SCP-XXXX-A alongside SCP-XXXX-B
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B are to be kept in a standard on-site anomalous containment locker and kept under observation by Researcher Mathers when available. SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B are to be kept in an anomalous object containment locker designed to block EM signals. The locker is to be secured with a two stage mechanism consisting of a physical lock and an electronic keypad, both requiring separate Level 3 clearance to unlock.
Description: SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B are a pair of white formal dining gloves. On the back of each glove is a symbol commonly used by Marshall, Carter & Dark Ltd. SCP-XXXX's anomalous property manifests when an entity, designated SCP-XXXX-1, shakes hands with another entity while wearing at least one item of SCP-XXXX. The entity not possessing SCP-XXXX, designated SCP-XXXX-2, will undergo rapid physical modification that removes a trait considered by SCP-XXXX-2 to be beneficial. This process can last anywhere from 13 seconds to 4 minutes, depending on the nature of the characteristic being changed. Once SCP-XXXX-2 completes the alteration process, the process will repeat itself on SCP-XXXX-1. The trait removed from SCP-XXXX-1 will differ in that it is a trait considered detrimental by SCP-XXXX-1.
Test 1 - ██/█/20██
Presiding Researcher: Dr. McNamara
Procedure: One D-Class Subject, D-4456, wearing SCP-XXXX, is instructed to greet the other subject with a handshake. Receiving D-Class, D-2323, is instructed to reciprocate. Both subjects are unaware of SCP-XXXX's effects.
Transcript: D-4456 proceeds to pick up and put on SCP-XXXX. Researcher McNamara instructs D-4456 to proceed with the test. D-4456 insults Researcher McNamara before offering D-2323 his hand. D-2323 expresses apprehension but relents. D-2323 exchanges greetings with D-4456, then shortly afterwards collapses. D-2323 remains on the floor for 2 minutes while convulsing and screaming. D-4456 continually expresses distress until D-2323 ceases movement. D-4456 begins to aggressively rub his body, claiming to feel a burning sensation. D-4456 continues rubbing for 30 seconds until process is complete.
Analysis: D-2323, previously recorded at 1.85 meters tall, now stands at 1.25 meters tall. Other than initial shock and transitional pain, D-2323's body appear fully functional after transformation. Muscle mass in D-4456's arms increased by approximately 50%, and is identical to previously existing muscles in terms of genetic identity.
This test gives us a good baseline on what exactly SCP-XXXX does, further testing should consider trait criteria and any variance in its effects. -Dr. McNamara
Test 2 - ██/██/20██
Presiding Researchers: Dr. McNamara, Dr. Mathers
Procedure: One D-Class Subject, designated D-6722 wearing SCP-XXXX, is instructed to shake the other subject's hand by any means. Receiving D-Class, designated D-0249, is instructed to refuse. D-0249 was told that the glove would administer a lethal toxin.
Transcript: Dr. McNamara instructs D-6722 to put on SCP-XXXX. D-6722 complies, and Dr. McNamara instructs D-6722 to shake hands with D-0249 without holding back. D-6722 expresses confusion but approaches D-0249. D-0249 backs into a corner, pleading with researchers for mercy. As D-6722 gets close, D-0249 attacks, bringing them both to the floor. Both subjects wrestle for 2 minutes before D-6722 manages to grab D-0249's hand. D-0249 exclaims in terror and retreats to a corner of the room. D-0249 begins to sweat profusely, clutching his chest and gasping until expiring. D-6722 begins to complain of a scratching sensation at the back of her head for 20 seconds until the sensation passes.
Analysis: Autopsy of D-0249 revealed that D-0249's heart was missing from his chest cavity, analysis of surrounding flesh indicate no damage. D-6722 admits to "feeling as if I'm looking at the worlds through glass" and "really not caring." Tests were later administered that registered D-6722 as being 80% less empathetic towards the suffering of other living beings.
It seems SCP-XXXX considers abstract traits such as emotion and "being alive" removable. -Dr. McNamara
More importantly, it shows that somebody could influence what characteristics SCP-XXXX removes.- Dr. Mathers
Test 3 - █/█/20██
Presiding Researchers: Dr. McNamara, Dr. Mathers
Procedure: One D-Class Subject, designated D-0940 and wearing SCP-XXXX, is instructed to shake the other subject's hand. Both subjects were told that the glove would administer a dosage of an undisclosed, non-lethal pathogen.
Transcript: Dr. McNamara instructs D-0940 to shake hands with D-6667. D-6667 appears mildly apprehensive. D-0940 offers their hand, and D-6667 accepts. D-6667 begins itching profusely, complaining of a burning sensation across their skin. D-6667 continues to scratch areas identified to be the location of prominent lymph nodes before itching subsides. D-0940 attempts to speak, but suddenly collapses and does not respond to questions.
