of the swarm, but leading to secondary swarms in other areas.

Due to the difficult reproductive capabilities of SCP-XXXX, experimentation of female XXXX instances is now completely prohibited, and only males are now to be used for necessary experimentation, provided the necessary experimentation setting and procedures be in place.