Analysis: Analysis of D-0940's body has shown greatly increased immune response times and overall strength of the responses. Administration of test pathogens proved ineffective, but current amnestics effectiveness remains unaffected. Analysis of D-6667's immune system shows signs of extreme damage; with functions operating at 20% efficiency with severe deficiency in white blood cells and antibody production.
Test 1 - █/██/20██
Presiding Researcher: Dr. Mathers
Procedure: One D-Class Subject, D-5555, is instructed to shake hands with an autonomous robotic hand while wearing SCP-XXXX, then shake hands with corpse of deceased subject.
Transcript: Dr. Mathers deploys the arm currently and instructs D-5555 to shake hands. D-5555 makes several comments about Dr. Mather's intelligence but shakes hands with the arm. No discernible effects are recorded. Dr. Mathers instructs D-5555 to shake hands with deceased subject. D-5555 expresses mild distress and confusion at instructions, but complies under threat of termination. No discernible effects are recorded.
Analysis: No discernible effects are recorded
Note: Receiving subjects cannot be dead or autonomous. -Dr. Mathers
Test 2 - █/█/20██
Presiding Researcher: Dr. Mathers
Procedure:One D-class subject, wearing SCP-XXXX, is instructed to shake hands with D-2323.
Transcript: D-2323 expresses fear as D-3222 approaches with SCP-XXXX. D-2323 begs for mercy; Dr. Mathers threatens D-3222 with termination should they disobey. D-3222 corners D-2323 and initiates a handshake. D-2323 falls to the floor, grabbing at their back in apparent pain. After 90 seconds D-3222 collapses as well, undergoing rapid skeletal restructuring for 4 minutes.
Analysis: D-2323's lower spinal connections have been completely severed, removing function of D-2323's legs. D-3222 gained approximately 0.75 meters in height, and analysis of his heart shows increased size and quantity of blood flow to the newly grown appendages.
Repeated exposure to SCP-XXXX doesn't show any particularly adverse effects -Dr. Mathers
Test 3 - ██/█/20██
Presiding Researchers: Dr. McNamara, Dr. Mathers
Procedure: One D-Class Subject, designated D-9900 and wearing SCP-XXXX, will be instructed to greet the other subject with a handshake. Receiving D-Class, D-2411, has had psychological conditioning to believe that their lack of muscle mass is a positive trait.
Transcript: Dr. Mathers instructs D-9900 to wear SCP-XXXX and shake hands with D-2411. D-9900 complies without incident, shaking hands with D-2411. D-2411 begins complaining of a burning sensation similar to Test 1, and lasts for 30 seconds. As soon as D-2411 ceases alteration, D-9900 suddenly begins having seizures, requiring medical intervention.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX's effects on D-2411 appear nearly identical to the results in SCP-XXXX Test Series 1, Test 1. D-9900 recovered shortly after being moved to the infirmary, but was kept under observation to determine any lasting effects. D-9900 broke containment soon after, displaying classified knowledge of guard movements, camera placement, and the location of necessary credentials. Recovery teams intercepted D-9900 3 km north of the facility, D-9900 resisted and resulted in termination.
This is getting dangerous, if SCP-XXXX can give information to people who use it… well there are too many possibilities for things to go wrong -Dr. McNamara
Addendum-XXXX-a: After the detection of several unidentified signals, Facility Manager ██████ authorized investigation into the matter. Following the recovery of the proceeding chat log, Dr. Mathers is be to be observed when on duty and his access to the SCP-XXXX file is to be revoked.
Participants: DMac (Registered: Jason McNamara), DrM (Registered: Eric Mathers)
Date: 11/9/20██
Transcript:
<BEGIN>
>DMac: Hey Eric, I just wanted to let you know that i'm petitioning to have SCP-XXXX's security bumped up.
>DrM: Why?
>DMac: Well when I was visiting Jacob I noticed some strange signals coming from the containment locker. I just wanted to let you know.
>DrM: I really don't think that's necessary.
>DMac: Why?
>DrM: The facility protects against unregistered signals. Which means that we don't need to worry about someone outside getting notified.
>DMac: Well….
>DrM: If it makes you feel better, I'll contact the facility manager to see if I can dedicate some of my research time to watching the locker.
>DMac: Really?
>DrM: Sure.
>DMac: Well… thanks. I appreciate it.

Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-A requires no special containment procedures other than it is to be left in a locked room requiring level 2 access. Instances of SCP-XXXX-B are to be kept in a cool, dry place away from any sharp implements or blunt objects to avoid spillage, bursting, or punctures.
Description: SCP-XXXX-J-A is a Vendo Model 511 vending machine branded by First Class Canning. On the front depicts an instance of SCP-XXXX-J-B with the phrase "Canned Death: Death, now in a can!" along with several reviews from companies such as █████, ███, and Kellogg. SCP-XXXX-J-A has been shown to accept all forms of monetary payment as long as, adjusted, they equal 5 US Dollars. Once the equivalent money has been inserted, a series of buttons will display current SCP-XXXX-J-B instances available for purchase. When all instances of SCP-XXXX-J-B are purchased or a period of one-week has gone by, SCP-XXXX-J-A will enter a dormant state as it "restocks" itself through unknown means.
SCP-XXXX-J-B instances are the previously mentioned "Canned Deaths" provided by SCP-XXXX-J-A. Each are are approximately 16 oz in capacity with deviations depending on flavor. Currently known flavors are as follows:
- Classic Car Bombing
- Watermelon Murder
- Cotton Candy Car Crash
- Spaghetti Suicide
- Lemon Lime Disease
- Strawberry Stroke
- Hazelnut Hypothermia
- Blueberry Botulism
- And More
Regardless of flavor, each can contains approximately 14-16 oz of a viscous black liquid.
I can only describe the sensation as one of a reverse sneeze. A godawful pressure that built inside my head until it felt like I would burst. My vision bloomed until stars were the only thing I could see, pain blotting all things until there was only me and the infinite expanse of time and space. The pain soon became unbearable; and with a droning bell toll that echoed through my skull and broke the pressure loose, I let out a scream.
I woke up still screaming, and leather restraints bit into my skin as I tried to thrash the last echoes of pain away. I heard someone speaking to me, panic and worry laced in their voice "Doc! Hey! Can you hear me?"
I snapped to the speaker, seeing a guard with his gun trained on me. His finger no more than split second away from the trigger, no doubt in case I wasn't myself. It looked like they had moved me to the site infirmary, for what reason I can't remember but the pain in my head had slowly begun to subside. I rolled my head back on the bed, yeah I was ok. But my head hurt like hell.
"Good, we were worried you were gone for good." A new speaker this time, one that I recognized as my friend Simon Grant. He stood at the foot of the bed, a bloodstain on his normally immaculate lab coat "Do you remember what happened?"
Not really.
"D-202 threw the anomaly at you. Got you right in the temple. You've been out for nearly twelve hours and we were beginning to wonder if we would have to put you in coma observation."
Right, how could I have forgotten. Some field agents brought in a new item, saying that whenever people touched it they went mad. When we tried to test it, it began to vibrate and then… yeah. I looked down at my arms, the bed straps were pulled down on my wrists and ankles. I assume you guys are gonna be keeping me here?
"Actually, the site manager said that since no anomalous effects showed up while you were asleep that you could go as soon as we verified you weren't insane." Simon ran his hand through his hair "Honestly, I didn't know if you were going to pull through or not. The anomaly activated as soon as it hit you, and your vital signs stopped for almost a minute."
Well I'm alive now, Send me the report transcript when you get some sleep.
Thanks to the wonders of modern medicine I survived with little cerebral trauma. The medic said that the impact likely scrambled my brain, and that it probably take a bit for my memories to reorganize. This proved to be true because I got lost several times on my way to my office. The hallways of the facility seemed so very different, turning and twisting way more than I remembered. I eventually found my office, and sighed in relief at the familiar warm light and desk.
I was about to boot up my computer when the phone rang.
Item #: SCP-XXX9
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX9 is to be kept in a sealed lockbox requiring Level 3 clearance to unlock. The room in which SCP-XXX9 is kept must be equipped with blackout material able to absorb 98% of light emitted. While handling SCP-XXX9 in its active state, all personnel are required to wear special eyewear to remove light along the visual spectrum.
Description: SCP-XXX9 is a clear multi-faceted jewel measuring 11cm in diameter. SCP-XXX9 continuously emits light measured at 15 lumens, and has been observed to hum at a frequency of 45Hz when dormant. SCP-XXX9 occasionally enters an active state characterized by an increase in lumens (observed maximum being 600 lumens) and an increase in frequency emitted (to an observed 100Hz). During an active state, any sentient being that observes the light emitted by SCP-XXX9 for more than 3.5 seconds experiences a minor trans-reality breach with an alternate reality. This breach causes the brainwaves of the individual to cease before being replaced by the brainwaves of an individual from the alternate reality. Light viewed through equipment does not activate SCP-XXX9's anomalous property.
SCP-XXX9 has exhibited patterns in the light emitted during active states, and it is currently believed that SCP-XXX9 operates on a system similar to Level 2 Multiverse Classification related to the patterns of light emitted. Investigation on possible identification of these patterns and their destinations is ongoing.
Incident Report XXX9-Io: At 12:52:22 on January 14th 2019, Site-██ broadcast a containment breach alert before contact was lost. As per protocol a containment detachment was sent in to secure the site.
